No excuses now for getting you’re A on the road! Although, I couldn’t bring myself to get her out this morning before 7 a.m. and at 38° to drive to Starkey Ford in York for the M.O.A.L. ANTIQUE CAR SHOW. I settled for the Subaru. Model A’s had a great showing with a count of 40 plus. A great idea that came out of last month’s meeting was a Club Lending Library consisting of books, tools, DVDs etc. Come to May meeting and help sort out the details. This month’s garage tour after our meeting is at Alan Hawkes’ on Route 114 in Standish. His collection includes an assortment of vehicles including A’s. Bring you’re A or come in a modern car. The weather guys are saying the skies might be damp. We are looking for a short presentation for the meeting. Give me a call if you have an idea or come prepared to jump in. And lastly, this month’s refreshments are compliments of Pam Trafton, Val Ward and “Chady” Chadbourne. That’s all folks….See you Saturday….DOC 2 Page 2 …..Volume 4, Issue 5 ****************MEETING PLACE************ Kennebunk Town Hall Kennebunk, Maine Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 9:00 am AGENDA NEW MEMBERS & GUEST Introduction with car info SECRETARY’S REPORT—Pam Trafton Approval of April Minutes TREASURER’S REPORT Rick Sylvester OLD BUSINESS June Meeting Ideas and Location June Refreshments NEW BUSINESS Tour Committee Recommendations Volunteers for Club Officers PRESENTATION To be Announced ADJOURN Refreshments provided by: Pam Trafton, Val Ward, Chady Chadbourne The "Pine Tree Model A Club” accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of any statements, the fairness of any prices, or the quality of any goods or services mentioned in the “Pine Tree Model A Newsletter”. Craig Hysler with a ‘30 Coupe won first in Model A and King Bradgon won 2nd with Huckster Wagon. Steve Collier won 1st with a ‘30 A Ford in Pickup Class. Thank you all for coming and making it a good show! Paul Hanson, Secretary MOAL 4 Volume 4, Issue 5 Page 4 Techie thoughts from Peter Brown Because a Model A owner requested such thoroughness, I recently checked rear axle brake drum tightness to find a nearly loose axle nut. One that I know was tight when installed two or three years ago. Then, to the owners request (and credit!), I checked for secure electrical connections at the ignition switch and ammeter. To my surprise, I found an ammeter knurled knob partially backed off. Except for starter current, all “juice” flows through the ammeter and miraculously all had been functioning well….but who knows for how long! Spring is here so the time is now to be thorough so use of our cars will be fun rather than a headache. Peter Brown April 6th was the annual tune up clinic at Dave White’s garage. There was only one Model A and six “mechanics”. Anna and Bill Spiller arrived in there ‘29 Coupe. They didn’t have anything in mind but wanted to participate in the fun. It was decided that the noise from the engine compartment needed to be investigated. Turns out the four bladed fan had a wobble to it. It was replaced with a two bladed fan after removing many parts to do the job. Job well done and many thanks to all of those who participated. Maybe next year the weather won’t be so chilly and there will be more A’s for us to have fun with. Club Dues are due each year in July. They can be mailed to: Rick Sylvester—72 Fletcher Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043 5 Pine Tree Chapter April 13, 2013 President, Roland “Doc” Hannaford called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m., Thirty-one members and two guests present.
