we celebrate what we do best — dining, designing, and making a diffarence! And this year, what
a beauty this design feast set before us!

Board of Directors under the leadership of chair Steve Kadlec and Vice Chair Kim Winzeler!
Your leadership, passion, and vision are invaluable to our continued success. Thanks to the

LETTER FROM THE CHICAGO CHAIRS
DEAR FRIENDS OF DIFFA/CHICAGO:
On behalf of the entire Dining by Design 2014 committee, we want to thank all the individuals
and companies that have worked so hard to make this event a reality.
For the last twelve years, DIFFA’s Dining by Design has raised hundreds of thousands of
dollars for HIV/AIDS service organizations in the Chicagoland area, through the creation of
innovative and beautiful dining environments. Diffa’s unrestricted grants provide direct service
for people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as preventative education and outreach to those at risk
and the funds raised during this event are instrumental in providing those grants.
The theme and identity of this year’s event, “Beauty and the Feast”, builds on the successes of
the past eleven years, and takes the event to an entirely different place. We couldn’t be more
excited about the opportunities this identity has afforded us to attract new audiences and inject
new vitality into an already popular event… all the while raising funds for our grant organizations. Thank you to Richard Cassis of sparc, inc. for his leadership in creating this vision for
Dining by Design.

support this year. The Design Center at the Merchandise Mart Properties continues to support
us with location, logistics and connections for which we are truly grateful. Plus we are always
