R e p l a c et h e c y l i n d e rw i t h t h e w o r d I n g e r s o l al t t h e t o p a n d s e c u r et h e c y l i n d e rt o t h e f i x i n g p l a t ew i t h t h e f o u r c o n n e c t i n g screws. 6 Fit the lock by first engaging aheconnecting bar into the driving recess.Then tiltthe lock and move it away from the edge of the door so that the liD at the rear of the case can engag€ with the raisedportion at the rear ol the fixing plate. Swing the forend down and move the lock towards the edge of the doorf ully to engagethe l i p a n d p o s i t i o nt h e f o r e n d i n i t s r e c e s s . 7 Fix the two small screws in the lock caseto engagewith the fixing plale. Screw in firmly but do not over-tighten. Fit the two 1" x No.8 wood screws in the lock forend. Test lock operation. (see Test Lock Operation) Withdraw bolt by meansof the k n o b a n d e n g a g es n i b Close the door and extend two pencil lines from top and b o t t o m o f t h e l o c k c a s eo n t o t h e d o o r j a m b . 8 Use the staple template between these lines to mark the doorjamb andfixing screwholes. REPLACIIIG AIIIEXISTITTG CYIIITDER TATCH The NS 80 will replacean ordinary narrow stile nightlatch with certain modificationsto the door. When replacinga nightlatch with 38mm (1 !") backserrhe 32mm (1]") hole in picture 2 will already he in the door, but it will be necessary to use a padsaw and chisel to: CuttheI 0 mm (i|') groovesfor lugson the Ingersoll cylinderassembly asshownin picture2. Adjustasnecessary,the recessin thefrontedgeof the doorot housethedeadlockforend. NOTE : lf the existing hole has to be enlargedslighily to allow conect positioning of the NS 80 key cytinder, any hole showing outside the edge of the key cylinder can be covered . by using a doorpull. (see picture I 1 ). IiIPORTAilT: Locking and unlocking the operating knob can be carried out only f rom inside the door. When leaving the house empty, turn the key in the knob and withdraw it before shutting the door Do not lock the knob with any person inside the premises who has not a key or alternative means of exit. Always remember to unlock the knob when you have opened the door after returning to the premises, To lock the knob when the house is occupied, insert the key in the knob, turn 18(toanticlockwise and remove with the door closed. ln the intercsts of top secuilty and product improvement tngeBol! KEYREGISTRAIIOT'| To obtain the benefit of Ingersoll Key Registrationensurethe completed registrationcard is r€turnedto Ingersoll Locks L i m i t e dw i t h o u t d e l a y . countersank 8mmDia. : TESTLOCKOPEBATIOil NOTE: Carry out tests with door open. 1 Checkthatdeadboltis retractedinto lock case. 2 Depressspringbolt,which willautomaticallythrowbolt. 3 Use key in outside cylinder to withdraw deadbolt. 4 Depressspringbolt to throw deadbolt again. and this time withdraw by turning inside knob. 5 Depressspringbolttothrowdeadlockand lockknobby insertingkey into knob and turning 180o anticlockwise. 6 Check that key still withdraws the deadbolt from outside of door. 7 C h e c k t h a th a n d l ei s s t i l l l o c k e d . 8 Unlock handle by inserting key and turning 180. clockwise. 9 Check operation of stopwork catch which retains. deadbolt in retractedposition : a Ensuredeadbolt is withdrawn. b Depressplunger on lock case. c Depressspringbolt to confirm that deadbolt does not now throw. d Releasestopwork by turning knob.
