We’ve recently entered into a new thematic year. 2014-15
is the RBBC Year of Staying Steadfast. This theme is
taken from my own favorite verse in Scripture, I Cor.15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch
as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
The meaning of this theme is self-evident; however, the
timing of it is important for RBBC. As most know, in October of this year we will celebrate our 50th anniversary
of becoming a constituted local church. RBBC has experienced so many blessings from the Lord, and has
been used in so many ways in God’s work, that all of this
will literally never be fully known until we’re all in Heaven.
As wonderful as this history is, it also should sound a
loud alarm to every Red Bridger. This warning is necessary because of the all-too-common temptation to relax -to go into neutral. This was the history of Old Testament
Israel. They would fervently live for God and experience
His blessings. Over time they would become comfortable and casual in their commitment to their Lord. What
followed was sinful compromise and God’s discipline.
This didn’t have to be the case, but it was because the
people didn’t have the conviction in their souls to Stay
Steadfast. So, as we move toward our 50th anniversary, may God’s people at RBBC maintain the conviction
of Staying Steadfast.
Speaking of Staying Steadfast, that’s exactly how the
RBBC Awana ministry could be characterized. Congratulations (in this the 20th year of RBBC Awana) to the
Journey & Trek Clubs in their recent success at the regional quizzing and games competition. Godspeed to
Journey in the national Summit competition in April.
I continue to be amazed with the effectiveness of our
new revamped website. In recent weeks, sermons on
the www.redbridgebaptist.org website have been accessed by people in the following countries: Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Ghana, India, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia,
South Korea, Spain, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and,
the USA (over half of the States). As you can see, many
of these are predominantly Muslim countries. To God be
the glory!
In the RBBC Year of Staying Steadfast, would you
purpose right now in your heart, and make a commitment
to your Lord, that this will be your personal theme as
well? If not, why not? Our Lord is worthy of the abject
allegiance of His people. May we all offer this to Him!
