Events On Saturday, May 21st, Berry Creek will remember our friend Brian Lietzke with food, friends, and a little golf. What could be better? Oh, and we’ll be raising money for Brian’s favorite charity, The First Tee! Mark your calendars and visit TheLietzkeMemorial.com for full details. 16 Now, a new event! Mark Monday, April 25th on your calendars for the 1st Annual Swings for Strings golf tournament and concert benefiting Georgetown High School’s orchestra program. We’ll tee it up at 1:00pm, and then enjoy an on-site orchestra concert during dinner! This is going to be cool! Check it out at SwingsForStrings.com! As a club, Berry Creek’s generosity has always stood a head above all others. I can’t wait to see it shine through again this year! We added more league play to the Berry Creek courts than ever before. Trey Baring came on board to enhance the staff last January. We had a well deserved facelift to our pool area. We added Blaike Woodruff, our fitness trainer, to the mix on this side of the creek. We now have an awesome TV on the tennis center patio for members to enjoy. We were lucky enough to add Madelyn Ereckson to the staff over here as the Pro Shop Manger. With all that and more we are gearing up for the 2016! Straight out of the gates we have the Berry Creek Winter Open January 8-10. This is a USTA sanctioned event that will bring in players young and old from all over the state to play the event hosted by the staff at your tennis center. Get signed by clicking on the link below. Also in January we will have the Berry Creek WTTA/USTA Ladies Tennis Boot Camp January 26-29. We will be having USTA/WTTA leagues beginning in mid February so if you’re interested in being on a team or subbing, please call me at the Tennis Center or email [email protected]. http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/TournamentHome/ Tournament.aspx?T=175506&WIDGET=TDSV1 Thanks, Jory Ereckson January Tennis Schedule Adult Winter Schedule Dec 8 9:30-12:00 Ladies Playday Jan 8-10 All Day BC Winter Open Tues 7-8:30am Men’s Drills Wed 6-7 pm Cardio Drills Thurs 7-9 pm Powerball Sat 8:30-10am Coed Open Drills BC Competitors Class The ZAT & High Performance (HP) Classes are designed for aspiring competitive and committed junior players ages 11-18. Contact Cynthia Ragsdale 512-930-4615 Thank you Mr.& Mrs. Choate for helping make Berry Creek "The Friendliest Club in Georgetown". From the General Manager Welcome to 2016! I hope everyone had a memorable holiday season with your loved ones. As fantastic as 2015 was, we are ready to make 2016 the best year ever. The recent ‘State of the Club’ letter lists the many accomplishments in 2015, and it’s now time to plan for more improvements and events for the coming year. 2016 will kick off with the annual Casino Night hosted by the Social Committee on Saturday, January 23rd. Make your reservations early as this event is always full. Part of Berry Creek’s culture is the vast amount of charitable contributions the club and its members make each year. The Berry Creek Cancer Fund tournament (on June 11th this year) is one of many incredible events the membership supports and it raises over $50,000 each year. If you have always wanted to volunteer, but aren’t sure how, ask us about ‘Berry Cares’ and let the club help you find new and unique ways to make a difference. I would like to welcome Mike Schafer and Paul Hohlstein as your new at-large members of the Board of Governors. The board continues to embrace the Club Pride initiative and plans to make it part of our culture for many years in the future. P.S. - Don’t forget prepaid dues are back! If you didn’t get the chance to prepay dues during the holidays, you can still receive incentives by prepaying the year by January 29th. A red donation box out front collected over $20,000 for the “MAKE A WISH” Foundation last year. Mr. Harlien says "The only way to get rid of darkness is to add more light.” All of the money donated goes to the local MAW Fund. Kathryn Draper of Make-A-Wish Foundation told the American Statesman that the wishes granted bring normalcy to a family with a sick child. It gives them something to look forward to and the entire family participates. Berry Creek will be awarding the Harlien family a special Berry Cares Award and a donation to the fund. Donations can still be made at berrycreekchristmas.com. 7 Clubs Within a Club Health & Fitness YOGA Returns January 5 Tuesdays 8am $10 class drop in rate New Fitness Class with Blaike at the Clubhouse Sharon Zambriski-Cooper [email protected] 512-608-2474 Social Opportunities Diner’s Club Annual Soup Dinner January 23rd VOLUNTEER [email protected] Contact Emily Befort 512-930-1771 More Clubs within the Club Contacts 8 Bike Club Bob Whetsell [email protected] 512-818-1407 Girl’s Night Out Debbie Conroy [email protected] 512-930-4615 Neighborhood Watch Bobbie Lingenfelter [email protected] 512-863-7263 Book Club Lyndee Munson [email protected] 512-868-2320 Sewing Club Pat DeKay [email protected] 512-869-3084 Berry Cares Cynthia Ragsdale [email protected] 512-930-4615 Woman 2 Woman Gini Sheffield [email protected] 512-930-4615 Member to Member Member to Member JANUARY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY 1 SATURDAY 2 Happy New Year!
