Brazil nut butter

What is it?
Raw Brazil Nuts are nature's richest source of
selenium and are also a good source of magnesium
and thiamine. We add a touch of Himalayan crystal
salt to this butter as a source of trace minerals.
Our Brazil Nuts are fairly traded and wild
harvested by an indigenous group from the jungle
around Madre de Dios in the Peruvian
Amazon. Brazil Nut trees can live up to 1000 years
and require biodiversity for pollination and
growth. Eating Brazil Nuts supports conservation
of the Amazon jungle.
Banana, brazil nut & maca powder
bread.
You need:
• 1 1/2 cups brazil nut, and or almond butter, cashew
butter.
• 2 ripe bananas
• 4 free range eggs
• 4 tsp Maca Powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
• Handful of slivered Almonds for decorating
(optional)
Method
1. Preheat the Oven to 150°C, and line a loaf tin with
baking paper.
2.In a large bowl, add the nut butter, banana,
eggs, maca powder, baking soda and
vinegar. Using a potato masher, mash all
ingredients well and mix together until
mixture resembles a smooth paste, you can
also do this in a food processor.
3.Spoon the batter into the loaf tin. If decorating
with the almonds, scatter them evenly on
top. Pop in to the oven and bake for 40-50
minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
Leave to cool in the tin before inverting on
to a cooling rack.
This banana and almond butter bread is not only
deliciously light and fluffy to eat, it is made entirely
out of nutrient rich, wholesome ingredients. It also
contains the superfood maca, giving it a slight malty
vanilla taste.

Coconut dream
NEW!
Our latest creations from the Kitz Kitchen! Okay,
they are not totally raw, but they are totally
delicious. We couldn’t resist sharing these with
you. Sweet, chewy coconut bliss! These are
made with a beautiful organic shredded coconut
and organic brown rice syrup base, plus the
highest quality organic dried fruit, organic cacao
and organic vanilla. In a range of delectable
flavours to make your taste buds sing. Every
product is made entirely of certified organic
ingredients! We don’t consider them ‘raw’
because the brown rice is heated to develop the
syrup, but they are so good we just had to share
them. In four irresistable flavours (for now).
Coconut Dream Banana
Cacao
Not totally raw, but still totally yummy.
Another pure coconut indulgence. Coconut,
brown rice syrup, bananas and cacoa instantly
transports you to a tropical state of
deliciousness. Chewy awesomeness and 100%
Organic ingredients. Low temperature
dehydrated for a short session in the dehydrator
makes for a great texture. They make a great
snack, or use to top your muesli in the morning
or on top of dairy-free ice cream. Multiple
servings, in a convenient re-sealable bag.
No salt. Free from: gluten, wheat, dairy, yeast,
eggs, soy, peanuts, sesame, fish, shellfish or
cane sugar.
Coconut Dream Classic
Not totally raw, but still totally yummy.
A pure coconut indulgence. The deceptively
simple combination of organic dried coconut,
organic brown rice syrup and a hint of organic
raw vanilla lets the flavour of the coconut
shine. Chewy awesomeness and 100% Organic
ingredients. Low temperature dehydrated for a
short session in the dehydrator makes for a great
texture. They make a great snack, or use to top
your muesli in the morning.

Coconut Dream Cranberry
Not totally raw, but still totally yummy!
A pure coconut indulgence. Cranberries are an
original super-food. Tart and sweet at the same
time, these craisins (cranberry treated as we do
grapes to create a raisin) are slightly apple juice
sweetened when dried to help them keep their
colour and moderate their natural
tartness. Chewy awesomeness and 100%
Organic ingredients. Low temperature
dehydrated for a short session in the dehydrator
makes for a great texture. They make a great
snack, or use to top your muesli in the morning.
Multiple servings, in a convenient re-sealable
bag.
Not totally raw, but still totally yummy!
A pure coconut indulgence. Lime is a delightfully
bright and zesty counterpoint to the sweet
coconut and rice syrup. I have to compare it to
the experience of eating Thai soups, such as
Tom Ka Gai. While there is no chilli in this treat,
it does touch enough places on the tongue to
make your mouth sing! Chewy awesomeness

Microdermabarsion
Microdermabrasion is one of the more recent
skin-care techniques to have crossed over
from Hollywood to the mainstream. It's being
advanced as an "instant facelift" -- an effective
alternative to costlier and more invasive
procedures like plastic surgery, chemical peels
and Botox injections. Recently, more and more
men are trying it, instead of pursuing cosmetic
surgery.
So what exactly is microdermabrasion, what
does it promise and what effect does it actually
have on your face? Do you need a doctor, or is
it something you can do yourself? In this
article, we'll look at the science behind
microdermabrasion, see what a treatment is
like and find out what it does to your skin.
The Basics
Microdermabrasion is a general term for the
application of tiny rough grains to buff away
the surface layer of skin. Many different
products and treatments use this method,
including medical procedures, salon
treatments and creams and scrubs that you
apply yourself at home. It's usually done to the
face, chest, neck, arms or hands. Before we
can understand how microdermabrasion does
what it does, it's important to understand how
skin works.
Your skin is made up of two main layers, the
epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is
the layer closest to the outside world. It's a set
of dead skin cells on top of another layer of
cells that are in the process of maturing. The
topmost layer is called the stratum corneum.
The stratum corneum mostly acts as a barrier
between the outside world and the lower skin
9
4
3
layers. It keeps all but the smallest molecules
from getting through.
When you put lotions or creams on your skin,
some of the moisture passes through the
stratum corneum, but not all of it. This layer is
home to many minor skin imperfections like fine
wrinkle lines and blemishes.
All of the action in microdermabrasion takes
place at the level of the stratum corneum. Since
it only really targets the epidermis (and not the
dermis), it is more accurate to call it micro-epidermabrasion. Affecting deeper layers of skin
would be painful and harmful, and it would risk
permanently embedding the tiny grains into the
skin.
Whether done with a product at home or in a
professional setting with a specialized tool, the
principle of microdermabrasion is the same. The
idea is that if you remove or break up the
stratum corneum, the body interprets that as a
mild injury and rushes to replace the lost skin
cells with new and healthy ones. In the first hour
after treatment, this causes mild edema
(swelling) and erythema (redness). Depending
on the individual, these side effects can last
anywhere from an hour to two days.
This process has a few beneficial effects. With
the stratum corneum gone, the skin's surface is
improved. The healing process brings with it
newer skin cells that look and feel smoother.
Some of the skin's visible imperfections, like sun
damage, blemishes and fine lines, are removed.
Also, without the stratum corneum acting as a
barrier, medicinal creams and lotions are more
effective because more of their active
ingredients and moisture can find their way
down to the lower layers of skin. As
microdermabrasion temporarily removes some
moisture from the skin, it is always followed by
the application of moisturizing creams.
Early studies suggest that repeated
microdermabrasion treatment at regular
intervals may influence the way the lower
layers of skin grow, as well, removing deeper
blemishes over time. Some evidence seems to
indicate that the rapid loss of skin moisture
may be what triggers the lower skin layers to
work overtime in speeding healthy cells up to
the surface.
Microdermabrasion Candidates
Microdermabrasion works especially well as a
way to clean out clogged pores. It's a useful
alternative for patients whose skin is too
sensitive to use anti-acne drugs like
Retin-A. It's not recommended for those who
have active oral herpes. Here's a list of the
conditions that make someone unsuited for
microdermabrasion:
• Active rosacea
• Fragile capillaries
• Vascular lesions
• Widespread acne
• Herpetic lesions (herpes)
• Warts
• Open sores
• Skin lesions
• Anyone who takes anti-coagulants
• Eczema
• Dermatitis
• Psoriasis
• Lupus
• Erythematosus

put.) The dry ingredients–shredded coconut, arrowroot flour, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder and salt–get combined Ginger Coconut Prawns
Ingredients: • 1 pound prawns, raw (31-‐‑40′s work well) • 1 cup finely shredded coconut • 1/4 cup arrowroot flour • 1/2 tsp ground ginger • 1/4 tsp garlic powder • 1/4 tsp onion powder • 1/2 tsp kosher salt • 2 eggs • 1 TBSP coconut aminos coconut oil for frying. Prep: If your prawns are frozen, thaw them and remove the shells and/or tails. Lay on a paper towel to let them dry out a bit. (Dry prawns will take on the egg batter better, which in turn helps the coconut blend stay first. Then in a separate bowl, whip together the eggs and coconut aminos. Dredge each prawn in the egg batter first, then toss it around in the coconut blend. I like to lay the egg-‐‑drenched shrimp in the coconut mix, bury it, press the coconut into the shrimp gently, then lift and give it a shake. It usually covers the shrimp evenly without clumps. Be sure to shake off the excess so it doesn’t fall off during frying and junk up the pan. I used to think that leaving a thick crust on my battered/fried foods would turn out better, but I was very wrong in that thinking. Live and learn! Prep the prawns first, then move to frying. These cook up quick and since 14

you’re working in batches, there isn’t much time to dredge the prawns fresh for each round. Plus, who likes cooking with one gooey hand? Do all your dredging and coating ahead of time. Heat a broad sauté pan to medium-‐‑high and add a couple heaping spoonfuls of coconut oil. We need enough to reach about a quarter of the way up the prawn. I had to add more oil after the second batch, but thankfully never had to clean the pan and start over–there’s that proper shaking paying off! These are absolutely fabulous on their own with any number of Paleo-‐‑approved dipping sauces. I decided to break out my Asian noodle secret weapon tonight, Shirataki noodles, and smother them in a couple spoonfuls of Well Fed’s Sunshine Sauce, topped with fresh scallions. I adore this cookbook and this sauce will make a believer out of you if you aren’t on the Well Fed wagon already! Drunken noodles topped with Ginger Coconut Prawns?!? I heart Paleo. So work in batches, lightly frying each side. It works perfectly actually–by the time the coconut coating is nicely golden the prawn is ideally cooked inside. Set cooked prawns aside on a paper-‐‑towel lined plate. http://popularpaleo.com/2013/01/23/gingercoconut-prawns/
