guest program - saturday Guest Program We’ve planned a dynamic schedule of tours for the Guest Program. If you haven’t already signed up for a tour, please visit the Guest Tour Reservation Booth in the SLC registration area. Note that reservations are on a first-come, first serve basis and space is limited. All guest tours will depart from the area outside the main entrance to the Hyatt Regency on High Street, with the exception of the Beverage of the Bluegrass event, which is onsite. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. Historic Downtown Tour www.visitlex.com Saturday Noon - 4:30 pm We have a leisurely afternoon planned upon your W aarrival in Lexington. Close to the hotels are the iimportant historical and architecturally significant h homes of Mary Todd Lincoln and statesman Henry Clay aand the historic Christ Church Cathedral in the Gratz P Park area. This tour includes leisurely walking and m motor coach. A Lesson On The Signature Beverage Of The Bluegrass Hyatt Regency, Kentucky Room www.peggynoestevens.com Saturday 1 - 3:15 pm No introduction to Kentucky would be complete without a basic sic n lesson on bourbon. As the world’s first female master bourbon taster and founder of the Bourbon Women Association, Peggyy out Noe Stevens is uniquely qualified to educate our audience about Kentucky’s native spirit. Whether you are new to bourbon, or a seasoned enthusiast, she will present an entertaining overview of bourbon’s heritage and process and give you tips on how to taste like a pro. A customized food and bourbon pairing will delight your senses and teach you how the many different “styles” of our amber elixir make bourbon a signature industry for Kentucky. Make no mistake - this is a hands on lesson! 14 Keeneland Race Course Sunday 6:30 - 9:30 am Start your day bright and early for a one-ofa-kind experience. Join us at Keeneland to watch elite racehorses work out in the mists of a Kentucky morning. You’ll then be treated to a satisfying breakfast at the Track Kitchen to eat alongside jockeys and trainers. You’ll be glad you got up early! Thoroughbred Day Sunday 10:30 am - 4:30 pm Join us for lunch at Holly Hill Inn where us renowned chef Ouita Michel prepares delicious fare from local ingredients. We’ll also take a scenic drive to Woodford County to tour some of the most picturesque and successful thoroughbred farms around: Darley at Jonabell Farm and Taylor Made. 15 guest program - sunday Breakfast With The Workouts guest program - sunday Fresh Air & Sport Shooting Blue Grass Sportsmen’s League www.bgslinc.com Sunday 8 am - 2:30 pm Whether you are experienced or a first-timer, you’ll enjoy a day of sport clay shooting at Kentucky’s largest sporting league. We’ll arrive at the Blue Grass Sportsmen’s League for a round of 80 targets. Don’t worry, we’ll all go through gun safety protocols. The house instructor will be on hand to help you with technique so you can hit as many clays as possible. You’ll enjoy lunch of scrumptious Kentucky fare in the Clubhouse. The League is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation and the environment, hunter education, wildlife and habitat restoration, and youth education in sportsmanship. Get A Move On: Outdoors In The Bluegrass Raven Run and Talon Winery Sunday S 9 am - 2 pm A After your long travel day, take a refreshing walk o on a fine Bluegrass morning at Raven Run Nature SSanctuary. This 734-acre nature sanctuary is dedicated tto preserving the natural beauty of the Kentucky River Palisades and is home to more than 600 species of plants and 200 species of birds. The trails are narrow and uneven. They are not accessible for wheelchairs or safe for other assistive devices. After working up an appetite, we’ll be welcomed for a shaded picnic lunch at Talon Winery, which sits on 300 acres of rolling farmland. 16 www.theoutletshoppesofthebluegrass.com Monday 9:30 am – 3:30 pm Spend a relaxing day shopping at Kentucky’s only outlet mall. Or spend the day racing from shop to shop for deals of a lifetime. It’s up to you! Lunch on your own at one of the many restaurants in the mall or within walking distance. Shaker Village Of Pleasant Hill ll Tour and Boat Excursion www.shakervillageky.org Monday 9 am – 4 pm Guests will be transported back in time to explore one of the Commonwealth’s most distinctive religious communities: Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Shaker Village is a landmark destination that shares 3,000 acres of discovery in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. With 34 original Shaker structures, the site is home to the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings and is the largest National Historic Landmark in Kentucky. We’ll explore the bucolic grounds and farm, enjoy a seed-to-table lunch at the Trustees’ Table, and take in the beautiful scenery along the Kentucky River Palisades on the Dixie Belle paddle wheeler. You’ll also understand how they have come to be known as “Shakers” when you enjoy a private performance by the Shaker Singers. Note: The Youth Program also will be visiting Shaker Village on Monday separately. 17 guest program - monday The Outlet Shoppes Of The Bluegrass guest program - tuesday Behind The Scenes: Kentucky’s Distillery Industry Tuesday 8:15 am – 4 pm Bourbon is one of Kentucky’s signature industries and provides an n important economic benefit. We’ll visit unique distilleries and get a special behind-the-scenes look at the process. Will you be able to taste any difference between the bourbons? We’ll visit Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, and Wild Turkey distilleries and savor lunch while at Woodford Reserve. The Capital City’s Finest Frankfort Tuesday 8:30 am - 3:45 pm Tour Kentucky’s capital city by exploring downtown with stops at the Kentucky History Center and the Old State Capitol. We’ll then head up the hill to tour the State Capitol and lunch with Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton at the Governor’s Mansion. After lunch, we’ll travel across town to Buffalo Trace Distillery, the oldest continuously operating distillery in the United States. As you walk the grounds, you’ll appreciate its history and architecture. 18 guest program - tuesday Green Thumbs Up: Jon Carloftis www.joncarloftis.com Tuesday 8:30 am - 4 pm We’ll visit with world-famous garden designer Jon Carloftis. He’ll take us on a private tour of some of his creations that are not open to the public. Along the way, Jon will share his vision and offer tips on creating your own designs. We’ll have lunch at Dudley’s on Short where we also will be able to view Jon’s landscape architecture.
