Relyco® Customer Story: Grayton Bar & Grill Unique Restaurant Creates Menus with a “Funky” Twist with REVLAR™ Waterproof Paper from Relyco Chosen by Florida Trend magazine as one of the top new restaurants to open in 2013, Grayton Bar & Grill is located in beautiful Grayton Beach on northwest Florida’s gulf coast. Grayton Bar & Grill features four dining areas, as well as a centuries-old cypress wood bar, and serves unpretentious Modern Deep South cuisine in a casual, fun setting suited to diners of all ages. While Grayton Bar & Grill itself is new, the owners, including Chef Johnny Earles, are well known to area diners. In fact, their restaurant Criolla’s, which until 2008 had been housed in the same location as their new endeavor, was legendary. Grayton Bar & Grill menus, for example, are brightly printed pages presented on clipboards, a funky twist on a restaurant staple. It was REVLAR from Relyco, and when he showed us samples of our menu that he had printed on REVLAR himself, we were really impressed. We loved the appearance of the paper and were really intrigued by the waterproof quality.” The sales representative gave Chastain contact information for Relyco and she reached out immediately to find out how the restaurant could get a supply. Relyco sent additional samples of REVLAR so that Chastain could evaluate how different thicknesses would look as their finished product. Chastain had a clear advantage, however, because the fact that REVLAR was recommended by the sales representative assured that the product would work well in their new equipment. Diners have even commented on the paper and asked where it came from,” Chastain adds. “The bonus is REVLAR’s durability and how easy our menus are to clean. We no longer have to reprint menus on a continuous basis; they can’t be damaged by sticky fingers or beverages that spill. In fact, we’ve only had to reprint menu pages as the items we offer have changed.” Chastain notes that while REVLAR may be more costly initially, once the longevity of the printed menu pages is considered, the solution is more cost effective overall. “It is absolutely worthwhile to invest more up front on REVLAR because it lasts so long,” she notes. “With regular paper, we would have had to print hundreds of menus of multiple pages every few days. This requires paper and ink, as well as the time and effort of the person operating the printer.
