Finally, a nice stretch of weather. No excuses now for getting
you’re A on the road! Although, I couldn’t bring myself to
get her out this morning before 7 a.m. and at 38° to drive to
Starkey Ford in York for the M.O.A.L. ANTIQUE CAR
SHOW. I settled for the Subaru. Model A’s had a great
showing with a count of 40 plus.
A great idea that came out of last month’s meeting was a
Club Lending Library consisting of books, tools, DVDs etc.
Come to May meeting and help sort out the details.
This month’s garage tour after our meeting is at Alan
Hawkes’ on Route 114 in Standish. His collection includes
an assortment of vehicles including A’s. Bring you’re A or
come in a modern car. The weather guys are saying the skies
might be damp.
We are looking for a short presentation for the meeting. Give
me a call if you have an idea or come prepared to jump in.
And lastly, this month’s refreshments are compliments of
Pam Trafton, Val Ward and “Chady” Chadbourne.
That’s all folks….See you Saturday….DOC

Techie thoughts from Peter Brown
Because a Model A owner requested such thoroughness, I recently checked rear axle brake
drum tightness to find a nearly loose axle nut. One that I know was tight when installed two
or three years ago.
Then, to the owners request (and credit!), I checked for secure electrical connections at the
ignition switch and ammeter. To my surprise, I found an ammeter knurled knob partially
backed off. Except for starter current, all “juice” flows through the ammeter and miraculously all had been functioning well….but who knows for how long!
Spring is here so the time is now to be thorough so use of our cars will be fun rather than a
headache.
Peter Brown
April 6th was the annual tune
up clinic at Dave White’s garage. There was only one
Model A and six “mechanics”.
Anna and Bill Spiller
arrived in there ‘29
Coupe. They didn’t
have anything in mind
but wanted to participate in the fun.
It was decided that the
noise from the engine
compartment needed to
be investigated. Turns
out the four bladed fan
had a wobble to it.
It was replaced with a two bladed
fan after removing many parts to
do the job. Job well done and
many thanks to all of those who
participated. Maybe next year
the weather won’t be so chilly
and there will be more A’s for us
to have fun with.
Club Dues are due each year in July. They can be mailed to:

President, Roland “Doc” Hannaford called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.,
Thirty-one members and two guests present.

Treasurer’s Report:
The March report was accepted and filed for audit.
Old Business:
Next Meeting: Kennebunk, refreshments will be provided by Val Ward, Bob Chadbourne and Pam Trafton
York County Shelter: The club received a thank you note for the donation of food and Christmas gifts.
New Business:
Open for Discussion: Rick Sylvester suggested options to spend some of the clubs funds, to benefit club
members. Possible options were literature, spare parts, tools and videos. He would like suggestions from
the membership to compile a list of needs. Doc mentioned we should look into setting money aside in a
CD.
Tours and Meet: Starkey Ford Car Show, May 5, Wakefield Pride Day May 18 and Limington Old Home
Day May 18.
June 8, 9 AM, Potluck Breakfast at the Brown Family cottage on Little Sebago. Then a tour to the Gray
Game Preserve.
Scholarship: Wayne Machado chairman of the committee said the group decided not to go ahead with a car
show this year. The club will be selling raffle tickets with guaranteed winners in the amounts of $500.00,
$200.00 and $100.00. The tickets were available to members. The drawing will take place Aug. 10th at the
monthly meeting.
Committee Guidelines: The president stated committees should always bring back their ideas to the club
for a vote.
MAFFI Museum: Bob Wright reported the museum will have their Grand Opening in May. Our club will
be recognized on a plaque at the museum for its donation. Doc suggested, after speaking with Stan Johnson, the club put into the budget an amount of money to be given to the museum for the next few years.
50/50 Raffle was won by Peter Brown and donated to club.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00
Respectfully submitted,
Pamela Trafton, Secretary
