Well the 2015 Ski-A-Rama is over. There were a lot of faces I haven’t seen for a while.
Always a pleasure to see familiar people at our meetings.
Now you know where our trips are going so get the lead out and sign up. Don’t wait too long as the trips
may fill up and you’ll be left at home wishing you had made reservations early. Our cheerful trip leaders are
always happy to have you sign-up for some really good skiing and friendly associates.
Remember – A club is only a good club if you participate and enjoy meeting others who
like to do what you like to do. Come out and meet us.
See you at the September picnic??? Social meeting??? General meeting???
Bob (Grouch)
About 22 people rode the Cal Sag trail for an 18 mile ride. It
was a beautiful day!
Next ride: September 20, Old Plank Road Trail – Departs at
10:00 a.m. from downtown Frankfort, Breidert Green Community Park, White and Kansas Streets.
Western ski trips and Europe trip from Cindy Vondrasek
We had the “Ski-A-Rama” event to kick off the 2016 season for our trips. And I think it was a success!
The season is starting off with a trip to Telluride and the cost will be $1680.00 per person. We have 3 openings for
this trip and once it is filled there will be a waiting list. This trip is from Sunday, February 7th through Sunday, February 14th, 2016. It will include lodging at Bear Creek Lodge (3 bedroom/3 bath units) which is located in the Mountain
Village with private lift access. Plus a five day lift pass, Round trip air on United Airlines, ground transfers and a pretrip party. Some of the amenities are:
Maid service every other day and a washer/dryer in each unit
Outdoor Heated Pool and Indoor/outdoor hot tubs
Health Fitness Room with Steam Room, Sauna & Jacuzzi
The next trip will be with CMSC for Chicago Week and it will be at Whistler Blackcomb in Canada. This trip will be
from February 27th through March 5th, 2016. This trip will be $1999.00 per person.
Seven nights lodging at the Ava Whistler hotel and Round trip airfare
5-day lift ticket and racing and 1 day of first-track breakfast
Mountain lunch and a Pub Crawl and a dinner banquet with music and dancing
Welcome reception and Apres-ski events plus other activities
**For those of you that have lots of air miles…we are offering a reduced price so you can use them.
If you are interested in staying longer (5th to 8th), for an extra $335.00 you can stay 3 nights at the Delta Vancouver
Suites, with full Canadian breakfast daily plus your transfers from the hotel to the airport.
Our last ski trip of the season is to Park City in Utah; from Saturday, March 5th through Saturday the 12th, 2016. The
cost will be around $1485.00 per person. It will include 7 nights lodging at the Park Station (2 bedroom/2 bath units)
condominiums, 3 day interchangeable lift pass for Park City and the Canyons, 2 day lift pass for Deer Valley, round trip
air on Delta Airlines, ground transportation and pre-trip party. There are 18
spots still available. Go to deervalley.com parkcitymountain.com thecanyons.com
We are headed to…Italy!
This trip will be from Saturday, April 23rd through Friday, May 6 th, 2016. The trip will include Round trip airfare, all ground transportation and lodging, plus breakfast daily. There will be a full day tour in each city for
the group. I don’t have the price finalized yet but it will cost about $2850.00 per person.
We are flying into Venice and will be staying at the hotel Venezia Mestre (2 per room) for four nights
(http://www.hotel-venezia.com/eng/index.asp). The hotel is situated in the heart of Venice Mestre, in an ideal
location and is 15 minutes from their downtown area. The bus service shuttles back and forth from the hotel every 10 minutes on a 24/7 basis (every 30 minutes at night).
Our next stop will be Florence. We will be staying four nights at the hotel Orto Dei Medici (2 per room).
The hotel has been newly refurbished and is nestled right in the vibrant center of Florence but off the bustling beaten path. Hotel Orto De’ Medici is just a stone thrown away from the Cathedral, The Academy of
Fine Arts with Michelangelo’s David, the Uffizi with its incomparable art collection, and the finest Italian
restaurants. Go to http://www.ortodeimedici.it/fr for more information and pictures.
Our last four nights will be spent in Rome. We will be staying at the Nizza hotel (2 per room). The Hotel
Nizza is located in the historical centre of Rome next to Termini Station and all the connections. It is only a
few steps from the major monuments like Colosseum, Imperial Forum, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi
Fountain, Opera's Theatre and much more. Go to http://www.hotelnizzaroma.com/fr/default.html for
more information.
Please contact Cindy Vondrasek at [email protected] for any additional information regarding this
trip. It will go on sale at the Nomad General Meeting on Thursday, September 17 th and the final cost will be
available at that time. A deposit of $750.00 is required at the time of signing up.

We had a great turnout for our golf outing at Woodruff Golf Course. Everyone had a great time and we are
hoping we can do a few of them next year.
Ski-a-Rama was a rousing success! The trips are selling and we are well on our way to a great ski season.
Many thanks to those who helped set up and clean up. Special thanks to Nancy Clarke who helped set up,
pass out the raffle gifts and cleaned up. And also to Alex Clausius, our raffle number caller. It is always nice
when people are willing to go out of their way to help.
With Ski-a-Rama behind us, we are looking forward to a Halloween and Christmas. Mark & Mary Anzilotti
and I are planning a special activity for Halloween. Attendance at our Halloween parties has dropped over
the years so we thought we would try something different. More details to follow!
Right behind Halloween, we will be looking forward to Christmas and our annual Christmas party. We are
planning something different for the Christmas party too. Please remember to shop for our toy and Veteran’s drives.
I thought it would be fitting to have a Halloween quote this month. This is from
scribes me to a “tee”:
Bob Hope and de-
“Ill bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween.”

An illustration of the first Labor Day parade, held
on Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City. The holiday was
organized by the Central Labor Union to exhibit
"the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and
labor organizations" of the community, and to host
a festival for the workers and their families.
Carnival weekend has always been a fun Club
event. Clubs compete for bragging rights, who will
bring home the Gold. This year it is not a Club only
event - sign up is per individual directly through Shanty
Creek. The games will be on Saturday as well as a
group dinner. Costume Contest will be at dinner or on
the slopes Sunday. We will keep you posted as the
event draws near.
Bus Information
45 people are required on the bus - or it may be
a BUST. On January 1st, 2015 a fianal tally will
be taken of how many people signed up for the
bus. If we have 45 people signed up for the
bus, final payment is due. If not, refunds will be
given for the $65.00 bus fee as well as the $100
down payment to Shanty Creek.
Trip Leaders, talk with your members and have them
sign up early. This is a fun trip. $100 down payment
and $65 for the bus. Due today through January 31,
2015.

Yes there will be a SLUSH CUP. Let the games
begin! One of Michigan's most popular winter events
for over 40 years. Watch the thrill of victory and the
agony of defeat as skiers and riders attempt to cross
an icy 40' pond. Some take it to another level with crazy costumes.
Other games scheduled are; frozen fish toss, snow
shovel racing and a seal slide - all part of the traditional wild and crazy weekend.
