Fashions styled
for real life
LOVING your body exactly as it is
will be a key feature to this year’s
Girls’ Night Out fashion show.
Event organisers are keen to
showcase feminine curves.
Six of the 12 women destined for
the 16th November catwalk were
discovered by model scouts for
magazine Highland Life. They are
not professional catwalk models.
Catwalk show organiser Pauline
Burnett (editor of Highland
Life) said: “Stylists and TV
personalities such as Gok Wan have
revolutionised how we look at our
own bodies as women. He’s really
led the way in terms of teaching us
to love how we are and to celebrate
our feminine form, whatever it may
be.
“One of our models is a size 6, and
one is a size 18. We have specifically
chosen women to represent a range
of ages and size because that is true
to real life. What we’re supporting
here is acceptance of who we are
and falling in love with exactly that.
“Lumps, bumps and anything in
between can be celebrated because
that is representative of the female
form. There is no norm to try to
squeeze yourself into; women
simply need to find comfort in their
own skin, exactly as they are. Two
people who are a size 12 will not
be the same shape. We are each
unique.”
The Girls’ Night Out is a fun and
hugely popular way for more than
30 exhibitors to showcase the best
of fashion, lifestyle, health and
beauty in the north of Scotland in
support of the ARCHIE Foundation.
The stunning outfits for the show
have been chosen from a range of
top stores in Inverness including
Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, East,
H&M, and Top Shop.
Guaranteeing the models look
their best on the catwalk are
Suzanne Ewing of Connect Hair and
make-up artist Izabela Zabnicki of
Perfect U.
Izabela said: “I have had a
passion for make-up since I was
a child and turned professional
six years ago. I love how a hint
of colour, or knowing how to
illuminate someone’s skin tone can
totally transform how they look
in a matter of minutes. Make up is
not only about looking good, it’s
about how the person feels when
they’re wearing it, and that’s where
the added confidence, power and
sensuality comes forth.”
Suzanne and her team (Meaghan
Crook, Jodie Day and Nikki
Cartwright) will be amping up
that radiant look with fabulous
hairstyles. Suzanne said: “This is
the fourth year that we’ve been
supporting the models for the
ARCHIE Foundation and we are
thrilled to be taking part. I know
that the organisers have selected
a number of top local women to
model this year and that’s a great
way to celebrate individuality.
“This is a fashion show rather
than a hair show so our aim is to
compliment and polish their final
look. We like to work in harmony
with the outfits and the personal
style of each woman. We get
involved with community events
and fund-raising wherever possible
and it’s a real honour to support the
ARCHIE Foundation through the
Girls’ Night Out.”

see what’s on offer throughout the
