Journey to Phuket (Thailand)

Day 02: Wednesday October 29th, 2008
As per their scheduled programme they went to James Bond
Island. Weather was pleasant, wind was blowing but sky was
cloudy. The roads of the city were wide and straight with an
elaborate system of drainage. The scenery was most enchanting.
Big and tall trees have been planted on both sides of the roads.
Many varieties of lovely flowers and ferns provided another
source of delight to the eye. The houses were built in a regular way.
Before heading to Phang-Nga, they stopped at the popular
Monkey Caves (Wat Suwankuha) to see the large reclining golden
Buddha lying inside a huge cave. The cave was amazing where
monkeys were free to roam on the limestone mountain. With such
natural marvels, it is no wonder that Phang Nga has become one of
the world's most popular tourist destinations. The participants
took group photographs there.
Later on they continued to ride till a small pier at Phang-Nga
where they traveled by long tail boat with a huge engine, which
was very noisy when sailing. They visited the famous James Bond
Island known originally and locally as Ko Tapu or Nail Island,
where the movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun' was filmed, and a
small cave in one of the mountains. They stayed there for some
time and took some snaps of the island. Soon they were all back
aboard the boats and headed towards Fisherman Village. They had
a nice lunch at the village. On the same night the dinner was
arranged at Kan Eng Restaurant where Sea Food was served.
Day 03: Thursday October 30th, 2008
On the morning of 30th October, 2008 they went to White Water
Rafting and Elephant Trekking at Phang Nga Province. They
showered and took their breakfast, all the interested members
gathered in the hotel lounge. Soon they were all aboard the buses
and heading to Phang Nga Province. It is located on a highland
landscape between Kratha Kwum Hills and Khao Hra Mountain.
Everyone was in a mood to enjoy.
Whitewater rafting is especially good during the months from
June to November because of the higher frequency of rain. Upon
reaching the riverbank, the leader gave them a detailed safety
briefing. Then life jackets and safety helmets were also issued
before the rafting. The river is controlled by a dam up stream and
water is released twice a day. The raft starts from the north and
flows down the river stream. It was purely fun shooting the rapids
with a glimpse of village life. The day's rafting was filmed and
photographed by a crew of photographers and the video and stills
were shown at the base camp after lunch. Some people went for
