weekly publication, Wildcat Weekly,
strives to highlight the activities of Texas’
finest students. Palestine High School’s
Printing and Imaging Technology students
have designed and created an informative
publication, a publication that showcases
and celebrates Palestine students and
their accomplishments. This wouldn’t be
possible without the collaborative efforts
of Palestine ISD’s administrative teams.
We recognize and appreciate the support
from every campus and each department
throughout the district. The time and
dedication taken by everyone helps to
spotlight the wonderful happenings in our
school district. The efforts of countless
individuals make this publication a
success, however two individuals have
been instrumental in tirelessly fashioning
the periodical we hope you all have
enjoyed. This week we’d like to turn our
attention to Ana and Rozi Balderas, two of
Palestine’s Printing and Imaging
Technology students who have been the
principle designers of Wildcat Weekly.
How are you two alike?
Ana: We are alike because when we go out
somewhere, we get all pretty and like to be
girly.
Rozi: Our interests are alike in many ways. For
example we both want to do something in the
medical field.
Printing and Imaging Instructor, Paul Carr,
said, “It’s been a wonderful opportunity
to work with students who exhibit such
outstanding qualities. Ana and Rozi both
exhibit an excellent work ethic coupled
with high morals and exuberant
personalities. Truly two amazing young
ladies who happen to be twin sisters.”

How are you two different?
Ana: We are different because Rozi is more
talkative than I am, I am more of the shy one.
Rozi: Ana and I are different because she is
more sentimental than I am.

Plans after High School?
Ana: My plans after high school are to go to
TVCC to get a nursing degree. After I get my
nursing degree I want to work at a doctor’s
office and work at getting a higher nursing
degree at UT Tyler.
Rozi: My plans after high school are to go to
TVCC and get my academic credits out of the
way. Then I plan to go to UT Tyler and get my
psychologist degree.

Who are your Role Models?
Ana: My Role Model is my older brother Alberto.
The reason he is my role Model is because no
matter what hard times he goes through, he
always puts his Faith in God first.
Rozi: My Role Model is my mom because she is a
strong woman. She has been through a lot in her
life, but she always has a beautiful smile that
keeps me moving forward.
What is your Dream Job?
Ana: My dream job is to be a nurse. The reason I
want to be a nurse is because I like to help
people and make them feel better.
Rozi: My dream job is to be a psychologist. I
want to be the best psychologist I can be. The
reason I would like to be a psychologist is
because I love to help people solve their
problems by giving them good advice. I also love
to see people’s life change for the better.

PHS UIL academic regional qualifiers
competed well. LD debater Jaren Crist
reached the quarterfinals and the science
team of Riley Martine, Eli West, Nathan
McEwen and Austin Evans placed second
and are the alternates to state. Riley was
also second place in biology and Eli West
was second place in physics.

A B Honor Roll
PJH had more than 100 students
make the A & B honor roll for the 5th
six weeks. Mrs. Paris held the awards
celebration last week and our
students had a blast getting time to
talk with their friends and enjoy
some cake and punch. We are so
proud of the hard work our students
put in.
Planting Tree’s
6th Grade Visit
On February 26th, a group of Palestine Jr. High students did a deed of good. In order to make
their school more colorful, they planted 12 crepe myrtle trees for future students to enjoy.
Sponsored by the Kiwanis, or Builders Club, a handful of students happily joined in on this
service project. Thanks go to teachers, Ms. Gregory, and Mrs. Johnson for helping and to the
sponsors of the Kiwanis club, David Bratz and Tom Watson, for donating the trees to help make
the project possible.
The Story 6th Grade class
visited the Junior High
Campus and took a tour
of the building. The 6th
grade students were
shown around by student
leaders and were given
the opportunity to
experience a class room
setting. They were very
well behaved and a joy to
have on our campus.
What makes the Builders Club so special? Members (students)
volunteer to set up and execute the project. The builders club
helps build character and engraves leadership into the hearts
and minds of those who are willing to make a commitment to
help out their school and local community. But this isn't the first service project these students have done;
there has been the pumpkin patch and the PISD homecoming.
And that’s just the beginning! Next school year at Palestine Jr.
High, we hope to
be able to do
more service
projects to help
better the future
for the district
and for Palestine.

Pre-K Students
With only a few weeks left at Washington ECC our pre-kindergarten (PreK) students are getting pretty
excited about going to kindergarten next school year. But, we also have a group of children remaining at
WECC that will move up to PreK next year. They are really looking forward to being the top kids on campus. !Teachers Tracy Reed, Ashley Hudson and Amy Almanza have prepared their 3-year-old students to be ready to
lead all of the new PreK student next year. If you peek through their classroom window it may seem like a
lot of fun and games; but there’s an intense amount of brainwork going on. These young children learn
through play and creative activity; so the building blocks and train tracks they are using aren’t just for
entertaining, they’re learning problem solving and physics. They are also developing good learning habits
and positive self-esteem. Thank you, teachers, for your demonstrated patience, positive outlook,
consistency, patience, energy, creativity; and for finding young children interesting and challenging, Oh, and
did I mention having patience?

Upcoming Events
Palestine High School will host a summer language camp Monday through Thursday, June 9th to June
19th from 6-8 PM in the library. These classes are open to anyone in the Palestine community and no
registration is needed! We will offer lots of opportunities to practice English conversation, play
games, and build speaking and listening skills.
Palestine High School will also host a summer technology camp for adults Monday through Thursday,
July 7th-10th from 6-8 PM in the library. These classes are open to anyone in the Palestine
community and no registration is required. Space is limited however, so please arrive early. Topics
include how to use an iPad, creating e-mails and Word documents, surfing the internet, and digital
citizenship.
Palestine High School and Palestine Public Library will host “Overdrive: A 24/7 Library” on June 2nd
and 3rd from 6 pm and June 4 from 5:30 pm. For more information contact with Mrs. Diane Harding

Palestine High School TACE Program invites all Palestine ISD parents to register for knitting classes.
Classes will be held on Wednesday’s, June 11th to July 16th at 6 to 8 pm, in High School Room 222.
