This document provides information that supplements the Blue Manager on-line Help file.
Information in this document is subject to change without notice.
Blue Manager Overview
Blue Manager is a Bluetooth communication software application that enables users to manage
their wireless personal area network from a single, easy-to-use program. It allows users to
wirelessly interact with and manage remote Bluetooth devices. With Blue Manager, users can
discover devices, browse folders, and exchange files with remote devices. Additionally, the
application loads virtual COM ports, enabling users to perform wireless Dial-up Networking,
LAN Access and serial based functions with Bluetooth supported mobile phones, modems and
access points.
Installation Notes
This section contains important information about installing Blue Manger for Windows.
•
Blue Manager requires Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
•
The on-line Help file has detailed instructions on how to use Blue Manager.
Changes and Updates from Version 1.0.4 to 1.0.5d
•
Support has been added for the statically install legacy COM ports.
•
Modify ESIBTCOM.INF to support Serial port as a server on Windows 98SE.
•
Modify Btcomm.sys for HP Bluetooth printer.
Changes and Updates from Version 1.0.5d to 1.0.6a
•
Stack is updated to latest 1.3.6 version;
•
Simultaneous Bluetooth connections are now supported allowing the use of multiple
Bluetooth ports at the same time to communicate to multiple remote devices.
•
The Call GetDeviceHandele() has been modified not to do an automatic Name Discovery.
Applications relying on the automatic Name Discovery may need to be updated to handle
this modification.
•
The Monitor UI has been changed to allow modifications to Security Level 3 encryption
settings.
Changes and Updates from Version 1.0.6a to 1.0.7
•
In Windows 2000, the Modems with Bluetooth DUN COM port, Bluetooth LAN COM port
and Bluetooth Serial COM port will be added automatically when installing Blue Manager.
•
When Blue Manager is installed, the two new connection will be created:”Bluetooth Dial-up
Connection” and “Bluetooth LAN Connection Client”.
•
Change some strings and icon , so the user interface looks more friendly.
•
In Windows 98SE, DCOM will be installed automatically.
•
After the program installed and before dialog of reboot, some message will be displayed to
notice user what is being done.

1.0.8 can run with both USB dongle and PC Card, the drivers for USB dongle and PC Card
are combined together;
•
When cancel dial-up network procedure, there will no jump out menu to bother user;
•
User can dial-up to internet by choosing the available device from Device Item without
refreshing the In Range Devices;
•
Browse Bluetooth-enabled PDA without problems.

A Bug was fixed in Creating Dial- up Connection. It may cause turn off slow after
Blue Manager is installed.
Improve Find Service and Property feature. It will decrease the Error dialogue.
Faster device searching speed, the devices will be displayed immediately when they
are found.
Fixed bug on Cancel feature.
Improved Select Default Device feature.
User can select different devices as default devices on each virtual COM ports. And
user can remove the default devices at any time.
Added new device icons, include printer etc.
Add Blue manager to system tray, so Blue Manager can runs in the background.
When install Blue Manager 2.0 under Windows XP, there are no Warning messages
at all, system will recognize Windigo Bluetooth drivers and devices automatically;
Don’t show error message when click Blue Manager twice.
Make dongle works with Nokia 7650.

Auto Refresh new feature that can automatically search in range Bluetooth Enabled
Devices, user can set the time by clicking Tools-->Options-->setting;

Fixed some bugs:
1. After uninstallation, sometimes unistallation program will cause problems that
some applications cannot work properly;
2. Before version 2.1, Blue Manager could not work when laptop computer wakes up
from Sleep Mode or Standby Mode;
3. Fixed the bug that user cannot cancel bi-directional file transfer;
4. Fixed the bug that Blue Manager doesn’t work after plugging in/out USB Dongle.

Improved the stability of Bluetooth Connections.
Known Issues
File Transfer
•
•
Bi-directional operations (such as sending files in both directions at once) using file
transfer are not fully supported. Device Driver
To install the proper device drivers, be certain that the system has all other
Bluetooth vendors’ INF files removed prior to device installation. This is a common
trouble spot, especially with CSR driver files.
Cleanup98/2k
•
In the earlier version of Blue Manager, if user uninstalls Blue Manager, many
system files cannot be removed from system and registry. Run Cleanup98.bat or
Cleanup2k.bat (depending upon OS version---- note that cleanup98 also works for
Windows ME and cleanup2k works for Windows XP also) to eliminate SYS, INF
and PNF files from the system. Run Cleanupreg98.bat or Cleanupreg2k.bat to
eliminate all registry entries from registry. To users who are using newer version of
Blue Manager such like 2.0/1.08/1.07 don’t need to run Cleanup98/2k or
Cleanupreg98/2k anymore.
Display Limitations (Views, etc.)

If entries are added to the Tools menu using the Customize dialog, those
changes will be lost when Blue Manager is restarted.
Selecting AutoArrange in the View Mode menus will sometimes cause the
details menu to completely disappear until AutoArrange is selected again.
Exit Blue Manager
•
If user need to reboot Windows System, we strongly recommended that user
close Blue Manger from system background before rebooting. The picture
below shows the detail how to exit from system background.
Change or cancel the default device
•
When user dial-up to internet, they can set a device as default device, it is easy to set the
default, but to lower versions, it is very difficult to cancel or change the default device.
With new 2.0, below are the way shows how to cancel or change your default device.
The picture below shows how to set your default devices.
These three pictures below shows how to change or cancel your default devices:
Finish all the three steps shown upon, the default device set in the previous dial-up
procedure will be cancelled or changed.
About Windows XP
Statement
•
The current version of Blue Manager v2.0 is compatible with windows XP;
•
The versions before 2.0 will create warning messages during the installation under
Windows XP, Blue Manager 2.0 solved this problem and no more warning messages at all.
