Microlet ® LANCING DEVICE NOWith Smooth Silicone w Coated Lan cets! Bayer’s MICROLET ®2 lancing device is used for obtaining capillary blood samples from the fingertip. IMPORTANT: Do not use the same M ICROLET 2 lancing device on more than one person. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: 1. Prepare the puncture site. Wash your hands with soap and warm water. This helps increase blood flow to the fingertips. Rinse and dry thoroughly. 2. Remove the endcap. Grip Indent Blue Release Button Lancet Holder Lancet Blue Cocking Handle Protective Cap Adjustable Endcap Endcap Dial In one hand, hold the MICROLET2 lancing device with your thumb on the grip indent as shown above. In your other hand, hold the endcap dial and gently snap off the endcap from top to bottom. 3. Hold a MICROLET lancet and rotate the protective cap 1/4 turn but do not remove. Always use M I C R O L ET lancets for best operation. Firmly push the lancet straight into the lancet holder. After you hear or feel the “click”, continue pushing until the lancet comes to a complete stop. Twist off the protective cap and save for disposal of used lancet. 4. Replace the adjustable endcap. 5. Select any of the five puncture depth settings by rotating the dial on the endcap to a smaller drop for a shallower puncture or larger drop for a deeper puncture. Adjusting the amount of pressure applied to the puncture site will also affect puncture depth. 6. Place the MICROLET2 lancing device firmly against the puncture site and press the blue release button. The sides of the fingertips may be more comfortable. NOTE: If you need to re-cock the lancing CLICK device, grip, pull or push until device clicks as shown, and release. To help form the blood drop, wait a few seconds, then stroke your hand and finger toward the puncture site. Do not squeeze around the puncture site. 8. Test immediately after the blood drop has formed. 9. Wipe the puncture site with a clean, dry tissue and maintain pressure on the site until the bleeding stops. 10. To remove the used lancet, carefully remove the endcap by holding the endcap dial and snapping the endcap off. Place the protective cap that you saved when you loaded the lancet on a flat surface with the Bayer logo face down. With the used lancet still in the 84631698_Microlet2_Inst_EN_FRca_v1 MICROLET2 lancing device, push the lancet into the center of the cap. Point the device toward a container for sharp objects (an empty plastic bottle with a lid will work.) Label the container properly and keep out of the reach of children. While pressing the blue release button , firmly pull the blue cocking handle past resistance and the lancet will fall into the container. Replace the endcap. Potential Biohazard: Always dispose of the used lancet properly to prevent injury or contamination to others. Use a new MICROLET lancet each time you test . After the lancet is used, it is no longer sterile and has the potential to spread infection. All products or objects which come in contact with human blood, even after cleaning, should be handled as if capable of transmitting viral diseases. Clean your MICROLET2 lancing device after every use with a solution of water and mild detergent or a solution of nine parts water and one part bleach. Slightly moisten a tissue with the solution. Important: Avoid excess moisture. Remove the endcap. Clean the exterior of the device and interior and exterior of the endcap. Wipe dry with a tissue before use. Replace the endcap.
