Understanding Our Catholic Faith
“That’s impossible!”
How many times have you spoken those
words over the course of your life? If you’re
like me, the number is probably in the hundreds or thousands.
What’s interesting is that those two words directly contradict what the Lord tells us in the
Bible. In the meeting between the Blessed
Mother and Gabriel (Luke 1:26 -38), Mary was
told that “with God nothing will be impossible”. Why then, do we have such a difficult
time believing that inspired message? Many
times, we struggle to believe because we fail to
acknowledge the miracles that God has performed throughout history and in our own
lives.
If you are overwhelmed with the problems in
your life and need hope, I can assure you that
God is bigger than anything you are facing.
Gabriel’s words to Mary are meant for you,
too. With Him, ALL things are possible!
On June 26th, my wife Eileen and I will be
sharing
our
story at the
Sacred Heart
W o m e n ’ s
Communion
Breakfast and
we hope you
can join us.
We will explain how the
Lord
has
helped us through infertility, a high risk pregnancy, autism, unexpected job loss, homeschooling and now full time ministry. In addition to detailing God’s miraculous intervention
in our life, we will help you to recognize His
providence in your own life.
If you are feeling hopeless, take comfort in the
fact that God is bigger than your problems.
What is impossible for man is possible for God
(Matthew 19:26). Believing this message will
change your life!

eGiving with Faith Direct
This month we are introducing a new and exciting
way for you to support our parish offertory and
second collections: Faith Direct. Faith Direct enables parishioners to make your Church contributions through either direct debit from your checking/savings account or through your credit/debit
card. No more writing checks or searching for envelopes on the way out the door. Now you can apply the convenience of direct debit to your parish
offerings in much the same way as you may now
use it to make your mortgage, car or tuition payments. Faith Direct also offers you personalized
offertory cards to replace your envelopes for the
collection basket.
Please join me in enrolling by responding to the
mailing you will receive or www.faithdirect.net to
enroll securely online. Our parish code is NJ759.
God Bless You!

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY
HOPE AND FORGIVENESS
There were some interesting conceptions of
sin prevalent in the time of the Hebrew scriptures.
There was the belief that God punished sin immediately. Those who suffered disease or misfortune
were, therefore, sinners getting their due from the
Almighty.
Today’s first reading hints at another kind
of God. When David admits his sin, Nathan declares, “The Lord on his part has forgiven your
sin” (2 Samuel 12:13b). Here was not a vengeful
God but a merciful God. What good news that
must have been to David and those who, like him,
could be honest enough to admit their sinfulness!
Jesus is the good news of God’s mercy and
forgiveness incarnate. Without Jesus, perhaps the
good news would have been too good to believe, too
difficult to imagine. But there he is in today’s Gospel, the God-man, forgiving a sinner and declaring
that she is forgiven because of her great love.
There is hope, then, for the rest of us sinners, if
only we love enough!

Popcorn, Franks and a Movie
Come join us at St. Joan of Arc Church in Marlton on Thursday, June 16th at 7:30 pm in Pedata Hall as we present “23
Blast.” When a high school football star is suddenly stricken
with irreversible, total blindness, he must decide whether to
live a safe, protected life or to summon the courage through
playing football to step back into the world. 23 Blast is based
on the amazing, true story of Travis Freeman. A typical teenager growing up in a small town in Kentucky, Travis is a local
hero on and off the field. In the prime of his youth, he is unexpectedly stricken with an infection that destroys his optic
nerve; he becomes blind overnight. Under the influence of
parents who love him, a physical therapist who challenges
him, a coach who inspires him, and a best friend who he cannot bear to leave behind, Travis shows us what true bravery is
by competing on the gridiron, helping his team advance to the
State playoffs. We follow Travis and Jerry Baker, his closest
friend, from the time they meet on the football field as kids
through high school. Jerry’s attraction to the dark side of teenage temptations threatens to pull the friends apart. It is only
on the football field where they truly connect. Depicting a
story of hope triumphing over despair, of courage and faith
overcoming fear and of victory prevailing over adversity, 23
Blast is designed to encourage and uplift audiences.
Come hungry! Lite refreshments will be served. Plan to be fed
not just with food! Hope to see you there!
