Desk “ the “FromPresident’s I am privileged to present the Fourth Annual Report of the ICFAI University, Jaipur (IUJ). This report covers the activities for the period 01 April 2014 – 31 March 2015. This is in Compliance with Section 39 of the ICFAI University, Jaipur Act, 2011 (Act No. 26 of 2011). The enclosed report presents details of various activities of the University including co-curricular activities like sports and cultural events. During the fourth year of existence of the University, our effort has been towards strengthening the activities of various bodies and officials as per the requirements of the Act and to establish adequate infrastructure and facilities for smooth operation of the University. Today, this University is spread over an eco-friendly campus of 40 acres with total constructed built up area of over 2,00,000 sq. ft. (in addition to the large basement) in the foot hills of Aravalis with spick & span class rooms, laboratories, workshops, cafeteria, student welfare facilities, sports ground, etc. The campus of IUJ is Wi-Fi enabled. The library, with reading room capacity of over 100 students, possesses about 14,000 books and 91 journals. The appointment of well qualified faculty, trained at the best institutions, has been a significant step towards high quality resource generations. For good and effective academic governance of the University, in addition to the Board of Management, the Academic Council has also been constituted as per the approved Statutes of the University. The Fourth academic session started in June, 2014 conducted three degree programs, namely MBA, BBA, and B.Tech. The First Semester was successfully completed in December, 2014 and the Second Semester started in January, 2015. The policy of “No Ragging, No Smoking, No Mobile” inside IUJ campus has been effectively implemented. All activities of IUJ progressed very well, as per the planned schedule. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Rajasthan Shri. Kalyan Singh Ji, the Chairperson of the University, Dr. S.A. Dave, and the Members of the Board of Management for their guidance and continuous support. Introduction The ICFAI University, Jaipur was established under the provisions of the ICFAI University, Jaipur Act 2011. (Act No. 26 of 2011). The University is sponsored by The ICFAI Society - a not-for-profit educational society established in 1984. The University emphasizes on providing high quality and industry relevant education in the areas of Management, Law, Science & Technology and Commerce. The ICFAI University, Jaipur is a Member of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The University believes in creating and disseminating knowledge through innovative educational programs, research, consulting and publishing. The University seeks to establish a cadre of professionals with high level of competence and deep sense of ethics and commitment to the code of professional conduct. 2. Vision and Mission Merit with Ethics Vision: The ICFAI University Jaipur will emerge as a premier center of excellence for career oriented education known for contributing leaders in a vital sector of the state’s economy. Mission: The mission of the University is to offer world class, innovative, career-oriented professional Postgraduate and Undergraduate programs through inclusive technology-aided pedagogies to equip students with the requisite professional and life skills as well as social sensitivity and high sense of ethics. The University will strive to create an intellectually stimulating environment for research, particularly into areas bearing on the socio-economic and cultural development on the state and the nation. 3. Governance The ICFAI University, Jaipur is a professionally managed University. All the statutory bodies are conducted in accordance with the Act, Statutes and Rules of the University. Meetings are regularly held to review the operations of the University. Issues pertaining to institutional development, long-term strategies, programs to be developed, human resources, staff recruitment, training & development and financial matters are discussed at these meetings. Accreditations University Grants Commission (UGC) The University is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. 5. Infrastructure The University is endowed with excellent facilities required for creating a congenial academic atmosphere. State-of-the-art infrastructure is available at the University to meet the requirements of the Programs conducted. A. All Computers in the Labs are well connected with internet. The Computers in the lab are backed up with UPS Power. Faculty Members are also provided with Computer facilities with internet connection. Students have access to the finest collection of contemporary books and journals which supplement the prescribed reference books and text books, providing students an opportunity to gain significant appreciation of Engineering, Management, Law and IT Subjects, going well beyond the classroom-based programs. The University encourages students to participate in various extra and co-curricular activities. G.Virtual Reality Tour The University has developed a 360° Virtual Reality walk-through. All the prospective students and other stakeholders can now browse the virtual tour of the campus infrastructure and other facilities on www.iujaipur.edu.in H. It was attended by more than one lakh people who came from all over the country. Also, this program attracted youth from all over the world. • Responding to the call of Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was held on 20 th November, 2014 by Team IcfaiTech involving students, Faculty Members and Staff Members. An enthusiastic team of 200 members got involved in Operation Clean for about 4 hours unceasingly around the campus area and gave the roads of Jamdoli a posh look. Other Student Activities: 1. Fresher’s Meet, “Yuvam-2014” : The senior batch welcomed their juniors to ICFAI Business School (IBS) on 18th July 2014 through a vibrant cultural program. 2. Alumni Meet, “Samagam-2014” : The Alumni Meet of IBS, Samagam-2014 was organized on 20th December 2014. 3. Industrial Visit to Akshaya Patra-Jaipur : A team of 35 students from MBA and BBA with two faculty members visited the Akshaya Patra Foundation on 13th August 2014. This visit helped the students to understand the operational processes involved at Akshay Patra and also the role of ethical and social responsibility. 6. Sports Week, “IBS Spardha-2014” : “IBS Spardha 2014” with event partner NAQ Global was organized from November 4th to 7th, 2014 at ICFAI Business School (IBS) Jaipur. 7. Industrial Visit at Parle-G, Neemrana : A team of 38 students from MBA and BBA under the supervision of two faculty members visited Parle-G Factory Neemrana. Students learned about various aspects of operations, supply chain, logistics and distribution. The students also got opportunity to learn practically the 5S, the Japanese practice in operations and production. 8. Oasis, 2014 : A team of 5 members participated in Oasis, 2014 at BITS, Pilani 9. V-Skills Certification as Certified Human Resource Manager : Two students from HR specialization, Ms. Aiswarya Gopakumar and Mr. Dara Samuel Wesly qualified as “Certified Human Resource Professional” through V-Skills, a joint establishment of Government of India and Government of Delhi. 5. Bloomberg Online Aptitude Test : An online aptitude test by Bloomberg was organized to test the aptitude and knowledge of MBA students. It covered different sections namely international news, global economics, statistics, finance and logical reasoning. 6. Live Projects at NEI Ltd., Hotel Om Towers and Passion 4 Communication : Students of Human Resource stream from MBA: Ms. Sonali Sharma, Ms. Dara Samuel Wesly and Ms. Aishwarya Gopakumar pursued 15 days paid live projects with NEI Ltd., Hotel Om Towers and Passion 4 Communication respectively.
