Dear Friends, During our Ministry Fair last weekend, over 170 people who had existing accounts or set up a new account, informed TD Bank that they were members of Saint Mary’s Church. This easy fundraiser will provide us (at this point) with no less than $1700.00 dollars on an annual basis. If you bank at TD Bank, please let them know you are a parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church. See the following for more information: 656 – Page 3 Come to the feast of heaven and earth! This first line taken from our gathering hymn (Table of Plenty #310) points directly towards what we have been hearing in the readings for the past several weeks: images of God’s kingdom (the feast of heaven) and images of the harvest (the feast of the earth.) As you listen to today’s readings (beginning on page 218) you will find many different images for the kingdom of heaven. Isaiah calls it “God’s Holy Mountain.” The psalmist sings of “verdant pastures” near “restful waters.” In the very same readings you will find images of the feast of earth that sound like dinner at grandma’s house. In today’s gospel Jesus tells a parable describing the kingdom of heaven as “a great wedding banquet.” The parable goes beyond description to include an important warning; an invitation offered but rejected. As in the gospel of the past few weeks, God’s initial invitation did not bear much fruit. Today’s music is similarly full of images of the kingdom of heaven and of earth. It also highlights the invitation offered to be part of God’s harvest. As we sing and pray let us rejoice that we have been invited by a generous God who calls us to feast both here and in the Kingdom. Singing on the way to the Kingdom, Bruce Calling adult singers: Today is the first rehearsal for people interested in the resurrection choir. As with all projects, volunteers are at the heart of any success. I was fortunate to have 16 wonderful volunteers who each gave 1 hours of their time on a beautiful fall day. Volunteers are special; they give of themselves without thinking of what they may be missing. The following special people are Andrew Blasckewicz, Mary Joyce, Lena Belapinto, Helen Donohue, Patricia Rush, Margaret Peters, Mary Ellen Peters, Rosemary Cox, Alice McGuire, Noreen E. Haveron, Kevin Mauro and Joseph French. We had 2 Confirmation candidates as well: Kyle Conca and Joseph Mauro. Thank you for helping those in need and make my job easier. The Saar brothers, Daniel and John were a blessing as one drove the Parish truck to Shop Rite and the other drove the food back.
