SPOT
The Chugach Mountains is a range of mountains that, along
with the Kenai Mountains and Robinson Mountains, make up
the coastal mountains of Southcentral Alaska. The heli base is
located at Alyeska resort in the western edge of the Chugach
Mountains that border. The surrounding area offers access to
some of the best heli-skiing in the world. Short helicopter
flights place skiers on top of big Alaskan faces with views of
Turnagain Arm in one direction and Prince William Sound in
the other. Terrain includes big bowls, ramps, couloirs, mellow
glaciers, and tree skiing. The season starts with snowcat skiing
in mid-December as snow conditions allow it. Helicopter skiing
usually begins in early February and ends in end-April. Each
month offers its own unique characteristics. The best powder
snow on all mountain aspects is usually from February to early
March when the sun angle is lower and the temperatures are
cooler.
SKIING
Short helicopter flights place skiers on top of big Alaskan faces
with views of Turnagain Arm in one direction and Prince
William Sound in the other. Terrain includes big bowls, ramps,

On days the helicopter can’t fly, inbounds and cat-skiing keep
visitors in the powder.
Choose between some of the finest inbounds skiing north of
Jackson Hole just a tram ride away at Alyeska Resort or a
private cat-skiing area just up valley from the Hotel Alyeska.
These options provide excellent terrain for all ability levels.
