Creatively combining those oldies but goodies with today’s modern music. That’s right, you’ve got it! They make “Now, then & forever” unfold right before your eyes! Pam Darden and her gals realized they had the same creative dream, to recreate a musical lifetime right there on stage. Each had experienced their moment of greatness, but never like this! What a combination! What a celebration! THE HISTORY OF THE MARVELETTES The Marvelettes occupy an esteemed place in the history of American popular music as the group that cause Motown, and most notably Berry Gordy, to change the label’s focus from single bluesy soul artists (previously Barret Strong’s “Money” had been the label’s biggest seller) to a smooth, orchestrated, harmonic sound that transcended the prior racial limits of rhythm and blues. With their first record, “Please Mr. Postman” hitting the top spot on the charts and selling 3-million records in a crossover market, Motown began to concentrate on groups like the Marvelettes, Supremes, Temptations, Four Tops, and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, creating a new group pop soul sound that totally dominated the music charts until the advent of the Beatles four years later. During their reign at the top of the charts, the girls were to turn out more than a dozen hits, eight of which went Top 10. The Marvelettes gave Motown its first certified number 1 hit with “Please, Mr. Postman” which set into motion the Motown sound worldwide. The Marvelettes helped to set the stage for an era in music history that is unforgetable, and best, unmistakable. The Marvelettes are a very unique group combining the talends of three singers from diversified background. The result is a strong definitive sound built on confidence and ability. Now, Then.. . and Forever! Pam Darden began her career singing in the Baptist Church. At a very young age, Pam began singing in local groups and doing live stage performances. She grew up in a town where The Manhattens, Soul Generation, and Kool and the Gang were her partners on the local scene. She then began singing with the Adlibs, whos main hit was The Boy From New York City. Pam knew she was headed for stardom when she auditioned and became a member of Motown’s #1 Girl Group, The Marvelettes... performing with original member Gladys Horton’s group for several years during the 1980s & 90s! Pam has also collaborated with Alton Taylor, and the late Victor Mickens who wrote the hit song “Summer Madness” for Kool and the Gang. Together, Pam, Alton, and Victor wrote 25 songs!
