PRESIDENT MESSAGE
GLEN BAILEY
Aloha Rotary Sunset Members,
"I'm Excited". Its Foundation Month!! We had a great Club
Assembly this past week where our ave of service leads told us about the great
things they are doing this year. It was very inspirational hearing and seeing our
plans to lead projects both here and internationally. At our meeting Rich
presented two of our Rotary International Foundation awards earned last
year. Our club is the lead when it comes to foundation giving in our district. I'm
also happy to report that we voted and passed our By-Laws.
Our meeting this coming Monday on November 10th is one you don't want to
miss. First of all we will be visited by 10 Rotarians from the Toba Rotary Club of
Japan. Next we will be inducting 3 new members. They are:
David Talbert - Retired Airline Pilot - Proposed by Win
Elvira Stanbro - Insurance Consultant - Proposed by Jan
Kathy Brooks - Retired-Beautician - Proposed by JB
Finally our guest speaker is Perry Springman lead singer/songwriter of the

This week’s speaker:
Perry Springman
Perry is the lead singer/songwriter of the Canadian band, Perry And The
Poorboys. Perry's band plays primarily in schools, clubs, festivals and
churches in Canada, The U.S., Europe, Australia, and South America. They
have shared stages with such artists as Bob Geldoff, Bonnie Tyler,
Thomas McClary (guitarist/songwriter from The Commodores), DC
Talk, Michael W. Smith, Six Pence, and Steve Taylor. Perry has
recorded 10 albums. The latest CD entitled Halfway Around, features the
song 'Where Will You Sleep Tonight,' a beautiful song about two little
girls; One of them lives in a very poor village in Africa, the other is Perry's
daughter, Emma.
Perry plays acoustic guitar, ukulele, and performs songs from his large
repertoire of original music, and is often accompanied by one or more of his
musician friends. Perry has a great passion for his work with World Vision
and their Child Sponsorship program. He says, "it gives me an opportunity
to give back a small amount of what I have received as a result in living in a
prosperous country." He is very thankful to able to help connect people in
the West with an impoverished child in need from the Third World!
No stranger to Rotary Clubs, Perry has presented at more than
25 Rotary Clubs just in the state of Hawaii alone!
