What a great industry! ...
Après une pause d’une année, c’est avec enthousiasme que nous sommes de retour !
Cet intermède fut très productif et nous a permis de renforcir notre troupeau en plus
de garder quelques taures FGAF dans notre programme. L’hiver dernier nous avons
constaté que notre décision avait porté fruit puisque ces jeunes taures de remplacement vêlèrent d’excellents veaux, très vigoureux. De plus, cette année ‘‘sabbatique’’
fut très inspirante. En plus, de nous permettre de visiter de nombreuses fermes et
d’assister à de nombreuses ventes, nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer et de
revoir les gens de la grande famille Simmental. Des membres exceptionnels qui
font le cœur et la beauté de cette industrie.
After a break of one year, it is with enthusiasm that we’re back! This interlude was
very productive and allowed us to strengthen our herd by keeping some FGAF heifers
in our program. Last winter we found that our decision has paid off as these young
replacement heifers calved some very excellent calves which were very vigorous. In
addition, this ‘’sabbatical’’ year was very inspiring. It allowed us to visit many farms
and attend many sales where we met outstanding members of this big family, who
are the heart and the beauty of this industry.
La race Simmental n’a jamais été aussi forte qu’aujourd’hui avec, au printemps
dernier, des ventes de taureaux records partout au Canada. Le Simmental Fullblood
aura toujours sa place dans cette merveilleuse race et nous croyons que les gros
éleveurs ont compris toute l’importance et toute la force de combiner Fullblood et
Pur-sang dans leur pedigree. De plus, avec cette sécheresse historique qui a frappée
l’Est du Canada à l’été 2012, le terme ‘‘facile d’entretien’’ a pris tout son sens. Cette
rude période nous a permis de constater toute la force de la race Simmental; des
vaches maternelles qui, malgré de dures conditions, ont sevré des veaux lourds et
ont su garder une très belle condition de chair !
Cette année encore, nous sommes très fiers de la qualité des femelles que nous
vous présentons et nous tenons à souligner tout l’effort que nos consignataires ont
mis afin que cette 16e vente annuelle de production soit, comme les précédentes, un
grand succès. Nous nous devons aussi de souhaiter la bienvenue à nos confrères
de l’Ontario qui apporteront une énergie nouvelle à cette vente.
En primeur cette année, nous avons la chance de vous offrir de très grandes
championnes de la classique PINNACLE, situé à Louisville au Kentucky: Alliance
Polled Moncha 17Y qui fut désignée Grande Championne et FGAF Coronita 817Y,
accompagnée de sa mère, qui fut couronnée Suprême Championne. Venez-vous
rincer l’œil !
L’invitation est donc lancée ! Visitez-nous à la ferme la fin de semaine du 29 septembre 2012 et venez choisir parmi les femelles présentées votre prochaine vache
vedette! Et pourquoi ne pas faire une pierre d’un coup et jeter un coup d’œil à nos
taureaux 2012 qui seront exposés près de la ferme principale. Il n’est jamais trop
tôt pour magasiner son prochain taureau de troupeau!

The Simmental breed has never been greater than today with last spring bull sales
season making record sales across Canada. The Simmental Fullblood will always
have its place in this wonderful breed and we believe that large farmers have understood the importance and the strength of combining Fullblood and purebred in
their pedigree. Furthermore, with this historic drought that has hit eastern Canada
in the summer of 2012, the term’’ easy keeping’’ made perfect sense. This tough
period showed all the strength of the Simmental breed; cows, which despite harsh
conditions, have weaned heavy calves and have kept a very good body condition!
This year, again, we are very proud of the quality of the females that we present and
we wish to acknowledge the effort that our guests have put to make this 16th annual
sale of production, like the previous, very successful. We also need to welcome our
colleagues in Ontario that will bring new energy to this sale.
New this year, we are fortunate to offer you some very great champions of the PINNACLE Classic, located in Louisville, Kentucky: Alliance Polled Moncha 17Y which
was named Grand Champion female and FGAF Coronita 817Y, accompanied by
her mother, who was crowned Supreme Champion female. Come feast your eyes!
We invite you to visit us during the weekend of September 29, 2012 to choose your
next super star cow. And also, why not take this opportunity to tour our good bull
calves and like we say, “It’s never too early to shop for a herd bull”.

The word “anticipation” enthusiastically comes to mind when planning ahead to this
2012 edition of the Ferme Gagnon and Guests Production Sale. Not only can we
all be anticipating it more because of the “year off” but what the “rest” will do for this
herd! We all know that when the Gagnons host a sale, the quality is very high and
a little “breather” for the herd would only be healthy long term.
Anticipation to see the first daughters of “Trilogy” sell, who is a former Red Deer Bull
Sale high seller that is super exciting to see physically, not to mention the bulletproof
pedigree he attains being a “Romano” son out of the “Trophy” cow family. Anticipation to see the “Collosal” influence in the FGAF herd who along with “Trilogy” start
new chapters of great herdbulls to follow in the footsteps of all the greats who have
worked at Ferme Gagnon. Speaking of which, anticipation to see the influences
of “Dr. Duke”, “Legend”, “Buster”, “Zegna” and “Maestro” throughout the solid offering. Anticipation to see the first evidence of a rejuvenated Purebred sector at
FGAF. Anticipation to see the courteous core of loyal guest consignors and to meet
or re-greet new participants to the event. Anticipation to see an Ottawa Valley influence blended into the quality Quebec cattle on offer. Anticipation to work with great
people in a beautiful place in Canada.

Le mot enthousiasme me vient à l’esprit quand je planifie d’assister à l’édition 2012
de la vente de production de la Ferme Gagnon et de ses consignataires. Enthousiaste à l’idée de constater les résultats de la ‘’pause-santé’’ d’une année sur leur
troupeau. Nous savons tous que lorsque les Gagnon font une vente, la qualité est
au rendez-vous.
Enthousiaste d’assister à la vente des premières filles de ‘’Trylogy’’, qui a été le
plus haut vendeur à la ‘’Red Deer Bull Sale’’ avec son impressionnant pedigree,

exposition de la NAILE au Kentucky. Ce fut une décision très difficile de m’en départir mais je
voulais faire honneur à l’invitation de consigner à cette vente élite. Vendue saillie à On Demand,

phenotypically but she is the reigning 2011 NAILE Champion Female. This heifer is terribly hard
to part with but I do appreciate the invitation to this elite sale. She sells bred to On Demand.
This is a combination that is sure to work as Mocha’s dam has an awesome On Demand bull
calf at side this year.

Fullblood acère. Wow, si j’ai eu de la difficulté à me départir de Mocha, c’est également extrêmement
difficile de vous offrir cette jeune génisse. La mère de Lass, Zignetta, est sans aucun doute la meilleure femelle issue de mon élevage à ce jour. Zignetta est
issue du fameux taureau FGAF Zegna 230R qui a su laisser
sa marque dans cette industrie. Sa mère est une vache
modérée, avec un pie parfait et extrêmement féminine.
Lass est la première fille de ‘’On Demand’’ à se vendre à
un encan publique et je ne pouvais pas choisir de meilleur
hôte pour le faire. Merci encore! Alliance Simmental Farm
aimerait garder les droits d’exposition sur cette dernière si
le nouveau propriétaire le veut bien.

Polled Fullblood. Wow, if it was hard to part with Mocha it’s extremely hard to part with
this young lady. Lass’s dam, Zignetta, is one of the best Simmental females I have
ever raised. Zignetta is sired by the outstanding FGAF Zegna 230R bull that sure made
his mark on the industry. This heifer’s dam is very moderate in structure, extremely
feminine and what an udder. Lass will be the first On Demand progeny to sell at public
auction and I can’t think of a better host, Thanks again. Alliance Simmental Farms
would like to keep this pair together for the major shows if suitable to the new owner.

Full Fleckvieh. Alcovia Tammy 54X est le produit de deux individus exceptionnels que nous avons
eu la chance d’obtenir des meilleurs éleveurs Fleckvieh en Alberta. La mère de Tammy, 66T DSL
est une vache profonde, facile d’entretien obtenue de Lori et Dave Stusrud de D Bar Fleckvieh L, qui
était parmi les plus hauts vendus à la vente 2008 Fleckvieh Fest. Elle est arrivée saillie à KCN E208
et comme vous pouvez le voir, 66T DSL passe sa profondeur et l’épaisseur à ses filles. A la vente
2011 Cow-A-Rama XII Simmental, la sœur propre de DSL 66T était le plus haut vendeur, acheté par
Meadow Keato Simmentals, et tout ça est une preuve incontestée de la qualité du troupeau de Lori et
Dave, et nous les remercions pour leur dur travail et le dévouement à la race. Le père de Tammy est
totalement rouge, Full Fleckvieh et est le fils de KWA Redbench que nous avons acheté de Grinalta
Farms. Il est modéré, très profond et très épais et donne tous ces bons attributs à sa progéniture.
Francis a visité la ferme pour voir Tammy et a relaté son épaisseur et sa structure modérée. Le
taureau a également fourni quelques résultats visuels agréables pour ceux qui aiment les animaux
plus rouges et Tammy est un merveilleux exemple de l’ensemble des forces physiques de son père
et la mère. La cohérence de Tammy est le résultat de deux fondations solides et nous avons saillie
Tammy à “Legend” pour sa fiabilité en vue d’assurer que son veau dû janvier 2013 générera des
opportunités supplémentaires pour ses nouveaux propriétaires.

Full Fleckvieh. Alcovia Tammy 54X is the product of two outstanding individuals we were fortunate to obtain from leading Fleckvieh breeders in Alberta. Tammy’s dam, DSLS 66T, is a deep, easy
fleshing cow from Lori and Dave Stusrud of D Bar L Fleckvieh, who was among the high sellers at the 2008 Fleckvieh Fest sale. She came to us bred to KCN E208 and as you can see, DSLS 66T
passes her depth and thickness on to her daughters. At the 2011 Cow-A-Rama XII Simmental sale, the full sister to DSLS 66T was the high seller, going to Keato Meadow Simmentals, and this is
a strong testament to the quality of Lori and Dave’s herd and we thank them for their hard work and dedication to the breed. Tammy’s sire is a solid red, full Fleckvieh son of KWA Redbench, who
we purchased from Grinalta Farms. He is a moderate framed, very deep bodied and wide topped individual who also fleshes easily and who passes these attributes on to all his offspring. Francis
visited the farm to view Tammy and commented on her thickness and moderate frame. The bull has also provided some pleasant visual results for those who like to see more red color and Tammy
is a wonderful example of the combined physical strengths of her sire and dam. Tammy’s consistency is the result of two solid foundations and we bred Tammy to the consistency “Legend” in order
to ensure that her January 2013 calf will generate additional opportunities for her new owners.

Notice for EPD use:
SVP veillez noter que, malgré que nous ayons décidé d’imprimer les
EPDs, les valeurs de ces derniers sont quelque peu faussées. En effet, un haut pourcentage des données de performances qui servent à
calculer les EPDs proviennent de races anglaises non-simmental. Ce
qui a pour effet de fausser la moyenne de la race. Soyez conscient que
cette situation a pour effet de sous-évaluer les EPDs de facilité de vêlage,
et de sur évaluer les valeurs pour le lait de la souche Fleckvieh. Nous
croyons fortement en cet outil de sélection, et espérons que la fiabilité
en sera augmentée dans un futur rapproché.
Please note that although we have made EPDs available, the values
are somewhat inaccurate. A high percentage of non-Simmental british
blooded animal’s performance is entered in the database, which impacts
the breed average. We strongly believe in this selection tool, but keep
in mind that the fleckvieh strain is under-evaluated for calving ease,
and over-evaluated for milk values. We are confident that our breed
administrators will solve this issue in the near future.

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory
credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until
after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque
as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase
Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly
or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other
expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale
before any cattle will be released.
BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed
except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each
animal will be sold to the highest bidder.
DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no
further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The
auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will
be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
INFORMATION SUPPLIED - The information contained in this catalog is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp.
or Jamesway Enterprises Ltd. assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate.
CATTLE PICTURES - The images in this catalog are believed to be accurate representations of the
individual animals. Transcon Livestock Corp. and Jamesway Enterprises Ltd. assume no responsibility
if the images as received have been altered.
ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalog.
Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed
association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has
been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in
any other association.
SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the
Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers
are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.
BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee
guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any
time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.
HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal
into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status
of any animal in the sale.
ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers,
neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility
in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.
RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract
between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase
in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties
connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon
Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible
for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock
Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties,
