Compliments to the Chef Recipe Card Easel
Compliments to the Chef Recipe Card Easel Designed By: Sharon Field March 2011 This cute little recipe card easel would make a great hostess gift or welcome to the neighborhood gift! Add some stamped recipe cards with your own special recipes too! Instructions Step 1 – Cutting On Board Long Board, Designer Series Paper, and Medium Window Sheet • Mark and cut On Board Long Board to the following sizes: 5” x 5-3/4”, 2-3/8” x 5-3/4”, 3-3/8” x 5-3/5”, 2” x 5-3/4”, and 1” x 5-3/4”. This can be done with a hobby blade and steel ruler or by using the Table Top Paper Cutter. Be sure to hold the Long Board (Chipboard) firmly in place when cutting to ensure straight cuts. If you end up with rough cuts, simply use a sanding block to smooth the edges of the Chipboard. • Cut Love Letters Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the following sizes: 3” x 5-3/4”, 10” x 5-3/4”, and 12” x 5-3/4”. • Cut Medium Window Sheet to the following sizes: 4” x 5-3/4” and 2” x 5-3/4” (last piece optional). www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 1 Step 2 Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the two smallest pieces of Chipboard aligned at one of the long edges. If you have a rough edge on your Chipboard, make it face inward versus facing the outer edge (see photo on right in this step). The narrow, long end of the Easel Stop will be used in future steps to space chipboard. The stop will be incorporated into the project in Step 16. Step 2 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 3 Line up the Chipboard pieces on your DSP, with the 5” x 5-3/4” piece along the bottom edge, the 2-3/8” x 5-3/4” piece in the middle and the 3-3/8” x 5-3/4” piece near the top edge. You will use the narrower edge of the Easel Stop to approximate the gap needed between each Chipboard piece. Glue Chipboard to 12” piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Use plenty of glue, but not so much that it oozes out the sides. Note: Work with one piece of Chipboard at a time! Step 3 Step 4 As you glue the next piece of Chipboard in place, use the Easel Stop to position, or leave a “fat” 1/8” gap between pieces. Chipboard pieces do not reach the end of the DSP… this is intentional. Step 4 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 5 There should be fat 1/8” gaps between each Chipboard section. Step 5 Step 6 Use a Bone Folder to crease along the edges of DSP and chipboard. Place Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the edge of Chipboard, and on the flap of DSP. Small amounts of Multipurpose Liquid Glue go a very long way! Step 6 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 7 Gently smooth and crease the DSP into place using a Bone Folder. Step 7 Step 8 Turn over Chipboard / DSP Easel. Align 10” piece of DSP with the top (DSP covered edge) of the easel. An area at the bottom of the easel will NOT be covered with DSP… this is ok! Step 8 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 9 Working with ONE section at a time, add Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the first section of Chipboard, and place DSP on top of it. Smooth the section you just glued in place with your Bone Folder. Step 9 Step 10 Use the Bone Folder, and gently form a crease between ALL Chipboard sections. This step will allow your Easel to bend easily. Step 10 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 11 Work with the next section of Chipboard and DSP, gluing and smoothing with the Bone Folder. Smooth with Bone Folder, and then repeat last step for last section of Chipboard. Step 11 Step 12 Check to see that all edges are completely glued in place and if not, this is a good time to re-secure them with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. A toothpick or small scrap of card stock may be used to insert the glue into tiny spaces. Step 12 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 13 Score a 4” x 5-3/4” piece of Medium Window Sheet at 3-1/2” and 3-5/8” forming a 1/8” channel which will fit over the top of the Easel. Step 13 Step 14 Place a strip of Sticky Strip along the top (back) edge of the Easel, approximately 1/8” below the fold. Step 14 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 15 Remove red liner from Sticky Strip, flatten out Easel and attach the scored Window Sheet. The short scored flap should completely cover the Sticky Strip. Step 15 Step 16 This is a photo of what the front of the Easel should look like at this point. Step 16 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 17 Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach Designer Series Paper to the flat side of the Easel Stop created in Step 2. Step 17 Step 18 Flip the smooth side of the Easel Stop onto the DSP, approximately in the center… it does NOT have to be exact, but you must have enough DSP to wrap around both fat and skinny edges of the stop. Apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue along one long edge of the Chipboard, and onto DSP. Use the Bone Folder to smooth and form hard lines along the edges of the Easel Stop. Step 18 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 19 Add Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the other long edge of Chipboard, and on the DSP. Wrap around Easel Stop and smooth with Bone Folder. Align the Easel Stop with the narrow end of the Easel Stop toward the outside of the Easel (wider end facing the DSP covered Chipboard Easel Stand). Step 19 Step 20 Add Multipurpose Liquid Glue and position the Stop so that it lines up with the Easel along three edges. All exposed large Chipboard areas are covered at this point. Hold the Easel Stop between your fingers until the glue has dried. Step 20 www.CraftProjectCentral.com Email:[email protected] Artwork © Stampin’ Up! Step 21 Here is what your Recipe Card Easel should look like at this point. Step 21 Optional Steps: • Punch: Basic Black 1-3/8” circle, Very Vanilla 1-3/4” scallop circle, and Basic Black 2-3/8” scallop circle. Assemble graduated layers to represent a dinner plate and charger. Use a White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen to add a comma to the inner Basic Black circle. • Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to glue dinner plate beneath Window Sheet, directly to DSP on Easel, positioning it approximately ¾” from the right edge. • Using a Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad, stamp the knife, fork and spoon images from the Compliments to the Chef stamp set onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. Cut around the stamped images with Paper Snips and glue next to the dinner plate. • Cut 3” x 5” Very Vanilla card stock Recipe Cards, and stamp with images from the Compliments to the Chef stamp set as shown. • Cut an additional piece of Medium Window Sheet 5-3/4” x 2” and glue directly to Easel Stop with tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
