The Pink Paper
It is great to be back. I am sure
most of our families can say they
are glad to have their children
back into school and with their
heads down and tails up again as
they continue along their learning
journey.
At the end of last Term we had a
busy NAIDOC week here at school
with activities. Please have a look
at some of the pictures. (Also
available on Facebook!)
We also held our Athletics
Carnival on the Wednesday of the
last week.
Our Champions from the day
were :

Juvenile Boy:
Alecsis Spencer
Cameron Allen

Junior Boy:
Hayley Spencer
Nic O’Rourke

This Friday we have a team of 38
children heading off to the MidRichmond PSSA Carnival in Evans
Head. We wish them luck and know
they will do us proud.
This Term we have a couple of
major school community events
planned. Last details and design
modifications are being made to
Billy Carts ready for the Billy Cart
Derby – Tuesday August 9th….more
details to come. Children will also
be taking part in our Spaghetti
Circus joint project again. For 8
weeks the children will be
challenging themselves and
practicing physical skills as well as
group co-operation and trust.
Their work will culminate in a
school showcase performance later
in the Term. We will also be taking
part in the Lismore Performing Arts
Festival midway through the Term.
So lots happening, with children
engaged with their learning and
accepting challenges that bring new
discoveries and questions.
Please enjoy our journey with us
through the Pink Paper as we keep
you informed of what is happening
at Coraki Public School.
Until next time,
Principal,

Our riverfront will come alive with a
Viking village and medieval
festival, featuring markets, BBQ,
community bonfire and a main
evening filled with Viking
entertainment!
There’s much to do to get the riverfront
ready for the Viking invasion!
The Vikings take care of setting up the
village on the Friday, but it’s up to our
volunteers to do the rest and we want
to thank those that have already let us
know they’d like to pitch in! Our
volunteers will get a yummy medieval
meal free for giving us their time.
We welcome people who want to just
do a little bit, so to inspire you here’s
some of the jobs we need help with:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Collecting wood for the
community bonfire and
collecting bamboo and
making torches at a working
bee
Sewing bunting, tabbards and
crafting entry tokens at a
working bee
Setting up fencing the day
before
Setting up marquees, tables
and chairs and decorating the
morning before gates open at
10am
Manning the entry gates and
community tent for short
times from 10am to 7pm
Serving at the feast from 6pm
First aid for short times from
10am to 10pm
Photography for short times
from 10am to 10pm
And for those who really want to get
involved, get in touch as we’d love new
members to our group.
Email [email protected] or
call 0418 568 045.
DON’T MISS OUT ON TICKETS!
CINEMA ON THE RIVER
Any locals who want to have the special medieval
feast experience should know that it’s not pre-seated,
but tickets must be purchased in advance via
http://tix.yt/medievalmelee. For locals who don’t
have computer access but want to take part, call Kate
on 0418 568 045 for help.
The Vikings dined on long trestle tables with hearty
winter-warming foods. $35 a ticket gives you a unique
dining experience and a chance to say you ate like a
King…. Or as the Vikings would say, a Jarl!
Plus, dress up to really get into the fun with prizes on
offer for the best Game of Thrones, Vikings or Lord of
the Rings costumes! Make it a great night out with
your friends!
ROCK UP ON THE DAY
For all the families, bring blankets and low chairs to
the main event from 6pm and sit in Karl’s picnic,
riverside with access to the traditional medieval BBQ
and bar.
Your ticket includes; Viking village access, and as
locals, you can buy your ticket in the morning when
the village opens at 10am and stroll through the
village and markets, then come back ready to be
entertained at 6pm. Ask at the community tent for
your pass-out.
$15 is a bargain for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, or
individuals can pay $5 to get in.
When we last updated the
Pink Paper readers, we had
won funding from the
Quarry but hadn’t yet
received the money. The
money is now received and
our volunteers are working
to get the equipment in
that’s needed for regular
cinemas. Look out for a
monthly schedule coming
soon!
NEXT MAJOR EVENTS
We’ve pulled the pin on our
October riverside event
when we’d heard from the
Cooee Community
Fundraisers they were
aiming for the same thing.
That makes our next big
event our Christmas Carols
and Schools Spectacular
evening in December.
We highly recommend
anyone in the community
get along to any of the
upcoming Cooee
Community Fundraisers
events – they look like
they’ll be a blast and will do
a great job in fundraising
for Aussie farmers!
Brett and Liisa would like to welcome you to their

Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSW LHD) has awarded the building contract for the new$4 million Coraki Health One
facility. Woollam Constructions has been awarded the contract, and will take control of the building site on 18 July 2016. The
$4 million funding for the Coraki Health One facility was announced in March 2015 by Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis and
