P7 Newsletter December 2012
December 2012 For P7 Science we have been learning about the water cycle and how it works. The water cycle is very interesting. One amazing fact we learned was that the water we drink is about 8 billion years old! We have been watching lots of videos that have helped us in our Science assessment. By Ruaridh On the 9th of November P7 had a visit from a musician named Peter. He brought in his tin whistle and he played us a song. He asked us lots of questions such , “what kind of music was he playing?” , we answered “Celtic,” and it was correct! He also brought in some leaflets to inform us about the music lessons he takes. By Emma At the moment, In language we are writing several news reports. These reports are linked to our visit to Kirsty Wark. We wrote a report on the Gaza attacks and one about a fire in Bangladesh. It was really interesting and when I was writing them I felt like a journalist. I hope we get more opportunities to write news reports as I really enjoyed it—as did other children in P7. By Stui On the 19th November we went to Craigdhu Primary to see Kirsty Wark. She told us about her job as a Journalist and a Television Presenter. She showed us how we would write an interview and we all had questions to ask. When she left we got to talk to the P7s in Craigdhu so when we move up to secondary, we will know who they all are . By Erin In the school we had a Halloween contest for people who had the best costume. Hamish and Bethany in our class won. Hamish had a Dementor costume from Harry Potter and Bethany dressed up as a witch. They both got a certificate. Most of the class dressed up and the money went to school funds. By David On 23rd November, we had our school Toy Fair. Lots of children brought in the toys they were finished with to sell them off to help school funds. P7 and Pupil Council helped to set up and man the stalls. They also helped the younger children. This was a great responsibility for the p7s but everything went as planned and they were very helpful to the younger children. Every one had a great time raising money for school funds. By Hamish In November our local MP, Jo Swinson, came into our class to have a chat with us about her daily life and what Parliament life is like. Every class had a visitor in for World of Work week. We were delighted Jo Swinson could visit us as this matched our topic ‘the Scottish Parliament’ very well. It was very interesting listening to Jo Swinson as we really got a feeling of what it would be like to be an MP. She answered all our questions—thank you for visiting our class! By Andrew Www.clober.e-dunbarton.sch.uk P7 wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
