Bulletin articles are due by Tuesday at Noon 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time Greetings in Christ! This is an exciting and great week for us in the Diocese of Lansing: this week we celebrate, honor and pray for our Catholic Schools. It’s a great week for us as we thank God that we can show our kids the wonder of the universe Our God made and what we learn about Him in the process. Bishop Carl always used to give the image of a bird. For you and I to fly, we need two wings: Faith and Reason. We see both of these things present and nurtured in our kids at Catholic School. Our celebration of Catholic Education will culminate in our Friday Mass at 9:00am at Sacred Heart. As usual, all are welcome to come. This Wednesday, we’ll have Bible Study at Sacred Heart at 6pm in the January 31, 2016 Parish Hall. We may use this time to do a current events type theme so that St. Mary’s Bible Study doesn’t fall farther behind. We lost last week’s study due to a funeral, so it may be prudent to do less of a Bible Study and more of a Current Events type thing. I’ll think and pray about it more. The only other unusual thing about this week is Thursday: due to the Addison Pastors Meeting, we won’t have Mass at 9:15 am. or a communion service . We will celebrate our 8am Mass at Sacred Heart as usual. A final note: Last year, a young man named Alex began joining us at St. Mary. I introduced him this last summer. Alex has shown a great desire to be Catholic and Fr. Paul began his RCIA process. We’ve continued it since then and I’ve just been amazed at his knowledge of the Catholic Faith and his great love for it. His preparation is complete and on Saturday, February 6th at 8:00am, we are going to celebrate a Mass at St. Mary where we baptize him and bring him into the Church. This is going to be a wonderful event and all are welcome to come. God bless our Parish Family! Fr. Joseph Krupp Pastor WEEKLY QUOTE: Try being INFORMED instead of just opinionated. WORLD MARRIAGE DAY will be celebrated on the weekend of February 13-14, 2016. In each parish of the diocese, the celebrant will bless all married couples that weekend. Bishop Boyea will celebrate a special Anniversary Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing on February 13th at 4:30pm for those couples celebrating their first anniversary in 2016 as well as for all couples celebrating a significant anniversary (10th, 15th, 20th, 25th etc.). All couples celebrating any anniversary of 60 years or more are invited. There will be a reception to follow the Mass. Any couples who plan to attend the Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas, East Lansing, are asked to RSVP by contacting Richard Budd at 517-342-2471 or by email: [email protected] Please consider spending some time in the church for Adoration as one of your stewardship options on Thursdays from Noon—4:00 p.m. You will find a peaceful atmosphere in which to pray and read in the presence of the Lord. Let’s try to ensure that all hours are covered. THE FOOD PANTRY is in need of crackers and cream soups. We Have an Active Home Visitation Team at St. Mary on the Lake. If you know of anyone who would like a home visit, please contact the church office at 517-547-7496 and they will pass the word along. Thanks! ROMEO will meet Wednesday, February 3 at Tina’s 9:00 am. Audrey, David Cole, Len Laughlin, Lydia, Marcia, Bill Roderick, Angie Pachino Welsh, and six families who are homeless.
