A compact and well engineered pillar drill for

features is the extension wings fitted to the cast

These are truly universal drilling machines that will be an asset to
any home workshop. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of these
machine is the variable drilling width capacity of between 220mm
and 440mm, measured from the centre line of the chuck to the front
face of the column. This gives a maximum drilling width well above
normal drill press capacity which, coupled with the ability to vary
the drilling angle, gives the machine a high degree of versatility.
The horizontal movement of the head is controlled by a rack and
pinion system which can be firmly locked in position. Tilting is easily
achieved by undoing a locking knob at the top of the column, setting
the required angle against a scale and re-locking the knob. There
is a positive locating pin which runs in a keyway on the horizontal
bar to ensure that the head returns exactly to the vertical. The 350W
induction motor drives the drilling head, equipped with a 1-16mm
keyless chuck through a V belt and a choice of five pulleys giving a
speed range of (5) 460-2,480rpm. In other respects this drill press is
similar to the standard models, with an accurate quill and fitted with
rubber downfeed grips, NVR switch, chuck guard and belt cover safety
switch. One word of warning - the chuck is located in the drive quill
with the conventional Morse taper which requires an axial loading
to keep it securely in place; if the head is used in the horizontal
position together with a sanding drum or polishing mop, there is a
risk of the chuck coming loose. Available in two models, AH16RD is
bench mounted and the AH16FRD is floor standing. Please note: the
morticing attachment is not suitable for this machine.

These are large, very strong, highly accurate pillar drills suitable
for all round Trade workshop use. They are fitted with a powerful
cool running alloy bodied 550W motors to provide plenty of
power. They also have an exceptionally accurate quill with the
spindle running in SKF bearings to give a highly consistant
drilling performance. Amongst the features which make them
particularly suitable for many uses are the 3-16mm keyless chuck,
the tiltable work table with 16mm T-slots and coolant gutter, cast
iron down feed operating handles, a decent depth stop system
and a T-slotted base for firmly securing large workpieces. Safety

The AT3202FDP is a rugged drill press suited to the small
engineering workshop or large woodworking facility. Ample
power is provided by the 750W induction motor and the drive
to the spindle is by two large section V belts. 12 speeds provide
plenty of choice for just about any task. The quill housing has
been machined to a high degree of accuracy, whilst the spindle
runs in SKF ball bearings to ensure consistent and accurate
drilling. A very good depth stop system is included, plus there is
120mm of chuck travel. There is a MT3 taper in the spindle fitted
with a 3-20mm precision keyless chuck. The table can also be
tilted up to 45° L or R. A fluid drain channel is moulded around
the table edges. A one piece cast iron handle controls the spindle
downfeed, allowing high leverage and control. Safety is catered
for by the inclusion of an electrically interlocked chuck guard and
belt cover, plus a front mounted NVR switch with an “E” stop cover.
At 76kg this is no lightweight machine and it can comfortably
handle everyday tasks in a busy workshop. A Morse taper drift
and service tools are provided.

This is a very useful device enabling the secure positioning of a
100mm extraction hose or dust port in many different ways. The
saddle and hose clip have a very strong magnetic mount which

facility, the Axminster Woodworker’s Gauge Block Set consists of
six 25mm diameter blocks with heights of 16, 8, 4, 2, 1.5 and 1mm.
Used singly or in various combinations these give an accurate
guide from 1 to 32.5mm in half millimetre steps. Used for setting
other gauges, testing widths of grooves, mortices etc. or fences to

A premium quality, multi-purpose, water soluble,
cutting fluid, which is suitable for use in automated,
machine fed, CNC or manual cutting metal working
applications which require a drench applied fluid.
As it is transparent the workpiece remains visible.
Specially formulated to remain useable considerably
longer than traditional fluids, it is suitable for most operations
and with most common metals and alloys. Whilst you’re rapidly
removing swarf, it will remain clean and allow increased cutting
speeds. It contains cleaning and degreasing surfactants to help
maintain tool cleanliness. The spout is cleverly stored in the
side of the 5 litre container so there is no excuse for losing it. An
average dilution rate (depending on what you are cutting) of
6% makes Tufcut Aqua economical to use too. Also available in a
300ml bottle making it more practical for the home user.

This attachment offers a simple and convenient way of converting
a pillar drill into a lightweight morticing machine, provided that
the collar diameter (the part where the chuck guard normally
fits) is either 65mm, 60mm or 55mm. Best mounted on to an MDF
base plate (not supplied), the attachment works well once the
mortice bits have been cut down to a length to suit the pillar drill
being used. When installing the chisel and bit together, ensure
that there is a minimum of 1.5mm of clearance between the bit
and the chisel and that the bit is securely tightened to avoid
damage to the chisel. The attachment has a 65mm mounting
diameter and is supplied with an adaptor which allows for fitting
to 60 or 55mm diameter collars. Takes 3/4” shank chisel and bits.

At last, a simple and effective drill bit sharpening machine which
is easy to operate and which will produce standard 118° drill
points accurately every time. The drill bit is clamped into the
movable carriage, advanced up to the grinding wheel and the
carriage is moved from left to right to produce an accurately
ground relief angle; a repeat operation with the carriage rotated
about its axis produces a perfectly matched second relief angle.
The carborundum wheel, which is rotated at 8,000rpm by the
quiet 85W motor, will sharpen carbon steel and high speed steel
bits from 3mm to 13mm in diameter. A dressing stone for retruing the wheel is included; full instructions are also supplied.

action can really apply a huge
amount of pressure to the work to ensure
it stays exactly where it’s put. The clamps are
particularly useful for securing awkward
items where a vice is not really suitable
and, of course, can be used in a host of
different applications, not just on pillar

Some pillar drills are constructed with a bias towards metal drilling,
and don’t quite fully meet the needs of the woodworker. The
Axminster Pillar Drill Table helps to redress the balance by increasing
the work area and making drilling safer and more accurate.
The MDF base board, which bolts to the slots in the drill table,
measures 610 x 305 x 25mm and an aluminium extrusion forms a full
length, 75mm high fence. This fence features adjustable fence plates,
a repeat stop, L&R self adhesive scales and a rear dust extraction
port 62.5mm o/d. Two T-slots at 270mm centres are provided with
material clamps and can be used for fixing custom made drilling
jigs for repeatable accuracy, morticing etc. In the centre of the base
is a removable sacrificial insert. When using the pillar drill with a
bobbin sander attachment, make an insert with a central hole and by
lowering and raising the quill full use can be made of the abrasive,
plus the table will give all round close support. The Axminster Pillar
Drill Table extends the functions of the machine and makes it far
more woodworker friendly.

This is a semi-rigid hose which stays put when bent into shape.
Amongst its various properties is its ability to change diameter
over a range of about plus or minus 20mm when twisted in
either clockwise or anti-clockwise directions. This means that
a short length suitably adjusted for diameter can be used to
adapt between hoses and machine outlets of different sizes.
Another useful application is as a dust collector on a lathe or a
bench-mounted machine with a short length of the hose being
connected to the end of the extractor hose and positioned close
to where the dust is generated. Available in grey only, diameter of

A range of high precision, rugged, all steel drill chucks, all with B16
mounting tapers. Equally suitable for use in drill presses, milling
machines or all types of lathes. Available as 13 or 16mm keyless
chucks or a 13mm keyed unit, the later being slightly shorter in
length if space is a problem. The jaw opening range is 0-13mm or

These are good units to upgrade the standard chucks offered on

RDP-20B Floor Radial Drill Press
The RDP-20B radial floor drill press is an extremely robust 16mm
drill. It is very different in design, following the principles of radial
drills designed for hobby use but in a much larger, robust fashion.
The main attraction of a drill design such as this is the sheer
versatility of it. With a column able to be moved both vertically
and horizontally plus swivelling through 360°, this machine can
place a hole in the centre of a 1.5m workpiece. With the ability
to incline the drilling head, precision angled drilling can also
be accomplished, which is normally only ever done on a mill/
drill. This machine is fitted with a 325mm round work table
which inclines -45° to +45° and is easily removed if required,
allowing the large base to be used as a work support. This has

X0 is solidly made and has a hefty cast iron base, making it stable

awkward metal components. The toggle action can really apply
a huge amount of pressure to the work to ensure it stays exactly
where it’s put. The clamps are particularly useful for securing

ground faces and slideways for accurate
and precise operation. The jaws have
triangular grooves for gripping circular
items, both horizontally and vertically,
and there are recesses in the tops of the jaws for gripping smaller
items. In order to save space on the drill table the handle is held
captive in the frame and the lead screw retracts into it as the jaws are
opened. The vice has three machined mounting faces, each equipped
with clamping slots or holes, which allow holes to be drilled at right

A well made cast iron, two axes compound table with two T slots
of 58mm spacing along its length and a fine ground finish. The
475 x 155mm table has excellent travel in both directions and
is fitted with adjustable gibs to take up the slack in the slides.
Calibration of the wheels is in imperial units; one complete
revolution of the wheels moves the table 0.1 in. and there are
sub-divisions around each wheel which allow for more precise
adjustment of the table travel. Although not a precision device,
the cross table is nevertheless a useful aid for drilling patterns
of holes and similar jobs and is accurate enough for most
non-precision purposes. The T slots are 15mm wide at the table
surface, opening out to 20mm wide by 10mm deep for the bolt
head. The base is 200 x 270mm, the longer dimension being at
right angles to the table. The base slots are 60mm apart, and the
table travels are 280mm lengthwise and 155mm fore and aft.
Height is 125mm and weight 23.5kg.

A robustly made cast iron compound table for the Axminster
Micro Drill or any other small drill. The work table, which measures
90 x 200mm, has three 8mm wide T slots for securing the work; it
has a travel of 55mm either side of the central position, indicated
by a scale along the front edge. Fore-and-aft travel is 70mm. Both
leadscrews have a 1mm pitch and the control wheels have 50
sub-divisions, giving a movement of 0.02mm per graduation. The
base has six 6.3mm diameter mounting holes and the overall
height of the table is 63mm. A well made piece of equipment
with many uses around the engineer’s workshop.

other type of boring bit in that they are guided by their rims and
centre point. Holes bored with a Forstner are clean, accurate and flat
bottomed. Only a Forstner will bore half a hole on the edge of a board
or overlapping holes. Being flat bottomed, they are often used for
inlays in veneer work. Sizes 10 - 32mm have 8mm shanks, 35 - 50mm

Sometimes when plugging holes, no matter how carefully drilled,
the holes finish up slightly oversize for the plug, especially in soft
woods. These cabinet maker’s snug plug cutters overcome this
by cutting a slightly tapered plug. The first 3mm of the plug is
the diameter stated whilst the remaining length is then flared
out at an angle of 3°. Just tap the plug into place until you meet
resistance then cut off the excess. Also, unlike regular plug cutters
which have two cutting flutes, these plug cutters have four, giving
a much cleaner cut and a smooth-sided plug which fits perfectly
every time and is practically invisible. For best results use in a drill
press or power drill stand.

Veritas Mini Tenon Cutters
Developed for smaller diameter tenon cutting for use with small
stock. They are available in cutting diameters from 5/16” to 9/16”.
The 9/16” tenon is the size used historically for chair rungs. The
1/2” size is useful in many areas, e.g. members within trellis or
lattice work. All the sizes have a straight blade that cuts a 60°
shoulder tenon (not a radiused shoulder tenon as on the larger
sizes). The 5/16” cut tenons up to 1” long, and the 1/2” and 9/16”
cut tenons up to 1.3/8” long. A plug gauge is included for easy

Tenon Cutters
These are indispensable tools when it comes to making rustic
furniture, where there is a necessity to produce clean round
tenons with smoothly radiused shoulders on the ends of
sticks, branches, or more formal stock if you wish. With typical
Veritas attention to detail, anodised aluminium bodies are
accurately balanced to run smoothly in a hand-held power drill,
though they work just as smoothly in a bit brace. The cutters
are easily re-sharpened with a drum sander mounted in a drill
press, using a honing guide built into each tenon cutter. Sizes
16mm(5/8”), 19mm(3/4”), 22mm(7/8”) and 25mm(1”) have
905mm(3/8”) hex shanks and cut tenons up to 70mm(2.3/4”)
long. 32mm(1.1/4”), 38mm(1.1/2”), 44mm(1.3/4”) and 50mm(2”)
sizes have 13mm(1/2”) hex shanks; they cut serious tenons up
to 108mm(4.1/4”) long, suitable for beds, heavy chairs, and other
large-scale construction. Not to be used on a drill press.

The right tool to choose if you wish to make exact sized
dowels from any solid timber. The dowel plate is a rectangle
130mm(5.1/8”) x 38mm(1.1/2”), 6.3mm(1/4”) thick of surface
ground A-2 cryogenically treated tool steel, a very humble
looking but nonetheless a very precise tool. The holes are
machined with a 6° clearance on the underside but are straight
for the first 0.025”. The tool can be sharpened many times without
any change in the size of the holes, but quite frankly at 60
Rockwell it is doubtful whether it will ever need sharpening. Both
metric and imperial plates are available, to cut 3mm, 4mm, 6mm,
8mm, 10mm, 12mm & 16mm dowels or 1/8”, 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”,
1/2” & 5/8” in imperial sizes. A leather wallet to protect your dowel
plate is also available.

Obtaining dowels to perfectly match a project or specific species
of timber, is to say the least, almost impossible. Not so if you
own a Veritas Dowel cutter and have a few timber off-cuts to
hand. These cutters can be used two ways. Either use them like a
hand-held pencil sharpener, to put accurate tenons on the tips of
turnings or on rustic furniture components. Alternatively using
a cordless drill, you need only cut square stock slightly oversize
(1.5mm is ample) and use a square socket (with a 3/8” square
drive to 1/4” hex adaptor) to power the stock through the dowel
cutter. The carbon-steel blade in the plated zinc-alloy body is
adjustable. Works equally well in soft, green or hard woods. The
curved blade is relatively easy to sharpen when required. Imperial
sizes only available 3/8”(9.5mm), 7/16”(11mm) & 1/2”(12.7mm)
use the 1/2” drive socket for the 3/8” & 7/16” sizes and the 5/8”
drive socket for the 1/2” dowel. Dowel Cutters made in Canada.
Patented. The four-sided square sockets have a 3/8” square-drive

This specialist electrician’s and plumber’s tool will cut a neat 127mm
access hole in, chipboard flooring, Weyroc etc. The ingenious rebate
cutters around the top of the SBC and inbuilt depth stop produce
a perfect recess for the plastic cover caps used to fill the hole. Flush
fitting and easily removable, the cover caps allow direct access to
junction boxes, valves, light fittings etc below the floor. The teeth
of the holesaw are tungsten tipped to ensure long life, the rebate
cutters are solid carbide. The recommended speed is approximately
900rpm; always use a drill with a slipping clutch. Maximum depth

Unlike conventional core bits, these are made with very thin walls
and therefore cut a much thinner line out of the material. As a
consequence they use much less power and can be used with
lighter drills. The pilot drill fits into the end of the adaptor with a
spring-loaded ball bearing locator and the core drill then screws
onto the adaptor, resulting in a rigid assembly. There is a choice
of either SDS or hexagon adaptors, depending on the type of
drill being used. 300mm giving an overall length of 365mm. To
remove the core bits from the adaptors we recommend the use
of the tommy bar - (available separately) with its specially profiled
end. Made in Sheffield. N.B. The core bits need to be used in
conjunction with a pilot drill and hex shaft or SDS adaptor - these

These dry diamond core bits are of superior design and high
quality manufacture. They are suitable for use on lightweight
building materials, ordinary facing brickwork and blockwork up
to 10N/ sq mm. These cores give rapid, clean service entries with
virtually no making good required. The cores thread onto an
adaptor, either with a SDS or Hex shank to suit your drill chuck.
The adaptor can be fitted with a pilot drill to guide the core. For
maximum safety and efficiency use a drill of at least 850W with a
rigid side handle and fitted with an integral slipping clutch. Cores

Veritas Hinge-Boring Jig
This is a very comprehensive drilling jig system for building things
like a complete set of kitchen cupboards, free standing wardrobes
and bookcases. For accurate, consistent drilling in all panel types
and rails removing the need for time consuming marking out.
The hole pattern is designed to fit various hardware fittings and
all holes are consistent with a 32mm spacing and all in reference
to the sides and ends of the panels. Set the rails and rods for
drilling on the face or end of a panel, the bush carrier straddles
the rail, with the selected size of drill bushing in the hole in the
rail where the first hole is to be drilled. Holes are then drilled as
required for the design. This deluxe system 32 jig is supplied with
3 rails with fixing screws, 2 x regular-length rods (for work up to
12”), 2 x long rods ( for work up to 24” wide), 2 x clamp heads and
clamp tails, bush carrier with 5,8 and 10mm bushes, gauge head,
2 x dowelling jig bases, connector rods and plate, 3/32” hex key
and 2 x register pins.
Drilling 35mm holes for cabinet hinges is usually done on a
specially jigged drill press in a small shop, or on a very expensive
machine in a large workshop. This hand-held boring jig outperforms both in its speed and its versatility. The precision-cast
aluminum alloy frame incorporates a depth-adjustable carbidetipped bit with outlining spurs for clean holes in solid wood,
veneers, or melamine-covered material. The micrometer fence
screws let you dial any backset up to 12mm, and an integral rule
makes it easy to set the depth of cut up to 16mm; both dimensions
cover all 35mm cup hinges available. In addition, a set of spacers,
which let you drill for flap hinges (with breakout up to 10mm), is
included. The 1/4” hex drive lets you use a quick-change chuck
or a hex-head socket powered by an electric drill. The stop rod is
usable left or right handed. The base plate is countersunk for most
common cup-hinge screw holes; these can be drilled quickly using
the same fence and rod stop settings as used for the cup holes. The
base plate also contains a pair of countersinks spaced 32mm apart
for drilling hinge mounting-plate holes on the inside of cabinets.

Veritas Shelf-Drilling Jig
This drilling jig eliminates the time-consuming layout work usually
associated with installing shelf supports. The jig guarantees that
the holes will be exactly opposite each other and at equally spaced
intervals. Twin-register pins positioned in the rails fit into holes you
have already drilled, ensuring that the holes will continue to be
accurately spaced. An entire upright can be accurately chain drilled
with no chance of error and no need for detailed measuring. You are
assured of holes drilled at exactly 90° because the hardened bushings
are 20mm(13/16”) long (substantially longer than others available).
The jig comes with regular length clamp rods for use with material
300mm(12”) wide or narrower. Long rods are available for material up
to 610mm(24”) wide, and extra long rods for work up to 915mm(36”)
wide. A 7mm sleeve-setting punch with hardwood handle is included.
It will set the most common European support/sleeve combinations
neatly without damaging the sleeve or upright. Eleven bushings are

A very clever jig that allows you to very accurately position holes
and mirror on an opposite member if required for dowelling.
Simple to look at and use the secret is in the precision with which
the jig has been made that ensures accurate hole position every
time.
A network of holes in the jig and pins are used as reference stops
against your work so no matter what the shape the hole position
can be repeated. Simply choose the correct drill bush and screw
this into the jig so that it will guide your drill bit. Once drilled,
remove pins and bushes, relocate in the same holes, protruding
from opposite side of the plate, this then guides the plate and

This very precise drilling jig is
designed specifically to guide
the drilling bit to cut mortices for
door locks and their face plates. It is quick
and simple to set up, self centring and locks
onto the door edge securely. It really is a simple
process: mark the lock length on to the door, select
the width of mortice cutter that suits your lock, set
the depth collar, pass the drill shaft through the
jig’s guide bush, lock the jig to the door and using
power from your drill, drive the carbide tipped
mortice cutter into the door moving up and down;
repeat process for the faceplate. This produces a
very clean smooth cut and is one of the fastest
most accurate ways to cut a mortice. You can also use it to cut
hinges. Power drill with a 13mm chuck running at speeds 2,000

Very deep drilling is also possible with the Souber lock jig, this
long adaptor replaces the standard arbor shaft ensuring that the
drill is supported and guided as much as possible to fit electric
locks etc. Two long drills are available separately.
Souber Housing Kits for Lock Jig
These housing kits fit the Souber lock jig. Three types are
available: Housing kit with fixings for doors up to 55mm or doors
over 55mm thick, and also an offset housing kit.
