TWENTY FIFTH SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY TIME
Focus: Let us seek the Lord so we
may receive the many good gifts
He wishes to lavish upon us.
The first reading offers a beautiful
admonition: “seek the Lord while
He may be found, call on Him while
He is still near.” Some reasons why
it is important to do this is because
God is good and loving, gracious
and merciful, and offers us peace
and salvation. Let us seek the Lord
so that we may receive God’s good
gifts.
The first reading exhorts us to seek
the Lord while He may be found. The
reading from Philippians reminds us
to conduct ourselves in a way that
is worthy of the Gospel of Christ.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells a parable
about a landowner hiring laborers
to work in His vineyard. Its lesson is
that the first shall be last and the last
shall be first.
RECENT BAPTISMS
Ty William Klunk
Son of Chad and Tess Klunk
We welcome him as the newest
member baptized into our Catholic
Faith Family. May God bless him and
his family as they grow together in
God’s love.
ST. VINCENT de PAUL
NEWS
St. Vincent de Paul was a priest of
the Catholic Church who dedicated
himself to serving the poor. He
was canonized in 1737. De Paul
was renowned for his compassion,
humility, and generosity and is known
as the “Great Apostle of Charity”.
In honor of this great and holy man,
our own St. Vincent de Paul Society
strives to take care of the less
fortunate of our parish. Their mission
is funded strictly by YOU and your
donations.
In honor of the Feast of St. Vincent
de Paul, we will be holding a second
collection September 27th and 28th.
Please give generously as winter is
approaching and the need seems to
be greater during the winter months.
2014 ANNUAL CATHOLIC
SERVICES APPEAL
AUCTION UPDATE
This weekend a letter will be sent
to each Catholic household in the
diocese asking for your support. Every
fiscal year each parish in the diocese
is assessed an amount determined by
the total parish receipts. The funds
from the assessment help to support
the programs, services and ministries
supported by ACSA and meet the
larger diocesan needs of Catholics
and others in need in the Diocese of
Springfield.
In 2013, our assessment was
$98,397 and through your generous
contributions we raised $29,607,
leaving St. Mary’s a balance of $68,540
which the parish paid in June.
This year our assessment is $139,109.
In 2013, 218 of our 1500 parishioners
contributed to help us offset the
amount for which the parish was
responsible; will you help us meet our
goal this year?
We ask you to please prayerfully
consider a contribution to the Annual
Catholic Services Appeal this year,
and we thank you in advance for any
donation you are able to make!
2014/15 ST. MARY’S
SUCCESS CARDS ARE HERE
There are several new discounts
this year, in addition to last year’s
favorites. They make great stocking
stuffers, employee incentives, tokens
of appreciation and cost only $5! The
best part of the Success Cards is that
they can be used over and over.
The proceeds will benefit our 7th
grade students in support of their
class trip next year. These cards are
available for purchase from any 7th
grade student, in the back of church
after masses or in the parish office
during the week.
Thank you in advance for your efforts!
