WELCOME
Welcome to Nellys’ Project – the first fundraiser for Soul Sisters Memorial Foundation. Our non
profit society was formed in February 2014; a few short months after the death of our daughter
Jeanelle Lobsinger. My sisters and I felt the need to organize a way to bring awareness to suicide
and mental health issues within the community. Our mission is to get people talking about mental
health and to erase the stigma attached; thus reducing the suicide rate. This has been an uphill
battle for myself and my family; however planning this event has assisted us on our path of healing.
Together and with the right information; we hope to save lives.
THANK YOU
It all started with an idea and look where we are in less than 7 months!
Tonight would not be possible without the generosity of everyone in this hall; and for that we thank
you from the bottom of our hearts. Whether you were a volunteer, donated an auction item, bought
50/50 tickets, purchased a cookbook, provided the entertainment, made a cash contribution; each
and every one of you has helped our first fundraiser be an absolute success. I am very pleased to
donate proceeds from tonight to Victim Services Westlock and Pilgrims Hospice Edmonton.
We will continue to fundraise and create awareness for suicide and mental health issues.
We look forward to our next event – stay tuned!
God bless the community we live in and the generous people in our lives.

“I like to say that I’ve had many
bonuses to my dreams… Things,
people, events and accolades, in
addition to and off the beaten
path from my original goals,”
notes Johnson. “I’ve certainly
gone further than I actually
imagined, but that doesn’t make
me stop in my tracks. I just want
to keep doing this for the rest
of my life. Music truly is what
makes my world go round.”
The life and career of hit
singer-songwriter Carolyn
Dawn Johnson has been a
steady climb to the top, as she
remains a staple in the country
music industry nearly 20 years
after setting out to pursue her
dreams in Nashville.

JOHNSON
Nelly's Project.indd 2
Just four short years after
making the 60-hour drive from
Vancouver, BC Canada to Music
City U.S.A., Johnson scored
her first chart-topping hit as a
songwriter when Chely Wright
took “Single White Female” all
the way to No. 1.
The success then led to
publishing deals and cuts with
several other artists like Patty
Loveless, Mindy McCready,
Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis,
SheDaisy Lila McCann, Suzy
Bogguss, Linda Davis, Jo Dee
Messina & more. Johnson
was named Breakthrough
Songwriter of the Year in
2000 by Music Row, and has
continued to carry that title
well as one of the town’s most
loved and respected tunesmiths
around.
After inking a record deal with
Sony’s Arista Nashville in 2000,
Johnson produced music of
her own with the release of her
debut album titled Room With
a View. The critically acclaimed
project spawned the Top 5
smash “Complicated,” as well
as other hit singles such as
“Georgia” and “I Don’t Want
You to Go.” During that time,
Johnson criss-crossed the
country on many high-profile
tours as the opening act for the
likes of Reba McEntire, Alan
Jackson, Kenny Chesney and
Keith Urban. Her albums to
follow included Dress Rehearsal
in 2004, and her independently
released Love & Negotiation in
2006 and Love Rules in 2010.

Who We Are
Dealing With Trauma
Westlock Victim Services is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization
that provides 24 hour crisis
response and support through the
Westlock RCMP for people who
have been effected by crime and
tragedy. Our mission, carried out
by professionally trained volunteers
and staff, is to provide emotional
support, poetical assistance and
community referrals. Our Vision is
to help victims and their families
cope with the impact of crisis
event by bridging the gap from hurt
to hope.
We can never fully anticipate the
trauma one might feel after being
victimized. No matter what type of
crime or traumatic event you have
been the victim of, it is possible
that you will suffer emotional
stress. Trauma is not a sign of
weakness; it knows no gender
or racial boundaries. Confidential
support is available for you without
charge. We want you to know you
are not alone. It is alright to feel
the way you do. Many people who
are also victims of crime or trauma
share the same feelings.
Referrals
Support
At the time of the incident, we
provide a listening ear, comfort
and reassurance at the victims
home, in the hospital or by phone.
In cases where a court appearance
is necessary, we contact the
witness/victim to offer information
on court procedure.
Our services connect victims with
formal and informal community
support. We provide a referral
service that connects victims with
other community agencies and
organizations including:
• Counselling Agencies
• Distress Centre & Crisis Lines
• Shelters
• Medical Examiners office
• Social Services
• Community Links
• Other Victim Assistance Units

Mission
Pilgrims Hospice Society provides supportive and compassionate family
centered care to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with
a progressive, life-threatening illness as well as solace to those who are bereaved.
Our programs and services can help you and your family to adjust and cope
with concerns experienced during an End of Life Journey. We care for people’s
psychological, social and spiritual well-being, as well as aiding in the
management of physical symptoms until natural death occurs. We help
caregivers by providing respite and we support mourners in their Grief.
Community based Hospice Programs include:
Adult Respite Day Program
Compassionate Companions Home visiting Program
Adult Counseling and Spiritual Care Supports
Expressive Arts for Grieving Teens and Children/ Colored Tears Summer Day
Camp
Nelly’s Project is generously supporting Pilgrims Hospice Children and Teen Grief
Supports programs, a much valued service to our Community. We know that
bereaved children and teens that have experienced the death of a loved one are
more at risk for psychological and behavioral difficulties than those that have
not experienced such a loss. Helping a bereaved child or teen is the epitome
of good preventive mental, physical and spiritual health care. Involvement in
Expressive Arts programming provides children and teens and their families
with the necessary social sanction and permission to express their feelings. They
find comfort and relief in knowing that others feel the way they do and that they
are not alone.
For more information on our Programs and how to access services visit our web

Thank You to the Soul Sisters Memorial Foundation and Nelly’s Project.

Every year, almost one million people die from suicide;
this roughly corresponds to one death every 40 seconds.
