LAGOON 450
NEW
Could Monsieur Lagoon be the brilliant Monsieur ‘More’? With the 450, we could well believe it: even more liveable, more comfortable, but also more clever, and just as pleasant both under sail and at anchor – this catamaran is
very appealing. To convince yourself, go to the full test we carried out on this future best-seller, in this edition of
Multihulls World.
This brand new catamaran thus replaces the legendary 440
in the range, a boat which popularised the flybridge on
catamarans under 50’. An achievement which earned it an
exceptional commercial career and allowed many readers of
this magazine to sail round the Atlantic, the Mediterranean,
or the world...
Again designed by VPLP and the Lagoon research and
development department, this 45-foot catamaran retains the
flybridge which made its older sister a success, but is also
very innovative in various areas, and offers really pleasant
downwind sailing. As for the interior, designed by Nauta
Yachts; it is incredibly well-lit and offers generous areas,
worthy of a 60-footer. To be visited as a top priority!

AVENTURA 43
NEW
Construction of the first Aventura 43 has just begun in Tunisia, and is a
nice challenge for the company, which is in addition offering another
new boat, the Aventura 33 (see ‘under 40’ pages). This 43 is a real blue
water catamaran, capable of taking you to the other side of the world,
which Indigo Yachts will be presenting at the end of 2011. This first
Aventura 43 is a version equipped with a hull completely dedicated to
the owner, whilst the opposite hull offers three double cabins and three
heads, with one of the cabins having independent access from outside,
allowing it to be used, if necessary, for stowage...
Designed by Martin Defline, this innovative 43-footer uses the builder’s
concept of a cockpit/saloon (developed on the Aventura 36 Space,
amongst others) by offering an ingenious moveable bulkhead, ensuring
perfect separation of the volumes when necessary, and allowing it to be turned easily into the Cruiser or Space version, depending on your wishes.
The Cruiser version allows for 2 to 6 cabins, with individual heads, and is propelled in its standard version by
2 x 50 hp engines. As always, Indigo Yachts listen to the owners, and each cat can be customised. A virtually
custom boat at a knockout price!

NAUTITECH 441/442
NEW
We discovered them this year at the various Boat Shows: the Nautitech 441 and 442 really are two genuine new boats.
The builder has developed two catamarans with very different characters on the basis of the well-known and appreciated Nautitech 44. On the one hand,
the Nautitech 442, with its traditional (for Nautitech) helmsman’s seats at the stern, which offer good feel on the helm and incomparable sailing pleasure,
and on the other, the 441, which now has a steering position against the coachroof, sufficiently raised to give a good view forward, whilst remaining
protected in bad weather - a classic arrangement, but very comfortable for a family crew. Depending on your way of
sailing, the people aboard and your personal tastes concerning time spent on the helm, all you have to do is choose
the one which really suits you...
In addition, you will find on both versions the very clever coachroof, which has an integrated rain water recovery
system, which will avoid you having to resort to a home-made one, as have many owners cruising around the world.
Here it is simple and functional, and the salinity check as the first shower passes into the dedicated 400-litre tank can
be carried out manually or automatically. The 441/442: catamarans designed for clever sailors!

SALINA 48 EVOLUTION
NEW
This year is ‘Evolution’ year at FountainePajot. After a complete renewal of the sailing range over the last few years, the builder has concentrated on improving two of
its emblematic boats, with the Mahé 36
and this new formula 48-footer which is
now called the Salina 48 Evolution.
This is not just a simple case of papering
over the cracks, but really is a boat which
has been revised to offer its owner still
more, notably concerning the interior
accommodation, which is broadly inspired
by the builder’s top of the range boats,
namely the ‘Flagship’ range (the Galethéa
65 and Queensland 55). Because the 48’s hull does its job perfectly, as does the deck plan, the designers in the
builder’s research and development department have concentrated on the interior. Top of the range materials,
warm atmosphere, systematic headlinings to hide the polyester, leather covered saloon supports, etc; the Salina
48 Evolution will of course flatter its owner’s ego. The new galley, as well as the saloon table which converts to
a coffee table, and the many additional stowage spaces make this boat a judicious choice for demanding owners.

OUTREMER 49 SPORT
NEW
You liked the Outremer 49; you will love the Outremer 49 Sport… There is no doubt, the company knows what it is
doing and is able to meet the expectations of enlightened owners looking for an exceptional boat. The proof, with
the Outremer 49 Sport presented at the last Cannes Boat Show. Because although the 49 cannot deny its Outremer
origins, being fast, seaworthy and a real blue water
cruising boat, the Sport version goes even further,
by saving nearly a tonne over the already light standard version (just 10 tonnes), by offering a superb
rotating carbon mast, Kevlar shrouds and Incidence
sails in D4, and all without touching either the quality or the comfort of the accommodation. Result: a
boat which is lively, nice to helm (the builder has
intelligently ‘forgotten’ the steering wheel, to leave
just the directly connected tillers), but capable of
taking its owners on a round-the-world or roundthe-Atlantic trip with no problems. A blue water
catamaran which will allow you to have fun at the
helm between two dream anchorages...

MONTEBELLO 1250
NEW
In 2009, the Australian builder began developing
its range of ocean-going catamarans, after having
carried out an in-depth study of the cruising catamaran market, as well as a lot of work with the
architect, Roger Hill. Today, the company is proud
to present the first three Montebello 12.50s
already built. The n°1 of the series was presented
at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show this year and is
now sailing on the east coast of Australia, before
its voyage to its home port of Adelaide. The other
two Montebello 12.50s joined the
Whitsun Private Yacht Charters
fleet in July.
As the builder’s team have all been sailing catamarans for a long time, the Montebello,
in both its sailing and motor versions, has been developed above all to offer excellent
seakeeping qualities, and allow easy use when shorthanded. This is also why the cat,
built using infusion techniques, offers a very carefully thought out steering position,
with excellent visibility and good protection, whatever the weather conditions. Finally,
the builder has put the emphasis on stowage, so that 6 to 8 people can live independently
for a fairly long period.

EDEL H 42 ESSENTIAL /
EDEL 42.1 RC
NEW
There is a lot going on at Edel, whose ADN design office has developed a whole range based on the excellent Edel 42...
First of all, there is an ‘Essential’ version, which uses the essential part of the elements which made the
Hélios 42 a success, but with in addition, a nice construction using infusion and a boosted sailplan, to give
a boat which is 100% designed for blue water cruising as a couple or a family wanting to sail with the
‘essentials’, aboard a really lively catamaran; a light boat, delivered as standard with just the bridgedeck
fitted out, but 100% equipped with a full suit of sails. The two hulls are delivered empty, with no
accommodation... A real ocean crosser for 249,900 euros, exc. VAT.
But this is not all, as the builder has also developed an Open Club version, from 220,000 euros exc. VAT, to
carry up to 16 passengers for day charter.
Finally, let’s not forget the 42.1 RC version, a real fast ocean cruising boat
which is nice to helm, as its name suggests: 42.1, as it uses the Edel 42’s
excellent hulls, and RC for Racer-Cruiser. The choice of this size
allows excellent averages to be envisaged, whilst retaining a
human-sized platform, which is easy to handle as a family
crew, even when the wind gets up...

NEEL 45
NEW
Real cruising trimarans are rare... And this
is certainly why last year, Eric Bruneel
decided to launch the Neel 50, a brilliant
vision of what a 3rd millennium cruising
boat should be like. Inside, you would think
you were in a converted warehouse, with
incredible volumes, two superb giant double cabins on the sides, and simply incredible stowage volumes, as the central hull
and the floats are quite simply...empty!
Faced with the success met by the
50-footer, and the interest of numerous
potential buyers, the builder quite naturally
decided to work on a 45-foot version of the same concept. We are looking forward to seeing this
new boat, which could give voyaging families a few ideas.
Meanwhile, there is still the 50-footer for those who want to sail differently, in great comfort, and
covering good averages under sail whilst remaining dry. Because the Neel’s ‘plus’ is that all
the control lines are returned to the warm inside. When we say ‘brilliant’, we really mean brilliant!

FASCAT 445 GREEN MOTION
KNYSNA 480
NEW
NEW
We were looking forward to seeing it
at the Grand Pavois, in La Rochelle,
but the FastCat 445 Green Motion was
not able to get to the show on time.
This catamaran is the first of its kind,
as it is the only cruising catamaran of
a good size to operate with no fossil
energy at all. With its electric propulsion, the Green Motion system which
recharges the batteries whilst sailing
and a few solar panels, the FastCat
can sail far and for a long time, with
no problems. This is in any case
what African Cats maintains; they
have sailed the boat from South
Africa to Europe to validate the
concept... To be tested without
delay!
IDENTITY FILE
The Knysna 440 is a classic catamaran,
which will please both private owners
and professionals looking for a boat
which is easy to maintain and pleasant
for charter customers. The 480 is in the
same vein: designed by Angelo
Lavranos, we again find the classic
and timeless lines dear to the South
African architect, but the Knysna 480 has more volume for even nicer and
more voluminous accommodation, and to facilitate loading the boat (generator, air conditioning,
diving compressor –
nothing is therefore
impossible). Finally, the
builder
is
offering
semi-custom construction, to meet the owners’
demands to the maximum.

CATANA 42
NEW
NEW
Here is a boat which should be particularly pleasant to sail in the
Tropics. The principle is simple: the
saloon and the cockpit are one, as
the coachroof is not closed. The
advantage is obvious: you can
enjoy a very nice area whilst being
protected from the cold, the spray
or the sun, depending on where you
are sailing. The accommodation is pleasant and offers a cruising family
enough to live peacefully, with
notably a clever galley and
nice cabins. But the best is the
steering position, centred in
the middle of the cockpit, offering excellent visibility and
making you want to race everything on the water...

The Catana 42 is not strictly
speaking a new boat, as it is
the development of the Catana
41, which was already the
worthy ‘little sister’ of the successful series, which began
with the 50. Although the 41
was right from the start oriented towards the charter
market, with this 42-footer,
the company wanted above all to offer a real long term cruiser, with
accommodation and a deck plan meeting the needs and ambitions of
owners looking for a
‘human-sized’ boat,
easy to handle as a
shorthanded crew but
remaining accessible
from a price point of
view. An entry level cat

AERO 50
NEW
After the Aéro 45, the Givet-based builder is launching a brand new boat in 2011:
the Aéro 50, a catamaran built in pre-impregnated composites, with epoxy resin,
under vacuum. The company, a specialist in composites and supplier to
particularly demanding sectors, such as the space or aeronautical industries, is
advertising an unladen weight of 6 tonnes for this 50-footer... No other information
for the moment, but knowing the Aerofleet team, the machine should be worth
a look...

DIAMANTE 444
The Diamante 555 presented at Cannes and Genoa last year created some real
emotions amongst both visitors and professionals. With its innovative design,
some original ideas for the accommodation, and perfectly controlled volumes,
this big aluminium blue water catamaran will not go unnoticed. To meet a
growing demand, the architect, Federico Forte, is working on a 44-foot version
of this attractive catamaran, which could even be built in composites.
OCEAN VOYAGEUR 44

Nautitech continues its growth and has just presented a boat which should
appeal to a good number of people looking for a day charter boat at a knockout
price... The builder is actually presenting the Ocean Voyager 44 by Nautitech.
With its capacity of from 20 to 27 passengers, this catamaran, offered at a

LIPARI 41
Comfortable, offering an impressive liveable volume, the Lipari 41 is undeniably
one of the new generation of 40-footers which can do everything. It is moreover

organisation, to make sailing singlehanded or as a family crew easier.

It’s not because the builder has just presented the new 50-footer that the 44 will
not be continuing its career. This cat, designed uniquely for owners wanting to

wheels offset at the sterns, a ‘sunroof’ in the bimini and high-performance hulls.
CATANA 47
By developing the 46 into the 47, Catana is looking back to its (rich) past. Many
owners remember fondly their cruises aboard the very successful 471... In
the tradition of the 50 and the 42, the new 47 is therefore an ocean cruising
catamaran, designed for owners looking for a boat which is image-enhancing
and comfortable, but also with proven seakeeping qualities. Note the new
interiors the builder is presenting this year.

Corsair Marine is well-known for its folding trimarans of from 24 to 37 feet. The
company also builds a 50-footer – but a cruising catamaran! The builder’s 25
years of experience building fast multihulls has been called on to develop this
blue water catamaran... It is therefore a boat which is fast, designed for sailors
who love cruising, and with ergonomic, warm, wood-based accommodation.
