conquered only by another form of secret pain ,that of losing yourself in the
cosmos and becoming part of the muddy streams of distant stars .Their soundworks
are constructed through the manipulation of natural sounds ,using the variation of
velocity and intensity of the recordings ,the cutting and splicing of tape . Etant
Donnes ‘s compositions are passionate and brutally communicative ,their music and
words are minimalist just like the writings and chants of the religious mystics sufi
,trying to recover the virginity of the words and sounds ,they map new territories and

VOD presents this collection of wonderful tracks by french Darkwave-Masters. Franck Lopez
and the other band-members have digged into their Archives and compiled a great selection
from their very rare Tapes plus other treasures
In parallel to its official vinyl/CD discography, OPERA MULTI STEEL recorded during the
eighties several K7 tapes including many unreleased tracks : « Autres Appels » (1985), «
Eternelle Tourmente » (1986), « OMS/Modern Art » (1987), « Je regarde la Pluie »(1987),«
Regret qui s’écaille » (1987) . Those K7's were home-duplicated in those times in very limited
quantities (between 100 and 300 copies).
This 3LP Box set is an anthology of the tracks featured on those different 80’s K7 tapes
(originally 2-track reel tape recorded) that were the seeds of some songs rearranged or
rerecorded later and even contains some demo versions of never-released songs. Those
different limited edition tapes are nowadays deleted and considered as real collector’s items.

Lest We Forget is a collection compiled from the earliest recordings by Nocturnal
Emissions, a group founded by Nigel Ayers, his brother Daniel Ayers and Caroline K in
1980. It comprises of material previously only available on cassettes as well as tracks
recorded under their earlier name, The Pump. The Nocturnal Emissions were active in what
has been known as “cassette culture” and explored the medium of underground cassette
exchange in parallel with their better known vinyl releases and live performances. They used
the available technology of the day in a spirit which seems to have anticipated modern social
networking through the Internet. This series of documents offers a rare glimpse at audio
sketchbooks; raw, unfinished works-in-progress and live performances by the group. It
covers a wide range of musical style by a group who were committed to radical
experimentation in both form and content. The box set also contains some previously
unreleased tracks from the early ‘80s which sound surprisingly contemporary and fresh.
The group has undergone several mutations since these early recordings and continued into
21st century as a solo project by Nigel Ayers. Caroline K left the group in 1984 and produced
one solo album before adopting a more private life. She remained a good friend and lived in
England, Sri Lanka, and finally in Italy. She married Danny Ayers in 2001. While the edit of
this collection was being assembled, she took ill with leukaemia and died during hospital
treatment a few days later. Caroline’s distinctively moody electronics, vocals and bass guitar
feature strongly on these albums. We offer this box set as a tribute to her life and work.

future? My guess is that we seek to capture some 'purity' that has since been encrusted with
quibbles. It's a hopeless fetish that leads in an ever contracting spiral - music is born
continuously and defies attempts to capture it in decorative tombs. Nevertheless. We have
here a very decorative tomb. Music made from 1977 onwards by people who would be
identified for a time as 'Severed Heads'. Much is by Richard Fielding who left in 1982. Some
by Andrew Wright, gone in 1980. Some by Bradbury, left in 1985, Deering also.
In each case the music has been taken from the best copy, cleaned only as much as needed
and organised to fit onto long playing vinyl. It is ancient, funny, half arsed, crinkly, clever and
juvenile. It was compiled by a prick. All proceeds will be spent by Fielding on horse races.

A 12" vinyl, double record set containing the music of EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS.
If you are a long time collector of 80s indie minimal synth looking to fill out your catalog
or a novice interested in starting one up, there is no better place to start than with
EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS.
A synth duo from Philadelphia/Northern Delaware USA, members Mark Wilde and
Michael Gross produced 8-track gear recordings, then had their music pressed to vinyl.
In 1984 they released the 3 song 12" EP "Glowing in the Dark", 2000 copies.
"Glowing" proved irresistible to DJs and became a 1985 dance club chart breakthrough.
Today, many DJs and collectors consider it a "classic" synth record.
2 years before "Glowing" they released a 10 song vinyl LP titled "PROTOTYPE", 300 copies.
PROTOTYPE remained an obscure record until minimal synth collectors caught wind of
it in the late 90s. PROTOTYPE became a high priced bidding item whenever the rare vinyl
showed up on E-Bay. It seems EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS had again produced what
many collectors consider a "classic" 80s minimal synth record.
VOD is now pleased to announce the re-issue of PROTOTYPE to high quality vinyl.
Re-mastered by VOD from the original 1/4" master tapes, this re-issue has improved
sonic quality not found on the original 1982 pressings. Own it now, experience it for yourself.
PROTOTYPE will be LP-1 side A+B of the VOD double record set.
GARAGE TRACKS, LP-2 of the EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS record set will hopefully
become yet another classic piece of synthesizer vinyl.
A "garage track" is described by M. Gross as a primitive to semi-pro sound recording not
necessarily intended for public distribution.
Originally intended or not, VOD now offer them to the synth loving public.
GARAGE TRACKS side-A contains 5 unreleased songs from 1985, all synth-drum machine,
again produced with 8-track gear this time in a band spare bedroom.
Anyone familiar with the band can expect more EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS brilliance.
GARAGE TRACKS side-B contains six songs from a 1983 LIVE performance.
There are live versions of 4 songs from PROTOTYPE, an unreleased song, and the song
Mannequin from the "Glowing" EP.

Gerechtigkeits Liga is the band/project which evolves around Till Brüggemann. In the early
80's GL travelled to London to meet up with Domnik Guerin of Twin Vision/SPK. Dominik
introduced them to Graeme Revell and Brian Williams of Lustmord, who were running Side
Effects Records and both of them decided to release an album by GL. Two more GL tracks
were also released on the seminal compilation Vhutemas Archetypi, which also featured
groups like Laibach, Lustmord & SPK.
The band is known for their mystical, almost martial and epic sounds, which can easily upset
the listeners emotions. Nothing for weak nerves...
VOD and TB compiled a perfect supplement to the Lp Hypnotischer Existenzialismus.
The double Lp set is covering the very early musical period of the band. It includes outtakes,
tape-contributions, a live performance from LA, as well as a Berlin Atonal-performance.

SPOON FAZER is the early 80’s solo project of Simon Patterson from the UK who got his
name from his band mates when playing in some in avant-garde punk bands in Devon and
London. He is still occasionally called ‘Spoon’ by old friends. Being originally a drummer,
fortunately Simon found interest in working with synthesisers and drum machines. On stage
he used to play his electronic drums with guess what … spoons, of course! SPOON FAZER
released the “Music 2 Dance 2” 7”EP (Project Records, Project 1, UK, 1980), Sunset 12”EP
(Illuminated Records, ILL 912, UK, 1982), which actually featured the first vinyl appearance
by Jimmy Caulty of later KLF fame, and was featured on the “East of Croydon” compilation
LP (Nothing Shaking Records, SHAK 1, UK, 1981). Apart from that, SPOON FAZER
recorded two tapes entitled “Bam Boo” and “Just another Man-in-Sect”. The four ‘most Anna
Logue-compatible’ songs from “Bam Boo” (recorded in 1982) were chosen for inclusion on
this beautifully designed 7”EP. “Bam Boo” was the musical expression of Simon’s obsession
with Japan which you will clearly hear throughout the tracks presented here. The last words
are Simon’s: “Spoon was a mask I wore! But I have now come to terms with the fact that

CAR CRASH SET were one of the very few electropop acts coming out of New Zealand and
have released several vinyls nationally between 1983 and 1986. Basically, the CAR CRASH
SET consisted of synthesists/composers David Bulog and Nigel Russell and guitarist/producer
Trevor Reekie, and was formed in late 1981. They created such outstanding electropop songs
with a Roland TR-606/808 and such lovely sequencing, - e.g. “Fall from Grace” is definitely a
song that Anna will take with her into her grave – that it is indeed a shame that they didn’t
receive more attention. Anyway, their 1983 12” ‘Two Songs’ (including “Outsider” and “Fall
from Grace”) and the V/A ‘We’ll do our best’ LP (including CAR CRASH SET’s “Toys”) are
at least highly collectible items amongst electropop connoisseurs and many people will be
happy to see these tracks being available again as well as four previously unavailable demos
from both their earliest and later days. David and Nigel are said to be recording again together
with only the original Roland gear (“nothing else will do” as David says): TR-606, Jupiter-4,
MC-4, System 100m modular and System 104 sequencer as well as Nigel’s Korg MS20… oh

TWINS NATALIA … is a most unreachable dream coming true! Being involved in this
project, I feel a bit timid writing this. Anyway, the TWINS NATALIA songs are unique
products of creative minds working together in order to write some beautiful, catchy and
substantial electropop songs combining an early 80’s musical approach (analogue drum
machine sounds, way of sequencing, etc.) with up-to-date recording techniques. TWINS
NATALIA is one of the many brainchildren of Steve Lippert, Anna’s permanent and
wonderful graphic designer, who we owe so much. The basic musical ideas are composed by
Marc Schaffer creating a basic melancholic and melodic structure. Additional composition,
arrangement and performance by Dave Hewson, with beautiful lyrics and vocal lines added
by Sharon Abbott, performed by Sharon, and Julie Ruler, the latter three well-known from
actually being POEME ELECTRONIQUE. In the end, for me this is close to being the perfect
electropop. Further tracks are at early stages so a complete TWINS NATALIA album is
planned for 2009.

Russolo is the forefather and theorizer of the “Electronic music” concept and for sure we can
say today that he was the first man playing “Industrial” muzak !
For this project we found four artists which are known for being since their first approaches to
music as “Neo-Futurists” and uncompromising “Industrial”

his very “Futurist” performances whre a click becomes the main sound !
- Merzbow from Japan, the father of Japanese noise ! this is the sound Russolo was playing
if alive today

artists using toy instruments !
- Sacher Pelz from Italy, Sacher Pelz was the very first project by Maurizio Bianchi also
known as MB , he was one of the very first artist theorising electronic noise !

Wierd Records in New York City is pleased to present as its innaugural release the "Wierd
Compilation"(VR001), featuring 32 tracks by 15 bands which have performed live at WIERD Brooklyn's premier weekly DJ and live music party showcasing artists and DJs working within
the post-wave, coldwave, and minimal synth genres of alternative pop and dance music
since 2003. The sound of this international collection of bands ranges from uptempo analog
synthesizer based electronic dance music influenced by early minimal synth and industrial
dance to post-wave guitar driven music suggesting the influence of the European Coldwave
and classic British and American post-punk sounds. The "Wierd Compilation" is made up of 3
vinyl LPs and a 7" vinyl single packaged in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, and is accompanied by

Wierd Records is proud to present the Wierd Compilation Volume II : Analogue Electronic
Music 2008, an international collection of 39 trax by 30 bands producing contemporary music
with analogue synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines. This release is made up of
four vinyl LPs packaged in a deluxe gatefold sleeve and accompanied by a 32 page 12" x
12" book containing lyrics, band bios, and over 300 photos, many taken from live
performances at the weekly Wierd label party, which has been active in New York City since
2003. Also included in the booklet is a statement of purpose for this vast project entitled
'2008 : The Analogue Synthesizer as a Folk Instrument of Humanist Resistance' that is as
ambitious conceptually as it is musically.
Over the past several years, electronic musicians have slowly removed themselves from the
visceral aspect of musical expression as they have more completely embraced the computer
as the generator of contemporary sounds. It is in this climate that the Wierd Compilation
Volume II proposes that analogue electronic music no longer represents a post-apocalyptic
vision of an uncertain 'post-human' future as it once did at the inception of New Wave in the
late 1970's. Today, the situation is precisely the opposite. In the world of 'click and drag'
virtual software synths, the analogue instrument represents a new form of resistance by
preserving and affirming the human presence of the artist through his direct interaction with
the machines and the electricity that runs through them. In doing so, the supposedly
outdated instrument is reborn as a folk instrument not unlike the acoustic guitar, violin, or
hand drum.
Inspired by the seminal compilations of early industrial music such as Xtract Records' 'The
Elephant Table Album' and 'Three Minute Symphony', Third Mind Records' 'Life at the Top',
and the 'Insane Music' cassette series, the Wierd Compilation Volume II brings together
independent artists from the new minimal electronic music scene emerging in New York,
Miami, and all throughout continental Europe with the the firmly established Noise scene in
the US. In the same spirit that these early genre-traversing compilations brought together
both pop and experimental artists who were united by their resistance to the superficial
excesses of commercial New Wave, the artists on this release are united by their DIY
attitude and their resistance to the virtual excesses of modern laptop pop. All have found
analogue synthesizers to be the ideal instrument for producing raw, emotive music in a world
where the human touch and presence is quickly getting clicked and dragged into oblivion.

First released in 1982 as SG002, Clogsontronics now puts out a re-release of
the Störung album 'This Is Future'. The original mastertape still in perfect
condition was used for this one. Carefully some minor corrections were done
to make it sound like it should have compared to the original pressing.
Clogsontronics brings out this one in a new concept: A release both on vinyl
and CD in one package. The buyer gets the art and analog feeling of the vinyl
as well as the convenience and technical quality of the CD. For best results
the vinyl was cut using the DMM cutting process and pressed on 180 grams
vinyl. Also included in the package are 2 stickers similar to the ones the band
used for promotion back in the old days. The release is limited to 700 hand
number stamped copies (matched numbers for both vinyl and CD) with lyrics
and credits on the inner sleeve.

ever. "Songs of Love and Revolution" was a big step forward for the band,

Disputed and celebrated: Hermann Nitsch, Actionist and painter, composer and stage
designer. He is one of the most renowned Austrian artists of today and nevertheless still
divides the art world as before.
Nitsch belongs beside Guenter Brus, Otto Muehl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler to the most
important main actors of Viennese Actionism. At the beginning of the sixties he carried out
his first ‘Actions’ in Vienna, which involved several trials and three terms of imprisonment.
His main work, the "Orgy Mystery Theatre", inspired by Greek mythology, as well as by
Antonin Artaud or Sigmund Freud, has been introducing, building up and carrying on all art
forms since this time.
On the DVD there is a 4-hour overview of all ‘Actions’ of 1962-2003, as well as an interview
from 2005. The 100-page book (German/English) with a text by Florian Schreiner and
numerous photos explains the theoretical basis of Nitsch’s work. On the CD are recordings
of the 122nd ‘Action’ in the castle theatre Vienna.

This is the first compilation on Anna Logue Records bringing you electronic pop
music from international artists dating back to 1979 to 1984 - as already mentioned
somewhere else here - the anna/logue years! Most tracks are heard for the very first
time. It was indeed a task compiling this one but it was so worth it! DADA DI MUSICA
and The TWO are projects by Dutch artist Hero Wouters, JEFF WALTON was
normally not into electronics but some day the American seemed to feel like
recording this electropop hit. BOYS DU SEVERE was a Canadian project from
around the mysterious MONTY CANTSIN/Neoism circles. INFORMATICS and their
member VALEK from Australia need not much presentation, you all surely know their
release ‘Accidents in Paradise’. BERND KUNZE from Germany was found by
accident He’s a home recording artist much in the vein of IAN ELMS. THE HIGHER
PRIMATES from the USA are also well-known by now. VEX from Canada comprising
Alan Lord and Bernard Gagnon (CHAM PANG) present the earliest track on this
compilation dating back to 1979, a truly pioneering work! INVISIBLE ZOO from the
USA bring us a powerful electropop tune. SOLITAIRE from the USA was a one-man
project with pioneering live-electronics. GILDED YOUTH from Australia are known
now as well including a member from SECOND GLANCE and having been released
on the Reminiscent compilation. PERFECT JEWISH COUPLE from the USA present
a track from their recently self-released CD and The TWO close the album with a

ADN’ CKRYSTALL is Érick Moncollin (aka Dr. Strange), an artist from France and truly a
pioneer in electronic music since the mid-70’s. Already in 1976, he was jamming with
Vangelis and Tim Blake in Paris, and he was also testing the KORG MS20 in its flat
prototype version (and is still owning and using a MS10 prototype today!). In 1982, he
released his first album “Jazz’mad” which definitely is in Anna’s Top-5-electronic-musicalbums list. The unique weirdness and brilliance of this album is unequalled and a class of its
own. Érick never stopped playing and recording electronic music, but, of course, styles
changed over the years. In late 2006, “Jazz’mad” was nearing its 25 years anniversary, and
thus Anna asked Érick if he wasn’t interested in recording a sister album to it - in “Jazz’mad”
style, of course! Érick enthusiastically agreed and armed himself with his two Kawai
Synthesizer-100Fs, Korg KR-33, CRB’1969 Diamond 742, Roland Juno-60, Roland JX-3P,
MXR phaser 100, Boss Flanger BF-2 and SDE200 Delay. Paired with his weird performing
skills, “Minilab” is a worthy companion to “Jazz’mad” and no-one into minimal electronics
shall miss out on it.

SUDETEN CRECHE is Mark Warner and Paul Carlin from the UK and probably they need
not much presentation. Their minimalistic electropop track “Are Kisses are out of Fashion”,
originally released on the 1982 compilation EP “Europe in the Year Zero” (which amongst
others also featured Yazoo), is widely known and respected. Furthermore, they released the
four-track 12”EP “Kindergarten” in 1983 on Illuminated Records, which is, of course, very
hard to find these days. Anyway, Mark and Paul teamed up again and recorded new tracks
for their upcoming album “Kisses from the Creche” - for more info please visit

pre-release presenting alternative versions of “Glorious Treason” and “Wounds”, while

»Torch Songs« is a collaboration between Jonathan Coleclough and Andrew Liles. They met
in October 2004 when they both performed at Intergration 3 in Preston, UK. Liles
subsequently reworked the recording of Coleclough's solo performance from that evening.
He went on to add, subtract, multiply and divide further live recordings supplied by
Coleclough, and the eventual result was this double LP. »Torch Songs« is packaged in a
gatefold sleeve featuring »I dreamt I was a river«, a poem composed and painted by Geoff
Sawers during a performance with Coleclough in Geneva in March 2005. The sound of
Geoff's brush painting this lettering can be heard on side B of »Torch Songs«. There is a
special edition of »Torch Songs« (250 copies) which includes an additional CD of
Coleclough's solo performance at Intergration 3, the basis for some of the music on »Torch
Songs«. The album comes in a full colour gatefold sleeve with full colour inner sleeves in a
limited edition of 500 copies. 180gr. Vinyl.

The sound of CHEN YI is rough & brutal... electronic music, soundcollages
that reminds to Throbbing Gristle or (early)SPK aswell as electro-pop-tracks
& songs like early Cabaret Voltaire, Chris & Cosey, Severed Heads...
The Chen Yi Commune was founded in 1978 by about 20 women & men from London. The
aim of the commune was to create a closed subsystem, a kind of subsociety and to narrow
down its contact to the outside world only on very few specific actions.
The Chen Yi commune never was interested in producing records, some of the members
even refused any form of release whatsoever. In 1981 one member released a tape edition
called “Hanging!. The title referred to the first 3 english witches who were hanged in
Chelmsford, where the commune house was located. This cassette was sent to various
record companies. John Peel saw a potential in Chen Yi which led to a recording contract in
1982/83 with CBS. About 7 tracks were produced for the first Chen Yi LP... ...More couldn't
be finalised, because CBS suddenly pulled out of the contract. This left unfinished tapes of
an LP.The material on this LP contains completely finished song-material as well as
rough session-recordings using early electronic studio equipment.
- Philip Sanderson "Reprint" CD Anomalous Records (U.S.) NOM23 14,99 !
Reprint was originally released on cassette by Snatch Tapes in 1980 and was credited to an
unknown duo called Claire Thomas & Susan Vezey. A press release accompanying the
cassette painted a picture of two pre-Raphaelite synthesiser knob-twiddlers who in between
repatching their VCS3's went for long walks in flowing robes on Blackheath.
Intrigued, the record label Cherry Red included the duo on their compilation LP "Perspectives
and Distortion" alongside such luminaries as Matt Johnson, Virgin Prunes, Lol Coxhill,
Lemon Kittens, Eyeless in Gaza, Mark Perry, Ben Watt, Thomas Leer, Morgan-Fisher,
Robert Fripp, and David Jackman. Cherry Red furthermore wanted to release an LP by
Thomas & Vezey. Until they realised that all was not as it seemed.
Claire and Susan were in fact a figment of Snatch Tapes founder Philip Sanderson's
imagination. In addition to running the label, Philip was one half of the DIY electronic group
Storm Bugs, and regularly collaborator with a then unknown musician by the name of David
Jackman (one of these tracks they did together was recent issued on a 10" by Die Stadt).
"Reprint" was in effect one of his few solo recordings.
The first track Bright Waves (an earlier version of the track on the Cherry red LP) with its
fragile wispy vocals that blow in and out on a tape delay breeze certainly adds credence to
the Claire and Susan subterfuge. However the rest of the music on the CD suggest that this
was more than a situationist prank. The description on the sleeve of the music as "a study in
repetition and change using two different sources and two different treatments..." was a nod
towards the materialist approaches being used during the 70's in most (fine) art forms.
"Reprint One" and "Reprint Two" use the loop formed by a tape delay to build up busy
percussive patterns. Recorded live, the VCS3 triggered by a sequencer feeds in a set of
constantly chattering rhythms. As the loops pass repeatedly over the tape heads the sound
gradually degrades turning eventually into pure white noise. What starts out as a
polyrhythmic perversity, somewhat akin to electronic tap dancing, builds into a wall of sound.
Also here is the piece "Under Press of Sail" (which was featured on the compilation "Snatch
3" and the "0° North" tape by David Jackman and Philip Sanderson), and the secret bonus
track "Nein Nein Nein", which was only included a few copies of the original tape release of
"Reprint". Unlike the other tracks, this was done in collaboration with fellow Storm Bug
Steven Ball. Using a low-tech five-minute answer-phone cassette loop with the erase head
disabled, the two built up a montage of sounds which were fed through a home-made ring
modulator.
The music of Reprint is a peculiar combination of academic rigour married to an inverted pop
art aesthetic. For whereas pop art incorporated the cheap intoxication's of consumer culture
into the supposed lofty rooms of high art, here was an attempt to incorporate the form or
perhaps just the smell high art into the low brutality of DIY electronics.
