Materials

Roble
Teak
(Amburana caerensis)
A hardwood which is light
yellow in colour and has a
smooth lustre. It’s strength
is similar to Teak. It has a
durability of up to 25 years
and is sourced from Bolivia.
Our Roble is FSC certified
(Tectona grandis) A hardwood
which is brown in colour
and has a striped grain. Its
naturally high oil content gives
resistance to extreme weather,
making it very durable with
a lifespan of up to 25 Years.
Our premium grade Teak is
sourced from Brazil and is FSC
certified
Mahogany
Cornis
(Meliaceae family)
A hardwood that is pinkish in
colour and darkens to a typical
Mahogany reddish brown. It
has a durability of up to 12
years and is sourced from The
Congo, Central Africa. Our
Mahogany is FSC certified.
(Eucalptus tereticornis) is a
dense close grained hardwood,
which has been oiled giving
each piece of furniture a
smooth brown finish. Our
Cornis timber originates
from the Eucalyptus trees in
Uruguay and has a durability
of up to 10 years. Our Cornis
is FSC certified.
New England
Pine
(Eucalyptus
tereticornis)
A hardwood coated in a
polyurethane satin finish white
paint. The timber is a species
of Eucalyptus sourced from
Uruguay and has a durability
of up to 10 years. Our New
England is FSC certified.
(Pinus Sylvestris) A soft wood
with an impressive yellow/
green grain. Our pine comes
from Poland and needs to
be treated with a softwood
preservative to give it a
durability of up to 10 years.
Our Pine is FSC certified.
Ocean
Avant Classic
The Ocean range is woven in
a unique ‘V’ and open weave
pattern. Using 7mm & 12mm
flat triple tone bronze Rose
Fibres. This is then woven onto
a powder coated aluminium
frame. Comes with a 10 year
warranty.
We use grade 304 stainless
steel tubular sections that
are chemically pickled and
naturally
pasivated
for
weather protection. The steel
contains chromium to provide
a passive film of chromium
oxide that prevents surface
corrosion.
Portofino
Our mild steel begins with
a phosphate treatment to
prevent rust. Next is a cathodic
dip where a layer of primer is
evenly applied, followed by a
metallic grey powder coating
resulting in a stylish finish.

beautiful garden furniture available, in a selection of
contemporary and traditional designs. So whether
you prefer precise angles and horizontal joints, or
traditional classic designs – here you will find the

Manufactured in our own factory in Bolivia, this FSC
100% timber is extremely durable. It has a smooth
lustre, with a closely interlocked light yellow grain.

Pine is an extremely popular softwood for making
garden furniture. Carefully sourced from responsibly
managed forests in Eastern Europe, each piece has
been treated in order to make it suitable for outdoor
use. The timber has a figurative grain and the yellow
green colour will mellow over time to an attractive
grey.

Timber Treatment
Bench Covers
Alexander Rose manufactures garden furniture which will last for many years.
Over time, as part of the natural weathering process, cracks and splits will
appear in the wood particularly on the end grain and to a lesser extent on the
surface. The drier the wood, the more cracks will appear due to the evaporation
of natural oils and minerals in the wood from exposure to the elements. As with
most hardwoods, this is a normal characteristic for any timber which remains
outdoors.
These covers are designed to cover almost any bench. These covers protect
against the build up of dirt and ensure less furniture maintenance is required.
The covers are designed to be removed and installed easily so you can enjoy
your furniture straight away. The covers come with ties and cords for securing
to the furniture.
Our timber furniture is designed with this in mind and its strength and durability
will remain unaffected. Wooden furniture can be treated with our specially
formulated care products to give a beautiful rich finish and enhance the look of
the wood. Alternatively it can be left to turn a mellow silver grey, and should be
cleaned occasionally with
soapy water.

Timber Maintenance

Bench Engravings
Weathering occurs over a period of time, you can expect to see changes in the
timber after a few weeks. Timber is a natural material, it absorbs moisture in wet
conditions and is likely to expand. In dry conditions the timber dries and may
shrink a very small amount,
Alexander Rose offers an engraving service with three options, brass plaque,
stainless steel plaque and direct engravings onto our furniture. Our brass
plaque offer a more traditional look for your inscription. Stainless steel plaques
provide a more contemporary look with a silver shine, they will not rust.
as the material moves surface cracks will appear in the timber. You can maintain
the appearance of your furniture by lightly sanding down the timber and
applying one of our formulated care products, see below for results.
If you are looking for something unique we offer a direct engrave service, your
inscription is carved directly into the timber by a computer aided engraving
machine. A direct engraving will mellow down along with the bench to a silver
grey finish if left untreated.

New England Maintenance
Alexander Rose New England furniture is produced in a matt white finish,
this is the result of two coats of polyurethane paint to the Eucalyptus timber.
After time there may be hairline cracks in the finish, this is due to the timber
moving. Expansion and contraction of timber is normal and is caused by climatic
variation, this becomes noticable around the joints.
We have designed two types of anchors for different surfaces, the most
common being lawns. Using an Alexander Rose soft ground anchor kit avoids
the need for concrete, installation is quick and easy without any mess. Our soft
ground anchors come with solid brass plates that screw onto the outside legs,
these have sleeves to allow the anchors to pass through and penetrate the
surface.
When an anchor approaches its maximum depth (500mm) a curved fluke is
released to grip the bench further into the surface, adding more security. Our
bolt down anchors are designed to be used with concrete, they have a maximum
depth of 110mm and requires a 20mm masonary drill bit to install them.
Accessories
The New England benches are designed to be used outside, we recommend
regular maintenance to retain its original condition, this can be done by sanding
the effected area down to the natural timber, a reddish colour, then re-apply
evenly a white matt polyurethane paint to the area. Polyurethane paint can be
purchased from any DIY or Hardware store, if you are unsure about what paint
to use please contact Alexander Rose.
