Membership Committee Report
Donna Snow
As we approach the end of the Summer, The Membership Committee reflects back on a fantastic
first half of 2016. We have hosted 5 exciting and educational luncheons for our Members, we have
organized New Member Receptions welcoming 70+ new members, presented a half-day seminar
with nationally recognized Speaker Joe Coury and we have revamped our social media strategy to
focus on the most important element of our Chamber – OUR MEMBERS! In fact, we’ve taken our
social media strategy to a whole new level. Tiffany Evers, Editor of East Coast Current Magazine
and Membership Committee Member, has been instrumental in the Take-Off of this Campaign.

Message From the President
Steve Harrell, COO, Florida Hospital New Smyrna
As the new Brannon Center was being constructed the reactions were mixed. Of course most were
very positive and looking forward to the replacement of a building that started as a Library and filled
many needs until age and functionality caught up with it. One of the comments I heard was “It did
not look like New Smyrna”. Which would often get followed by the question: Well, what does New
Smyrna look like? Now, like many of you having walked into the Brannon Civic Center, the answer is
starting to emerge. New Smyrna is growing, vibrant, and beautiful. It takes the best of what it has
and makes it better. The technology and functionality imbedding in the Brannon Center is state of
the art. (movable walls and audio visual capabilities) and it takes the existing beautiful environment
(park and river) and gives it a new vibrant feel and perspective.
The Southeast Volusia Chamber will be one of the first users of the Brannon Civic Center as it hosts
the 2016 Hob Nob. Scheduled for September 21st at 5:30 pm, shortly after the primary, the Chamber
will pull together the candidates running for public office to allow the public to hear where they
stand on issues important to Southeast Volusia. And then, just when you are ready to take a break
from the political season, you can sign up for a round of golf on October 7th for the 2016 Chamber
Golf Classic hosted at Sugar Mill Country Club. This newsletter has details on both.
The Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce hosted a New Member Reception this month, with
over 40 new members in attendance. We thank Small Pond Advertising for sponsoring this great
event and a warm welcome for our new members.
Southeast Volusia is not just creating a great economic environment but a culture and excitement
that creates a great place to work, live and visit.
We thank you for your membership and your continued support of the Southeast Volusia Chamber
of Commerce.

People want to know about your Business. As SEV Chamber of Commerce Members, you now can rest
assured that your business will reach our local market and beyond. We are so excited that our Members
are receiving more and more value for their investment in our Chamber. As a member, you spend about
$20 a month on your Chamber membership and what you get in return is worth so much more.
Speaking of “Reach,” we are kicking off a Welcome Back Campaign in October. We hope to
reach and reconnect with old friends and former members who are looking for creative and
innovative ways to grow their business, reach more customers and redeploy their talents in the
community. In other words, we miss them!
We have an amazing cast of players on our Membership Committee and it is appropriate to say Thank
You to each one. They volunteer about 1 hour a month and, as a team, make Membership better for all.
• ~Buddy Davenport, Carlos Giraldo, Frank Crooks, Tiffany Evers, Cindi Flanagan,
Megan Mennonna, Alexis Picardi, and Kaye Walker~
• Our Board Members who support our efforts: ALL OF THEM, but a shout-out to
President Elect Lillian Conrad for attending our meetings and rolling up her sleeves
• Staff: Sue, Dave, and Linda – you are amazing!
What a busy summer we all had. And what a busy fall we have planned and are looking
forward to. Congratulations to Megan Mennonna for being Ambassador of the Month for July.
She did a great job. All Ambassadors give a warm "Welcome" to all the new members.

The Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce
