Organising any event requires considerable hard work and planning. This guide provides a range of venues within Wodonga which can host an event. 6 Wodonga Council has developed this guide to assist you in researching which venue to use for your next meeting, function, conference or special event. This guide will help make your decision easier by providing you with details such as location, capacity, facilities and access. A venue needs to be selected depending on its suitability to your event’s concept. Correct venue selection is a critical success factor for an event. Consideration needs to be given to: • Indoor/outdoor requirements; • Location and approximate travel time to get there; • Proximity to public transport, accommodation and adequate car parking; • Catering facilities and liquor licensing; • Capacity of the venue; • Type of security provided; • Who (and when) will be using the venue prior to your event; • Other events taking place in Wodonga at the same time; • • • • • • • • Heating and air-conditioning; High visibility to attract passing traffic; Cost of using the venue; Services supplied, for example, power, water, toilets, lighting and shelter from weather; Access for the disabled and heavy equipment; Site layout; Wet weather options; and, Audio visual options. The council also provides the Event Management and Planning Guide to assist event organisers with planning and organising their event.
