Dear Karen,
Any superbowl enthusiasts out
there? Quite a game last night,
wasn't it? Like Pat said, it had
everything - close score, crazy
catch, last minute save, fight,
interesting commercials (being
perfectly honest, the main reason I
watch it). I think my favorite was
the Budweiser puppy. Although
beer
commercials really shouldn't
Karen Becker,
make
you tear up.

Your superbowl is about to start the selling season is going to be interesting this
year. To help you and to educate the consumer,
phase 3 of our consumer outreach program is set
to launch in a few weeks. I'll let you know what
the schedule and channels are once we finalize the
commercials.
Have a great week!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Things are moving slowly at the legislature,
as they usually do during the opening
months. That makes today the best time to
do two things:
- Go to www.MNHomesMatter.com and sign
the online petition, lending your voice to
our effort to stop any changes to the MID
(Mortgage Interest Deduction).
- While you are on the site, fill out the
already-written letter to legislators
Pat Sexton,
Government
Affairs Director
The entire process will take less than 2 minutes and it will
show our legislators that the REALTOR® Party speaks with one
voice and that voice says... "Minnesota Homes Matter!"

Tip 1: If your DIY skills are not up to
scratch, avoid pouring milk in your
cornflakes it may go on fire!!
Each week, I will provide you with a useful
tip based on frequently asked questions
and important updates. (My first tip will
always be something useful in life.)
After a wonderful break in Cancun last
week, it is back to reality in cold
Minnesota. I should probably have taken
Karen's advice with the sunscreen as I got
Shaun Martin,
a little burned on my chest and back (still
MLS/IT Director flaking). It looks like you are all glad to
have me back though as the emails,
faxes, phones, voicemails, and walkie -talkies have been nonstop. This week I have chosen to make everyone aware of the

MLS News You Can Use
The sun is bright and shiny today - I am
pretty sure that the groundhog saw his
shadow - that means that we get six more
weeks of winter! The weatherman this
morning sounded like it is coming too with
more snow tomorrow and colder temps.
But in February it always seems to me like
I can see the end coming.
Good News - If you show listings in the
Twin Cities area. Starting the week of
February 16 th , the Twin Cities area will be
Margaret Heise
installing the Supra Blue Tooth lockboxes,
MLS Executive
so that you will no longer need a fob when
showing homes up there. The boxes will be the same as ours. It
may take them a couple weeks to get all of the boxes
exchanged, so be sure to ask which type of box is on the home
if you are going up there to show a property.
News from Southeast Minnesota Association of REALTORS®
I am going to repeat MLS Policy #16 this week because this is a
big fine and I don't want any of you to receive this fine!!
Data Entry - Don't forget to fax (507-282-2450) or e-mail
([email protected] or [email protected])
all listing contracts (pages 1&4) and all change forms that
have required owner signatures (extensions, cancellations,
temporarily off the markets) to us at the MLS office once
you have entered them. And remember, don't enter these
into the MLS unless all required signatures have been
obtained - this is Minnesota law.
