Synopsis
Frank is an ambitious and single-minded medical student who has no friends. His finals are only
few days away and nothing must distract him. Nothing, and specially not Lotte, the girl who
has just moved into the flat above. Lotte tries to make friends with Frank. But he sees her only as an irritation, especially as the noise
from the couple’s lovemaking keeps him awake at night. Finally sleeplessness makes him lose
control…
One day Frank is mysteriously attacked in the corridor of his building. Lotte helps him and the
circumstances bring them closer. Their new friendship will not be without consequences. The
boyfriend suspects they are having an affair. He makes a threatening phone call to Frank and
brutally assaults Lotte, who runs down to Frank’s flat for help. But Frank, paralyzed with fear,
refuses to open his door. After this incident, there are no more sounds from the flat above. Frank is sure something terrible
has happened to Lotte. And when the boyfriend starts persecuting Frank, he finds himself caught
in a cat and mouse game in which his life is at stake.

Directors´ Statement
Corridor is a psychological thriller about a medical student Frank. Frank is a successful student
with top results. He does not mix with the other students and is regarded as an outsider.
We think Frank is very different from the leading male roles we are used to seeing. He is asexual,
cowardly and definitely not macho. The challenge for us is to make the audience feel sympathy
for such an odd character, to follow and understand his actions.
We were both brought up by parents who are medics and have had some insight into that world.

drawn into the mystery of Lotte. He is completely alone.
The form we have chosen is stylised realism, where the camera moves between light and dark.
Together with Frank the camera investigates his surroundings, creeps along walls and faces and
strengthens the sense of identification with Frank. We have been very inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s ability to create suspense, Tom Tywker’s details and visual explorations and by Roman
Polanski’s fascination for isolated worlds.

for such an odd character, to follow and understand his actions.
We were both brought up by parents who are medics and have had some insight into that world.
It attracts many dedicated and nice people, but there are those whose driving force is different.
For them the patient is less interesting than the illness and they are often more interested in social status and financial rewards. Such people inspired us for the Frank character.
We ask ourselves what individual qualities are rewarded in today’s society, where what you are
is more important than who you are. Humanism and empathy give way to efficiency and drive.
Qualities not just rewarded in business but also in areas providing care and protection.
