Witches Craig
The AA Campsite of the Year 2015 Winner for Scotland is situated at the foot of the
Ochil Hills under the watchful gaze of the nearby National Wallace Monument.
Visit Scotland have graded Witches
Craig “an exceptional 5 star” touring
park. Our park has won many other
awards in recent years, including
“Loo of the Year” and a David Bellamy
“Gold” Conservation award. More
pleasing than any award is the huge
number of repeat customers and
great reviews we receive in person
and on review websites. We are
particularly proud of the many hand
drawn pictures of witches and toy
witches that line the walls of our reception, gifted by families to mark a great stay.
For almost forty years our family run, family friendly site has been a gateway to the
Highlands and a base for exploring historic Stirling. Nearby you’ll also discover the
scenic Trossachs, the rolling hills of Perthshire, the tranquil beaches of the Kingdom of
Fife and much more.
More than that, Witches Craig is in itself a destination – a peaceful, relaxing part of
Central Scotland where every pitch has stunning views of the Ochil Hills and across to
the historic city of Stirling. If you’re feeling active, you can access the Ochil Hills direct
from the park, wander along an ancient roadway to the village of Blairlogie, or walk in
the footsteps of William Wallace to the nearby Abbey Craig. For a more relaxing stroll
you can see lots of wildlife around the Stirling University campus loch. The Battle of
Bannockburn Visitor Centre is a ten minute drive from the park, while the Forth and
Clyde Canal, with the iconic “Kelpies” at the Helix Park and “Falkirk Wheel” are just
twenty minutes by car.
We’ve award winning toilets and showers, a well-loved and well-used children’s
playpark, a laundry, undercover cooking shelters and dish washing facilities. Free Wi-Fi
is available across the park. You can order newspapers, rolls and milk for delivery to
the park each day or drive to a major supermarket within 5 minutes. A short walk will
take you to the Blairmains Farm Shop and Coffee Bothy. Regular bus services stop
outside the park and Stirling Railway Station is just over 3 miles. There are worldclass sporting and fitness facilities at the neighbouring University of Stirling, while the
nearby “Peak” sports village has a swimming pool, ice rink and climbing wall.
Whether you are looking for a base to explore the heart of Central Scotland, or a place
with breathtaking local scenery for a relaxing weekend, Witches Craig Caravan and
Camping Park has something for everybody.

Reviews
“A beautiful location full of character and
charm and we have never been so warmly
welcomed anywhere! We wished we had stayed
for our whole holiday - which is exactly what
we will do next time!”
“A family friendly atmosphere, yours is not a
‘churn ‘em in, churn ‘em out’ mentality but
a genuine ‘happy to have you here’ approach
which we really appreciated.”
“It is by far the nicest campsite we visited in
the UK during our 3 week holiday. We felt more
than welcome.”
“Just spent the weekend on your site and loved
it! Thought we would let you know how much
we appreciate the site and all the hours of hard
toil you must put into keeping it so great.”
“This was our first time camping at your site
and the friendliness and helpfulness of your
staff made it a great experience. Thank you and
we will be back!”
“A beautifully located site with generous
spacious pitches, great scenery and overall
a peaceful location in which to relax.”
“All the facilities are second-to-none, and the
play area for children is the best we’ve come
across!”
“Despite being family-friendly with children
enjoying riding bikes and playing in total
safety, it is all so well-run that couples should
not be put off, because there is no disturbance
or unruly behaviour. It is a perfect balance!”

The Witches Craig
In the seventeenth century Scotland was gripped
by a fear of witches. The ruins of the nearby Logie
Kirk (Church) date back to 1178 and today are
an eerie place filled with mystery. It is said that
a coven of witches was based in the hills behind
the kirk, the most prominent of which is Carly
Crag, or the Witches Craig. An eighteenth century
minister at Logie is said to have spotted the Devil
dancing there with his witches; the Devil was
given away by the cloven hooves he was unable to
hide. The presence of witches all along the Ochils
is remembered today with place names such as
Warlock Glen and Devil’s Loch. The most likely
place to spot witches today is in the caravan and
camping park reception where you can buy toy
witches as a souvenir of your stay!
Local Attractions
Stirling is a regional shopping centre with a large shopping mall, bustling city centre
and nearby retail parks. Most major supermarkets can be found in the city. There
is also a ten pin bowling alley, cinema multiplex, MacRobert Theatre and Tolbooth
Theatre. Golfers are spoilt for choice, with seven golf courses within five miles of the
park. If you like fishing, there are many options on the nearby rivers and lochs. There
are many great restaurants and cafes within a short drive and there are takeaways
that will deliver to the park.
History is at the heart of this part of Scotland, with two key battles fought in the area.
In 1297, William Wallace defeated the English at the battle of Stirling Bridge and in
1314 Robert the Bruce repeated the victory to become King of Scotland; today you
can visit the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre, updated in the 700th anniversary
year with a cutting edge 3D battle recreation, and the National Wallace Monument
which was completed in 1869. Many of the Stewart Kings and Queens stayed in
Stirling Castle and James VI (later James I of England) was crowned in the Church
of the Holy Rude. The Belltower is all that survives of the nearby Cambuskenneth
Abbey, which was founded over one thousand years ago. The spa town of Bridge
of Allan, with boutique shops and microbreweries offers a change of pace from the
city, as does the cathedral city of Dunblane. Along the “hillfoots” of the Ochils you’ll
find Castle Campbell, Alloa Tower, Alva Glen and Dollar Glen. Both Edinburgh and
Glasgow are less than an hour away from Witches Craig, as is Perth, St Andrews,
Falkirk and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Blair Drummond Safari
Park is just nine miles away.
