Bix Block 25 pair Termination
1/16/15 ¡ BIX blocks are another form of IDC connector § The front and rear pins are connected in the center § You would terminate the cable on the one side then flip it over and make your cross connection on the front side ¡ BIX blocks are not as popular as 110 Blocks but there are customers that use them ¡ They have a specific way of terminating them just like the 66 and 110 blocks. ¡ They have a specific tool that used 1 1/16/15 BIX blocks have a removable cover BIX blocks have a removable cover 2 1/16/15 BIX blocks with cover removed Termination block is also removable 3 1/16/15 Termination block is also removable ¡ Prepare 25 pair cable § Do this in the same manner you would use for the 66M150 & 110 Blocks ▪ Remove cable sheath ▪ Remove pull string ▪ Remove strings around cable binder 4 1/16/15 Tyrap cable to metal support on rear of bracket Put a small loop in the cable and use a small tyrap to secure it to the BIX Block 5 1/16/15 This is incorrect You need the loop on the cable to allow the block to be turned over after the cable has been terminated Dress pair into slots You should follow the color code in this case because the BIX Blocks are not marked like the 110 Blocks 6 1/16/15 ¡ You can either use a BIX tool or a BIX Blade that fits into a standard punch tool ¡ NOTE: § The Krone blade looks similar to a BIX tool ▪ Make sure you are using the correct tool 7 1/16/15 BIX Tool Krone Tool Use the BIX tool or BIX blade in a standard punch tool to insert the wires and cut off the excess wire Make sure cutting blade is facing the excess wire that will be cut off In this case it should be facing down 8 1/16/15 Standard Punch Tool with BIX Blade Keep pairs straight down so tool will cutoff excess properly 9 1/16/15 Once cable has been terminated remove block from holder and flip over 10 1/16/15 Completed termination BIX Block with label holder 11 1/16/15 ¡ GigaBIX blocks are used for high speed data ¡ They are terminated in the same fashion § Cables are dressed in from the rear § Terminated on the front of the connector ▪ The connector is then flipped over so cables can be patched into the blocks ▪ TIA/EIA distance limitations apply for high speed data ▪ ???
