Participants:
Mainly Health Professionals representing governmental institutions, academy, Community Agents,
representatives of the School of Leaders, Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, NGOs and media.

Network and the IBFAN Latin American and Carribean Regional Coordination.
Activities:
IBFAN-LAC Regional Coordination - Marta Trejos and Amura Hidalgo - Costa Rica, provided the
guidance and technical materials:
Reproduction and distribution of the WBCi Brochure for press and all participants and their
institutions.

Meetings – Panel of Discussion (Conversatorios) in each city with clue participants to
explain the need to invest in women and their babies, and the WBCi. Other national initiatives
as the respect for the International Code and the need for at least 6 months maternity leave we
reinforced.
Media participation was important: National newspaper El Tiempo, National Network of
Television CityTV, and other city newspapers, radio and tv channels.
In Palmira the WBCi was linked to the Human Rights commemoration, and Radio Palmira enterview
with IBFAN Coordinator Mirian Inés Gómez.
In Floridablanca, Radio U107.7 FM interview with IBFAN Coordinator Liliana Castro Morato.
In Los Patios, the Newspaper La Opinión covered the event promoted by IBFAN Coordinator María
Fernanda

IBFAN groups and allies developed communication in social networks and information was also
forwarded to various emailing lists.
Commitment
In Bogotá, following the analysis and discussion of the WBCi, the participants made the following
commitment:
β€œTo advocate and claim that the
Colombian government and the
Colombian society as a whole invest
- economically, socially and
politically - to guarantee that the
right of mothers to breastfeed and
of the child to received healthy, safe
and appropriate food and nutrition,
in all environments of the daily life
of
women,
pregnant
and
breastfeeding
mothers,
their
children and families.”
