a few musical highlights
André Rieu open-air concerts 2010
For the sixth year in a row, André Rieu
will be giving no less than eight glorious
summer evening concerts in one of the
Netherland’s most beautiful squares. From
9 to 13 July inclusive and again from 16 to
18 July inclusive, the entire Vrijthof will be
transformed into one big open-air concert
venue.

L’Europe et l’Orgue 2010
The 50th edition of the L’Europe et l’Orgue
organ festival will be held from 11 July to
22 August inclusive. Notable Dutch organists will be performing works from the
entire European repertoire in the Onze
Lieve Vrouwebasiliek (Basilica of Our Lady)
and the Sint Servaasbasiliek (Basilica of St.
Servatius).

Sint Servaasbasiliek (Basilica of
St. Servatius) & Grameer bell
Sometimes, when you’re at the
Vrijthof, you can hear the deep tones
of the Grameer (“Grandmother”),
the giant bell of St. Servatius. The
original Grameer can be admired in
the courtyard of the Basilica of St.
Servatius. The carillon is also worth
listening to.
