Minot made the news a lot in 2011. You heard about the flood.
But you may have also heard before that we’re magic. It’s never
been truer than now! We are always a great place to visit, and
we’re rebuilding better than ever. So what would you like to do
when you visit Minot? Take in some great dining and the arts?
Splash into the pool and water slides at a fun hotel after some

Our Magical History
Noteworthy
Minot is the hometown of
Minot was founded in 1886 where the Great
Hollywood A-list actor, Josh
Northern Railway’s construction crew set up winter
camp. As if by magic, a tent town formed practically
Duhamel. Josh and his wife,
Fergie (singer for the Black Eyed
Peas), have been instrumental in
overnight and grew to a population of 5,000 in the
helping Minot rebuild after the
flood of 2011. Soon after the
next five months—giving us our best known
water receded, the Black Eyed
nickname, “The Magic City.” During the Prohibition
era, some people called Minot “Little Chicago”
Peas came to Minot for a benefit
concert that raised over $1.3
million for our community!
(We’ve always known how to have fun!), but today
our reputation is different from those bootlegging

Norsk Høstfest, every fall.
In 1991, a 230-year-old house
from Norway was dismantled,
shipped to Minot and
reassembled in Scandinavian
Heritage Park where you can view

Downtown Minot area
The downtown Minot area, located just east
of Broadway and mostly between the
railroad tracks and Burdick Expressway,
offers a unique blend of arts, gifts, crafts,
antiques, dining, professional and specialty

Roosevelt Park Zoo
North Dakota’s oldest zoo has
been a long-time favorite for
residents and visitors alike. The
flood of 2011 was a difficult
time for this city treasure. But
our animals are safe, thanks to
many zoos who came to help
from around the region and
country. Our gibbons and
zebras are visiting Bismarck
while our penguins are visiting
St. Paul, Minnesota. During the
flood, the Minot Park District
established a rebuilding fund to
which many people have
graciously donated. We love

The Minot area has a proud history of
beautiful golf courses. Visitors to the
region are accustomed to playing
gorgeous courses and lush, green
fairways that weave their way through
the Souris River valley. Many of our
courses were inundated during the
flood of 2011. Our Minot Country
Club, once rated the state’s best
classic course by Golfweek magazine,
was one of them. The Jack Hoeven
Wee Links, North Dakota’s only junior
golf course made specifically for kids,
