A Note from the Principal
A Note from the Principal
May 2, 2015
Dear Supporters of St. Paul Lutheran School:
Let me take this opportunity to personally thank you for your
support of the St. Paul Lutheran School Annual Benefit Auction. You
might be asked, “Why does one of the area’s most popular parochial
schools ask for financial support from its families and the community?” St.
Paul Lutheran School is built differently from almost every other parochial
school in our surrounding counties. Our enrollment consists of a small
number of church families; most families are from the community. St.
Paul Lutheran School welcomes children and their families from all
congregations. Our annual expenses are more than the tuition charged,
thus the school is a major ministry of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Thank
you for the commitment you make in tangible donations, time, or funding
gifts. Your personal commitment to the Auction allows St. Paul Lutheran
School the opportunity to raise dollars for supplies that enhance the
Christian education provided for tomorrow’s leaders. The growth of the
Craig Thomas Scholarship Fund and the School Endowment Fund are
now moving forward. The plans for utilizing personal devises in the
classroom have now begun. Utilizing apps as part of the overall
curriculum is part of the global vision for St. Paul Lutheran School. The
support that you personally have shown to these projects is greatly
appreciated.
Please know that in my retirement I will be praying for you as you
work on future projects and the continued growth of St. Paul Lutheran
School and the Annual Benefit Auction. I thank you for your continued
support of youth in our community and at St. Paul Lutheran School.
In Christ’s Service,
Lori Flenner

About St. Paul Lutheran School
Mission
The mission of St.
Paul Lutheran School
is to “provide a Christcentered environment
where students are
prepared spiritually
and scholastically for
their future.”
“Train a child in the
way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from
it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
The educational philosophy of St. Paul Lutheran School is
an integrated set of beliefs used to interpret, determine,
and evaluate educational objectives, practices, outcomes,
needs, and study materials.
The purpose of St. Paul Lutheran School is to provide a
setting wherein children receive daily instruction in the
Word of God and instruction in all other subjects in the
light of God's Word.
If you are interested in providing a Christ-centered
education for your child please contact the school office at

Craig Thomas Scholarship Fund / Tuition
Assistance Funds
During the Live Auction this evening, our auctioneer will be
asking for donations to the Craig Thomas Scholarship and
Tuition Assistance Funds. These funds provide tuition
assistance to non-member and member families who wish to
send their children to St. Paul Lutheran School to receive a
quality Christ-centered education. Recipients are chosen by a
committee consisting of members from St. Paul Lutheran
Church Board of Outreach, Board of Education, our Pastor and
volunteers.
For more information or an application for scholarship funds,
please contact the school office at 756-5147
Private Donation Cards
At the Bar
Private Donation Cards can be used to make a monetary
donation of any amount to St. Paul Lutheran School. The
Auction Committee felt that it was important to offer this option
for those that wish to make a donation in a less conspicuous
manner.
Simply fill out the card with your name, address*, bid # and the
amount that you wish to donate. Then drop the card into the
provided box at the Bar by Last Call. The amount you’ve
indicated will be added to your invoice at the end of the evening
and can be paid during checkout along with any other items
that you may have won.
You may also choose to have your Private Donation directed to
the St. Paul Outreach Scholarship Fund / Tuition Assistance
Program.
*Name and address are necessary for sending you a receipt for
your tax-deductible donation. They will not be shared.

Last year, Pantheon generously donated not one, but TWO of
these amazing signature drums to the St. Paul Auction. This
year, they are donating the proceeds from an online auction of
one of their drums! Now, EVERYONE in the world can bid on
this stunning work of art and sound!
The Halo Sound Sculpture will be available on ebay TONIGHT
and the ebay auction will close LIVE during our St. Paul
Auction. Interested bidders should be ready with the ebay app
on their phone if attending the auction and we’ll watch the
countdown and final flurry of bids live!
To bid on the drum scan the QR code below with any QR
reader.
From the Pantheon Steel website:
The Halo is Pantheon Steel’s contribution to a new twenty-first
century family of instruments and sound sculpture, descended from
the steel pan, which we call the handpan.
Handpans are resonant steel instruments played by hand in the lap,
designed to engage the body and mind of the player in a new way,
marrying rhythm, melody, and harmony in a single flow. Rich in
timbre and very expressive, and often with no “wrong” notes to play,
handpans are made for free improvisation and meditative exploration.
There as many styles of play as there are players.

Silent Auction
Silent Auction Rules
The Silent Auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the classrooms listed on the
following page. Items that were donated after April 17, 2015 may not appear
in this book, but are on display in the rooms. All items in the Silent Auction
have a bid sheet attached to the table in front of them. Persons wishing to
bid must do so by writing in ALL information on the bid sheet.
All items may be bid on until the Silent Auction closes. The closing times are
listed on the following page with the room descriptions. The closing
announcement will be made on the PA system. No bids may be entered after
the announcement has been made. Official Room Monitors will close each
room.
Each new bid must increase the amount of the previous bid by at least $1.00
or the bid is void. No bid may be cancelled once it is entered.
When the Silent Auction is closed, a listing of your winning Silent Auction bids
will be delivered to you at your table in the form of a preliminary sales invoice.
A final sales invoice will be provided to you at the cashier’s table. Once
payment has been made, your bid number can no longer be used.
The cashier’s table will not open for checkout until the conclusion of the Live
Auction.
Payment in full may be made tonight, or Sunday, May 3, 2015 between 10:00
a.m. and 1:00 p.m. by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or
Discover.
After your sales invoice is marked PAID, present it to the attendant in the
pick-up area to collect your items. No item may be removed before the
auction has ended.
All items not taken this evening must be removed Sunday, May 3, 2015
between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Buyers must make their own
arrangements to pick up and transport items.
All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds.

Secret Bid Box Rooms and Rules
We will have Secret Bid Boxes in many of the Silent Auction
rooms. If you don’t feel like checking in on those “must-have”
items that you are keeping your eye on in those rooms, you can
simply fill out a Secret Bid sheet with the amount that you
would like to spend & move on. This will also enable our hard
working volunteers a chance to bid on an item while they are
busy working.
Secret Bid Box Rules:
Fill out the blank bid sheet provided next to the Secret Bid Box
in the classroom.
Be sure to include your:
a) Name
b) Bid #
c) Item #
d) Your Bid Amount
Place the sheet in the box. If your bid amount on the secret bid
sheet is higher than the price on the sheet on the table, you win
the item.
If there happens to be a tie, we will locate both bidders in the
gym and give you a new blank bid sheet to fill out. You then
have the option to write the same price or raise your bid. You
must be present to bid in case of a tie.
Buy It Now! Items
Each year, we receive various donations of multiple identical
items. These items are scattered throughout the silent auction
and marked as “Buy It Now!” items. The Auction Committee
has set the price of each item at a significant discount from the
retail value and you can “Buy It Now!” at that price. No
bidding necessary. Simply be one of the first to enter your bid
number on the bid sheet in front of the item and you’re a
winner! Quantities of each item are limited and noted on the
bid sheet for each “Buy It Now!” item.
10
Silent Auction Rooms
Each year the Silent Auction Rooms, are themed and filled to
the brim with donations! What will you Celebrate?

Live Auction
Live Auction Rules
The Live Auction will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the gymnasium following
the dinner and will continue until all items have been sold. Placement
of items in the Live or Silent auctions was made at the discretion of
the auctioneer and Auction Committee. Live items must be limited
due to time constraints for the evening’s events and the comfort of our
attendees.
Please show your bid number located on the bid card inside your
auction booklet when bidding. Let the spotters see that you wish to
make a bid.
All sales are final as per the auctioneer’s discretion.
A sales invoice for all Silent and Live Auction items will be given to
you at the cashier’s table. Payment in full may be made tonight, or
Sunday, May 3, 2015 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. by cash,
check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.
The cashier’s table will not be open for checkout until the conclusion
of the Live Auction. Once payment has been made, your bid number
can no longer be used.
When items are purchased jointly by multiple bidders, the item will be
charged to only one bid number.
After sales invoice is marked PAID, present it to the attendant in the
pick-up area to collect your items. No item may be removed before
the auction has ended. Please be sure to pick up a certificate for any
item or service not physically present or displayed.
All items not taken this evening must be removed Sunday, May 3,
2015 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Buyers must make their own
arrangements to pick up and transport items.
All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds.
64
Class Displays
The items filling the Class Displays are donated by the students
and their families. This is intended to allow the students to
become even more involved in the major fundraiser for their
school. The Class Displays will be auctioned in the order listed
with the Live Auction items. Take a look at these great displays
before the auction begins. A complete list of the display
contents will be on your table for your convenience.
The Displays are in keeping with our “20th Anniversary” theme
and each celebrates a previous auction held during the last 20
years. .

Two 23x16 Framed Paintings on a Birch Panel
These two medium sized abstract paintings come to life using
subtle color contrasts that highlight the relationship between
pattern and organic shape. The mystery behind each
painting's composition evaporates after repeated views.

graphite, paint, and elements of collage as well as the wood

consecutive year.

Beautiful, Hand Crafted, One-of-a-Kind Petite Hardwood
Sideboard / Buffet
The design of this piece pulls from the "danish modern" motif,
which hints to both a modern and retro aesthetic. This piece
was scaled down from the usual size in order to use a non
traditional wood to highlight (persimmon). The oak and
walnut were harvested from Chesterfield, Missouri in 2007.
The sideboard is made of persimmon with air dried red oak
(carcass), air dried black walnut (leg assembly), air dried
mesquite pull (doors). The shelf is made from composite
sunflower board. The oil and beeswax finish should let the
solid wood grain a petina within a few months.

Supporters
These are the wonderful people and businesses that
contribute to the Auction Committee through their time,
talents and treasures. They often go without reward or
recognition and most people don’t even know that without
their support, the auction would not be the success that it
is. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to each of them.
