WELCOME
Thank you for attending our fifth annual Gala and Auction this
Saturday, October 24, 2015. Our event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the
first silent wave closing at 6 p.m.
Our theme is “Back to the Future of Flight,” with the famous line
“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” Be ready for
a fun evening with our featured Seahawk themed 747-8F airplane
from The Boeing Company and a special DeLorean, Mr. Fusion and
a hoverboard.
The culture of our nonprofit is to operate with a lean staff, an
amazing team of volunteers, and a dedicated Board of Directors
to leverage our funding expressly for our mission. We have been
actively partnering with schools and nonprofits to accomplish our
mission;
“We inspire lifelong learning and innovation in science,
technology, engineering and math through engaging
exhibits and programs.”
We are proud of our Gala and Auction event, notably, that the
majority of the silent and live auction items were donated, procured
by volunteers, Board, and staff. As you read through the evening
catalog, peruse our 80+ silent auction and 30+ live auction items.
Special thanks to our local business community for donating over
$30,000 in items.
For this evening’s event, many people came together to give
their time and talent. This is our evening catalog (designed by a
volunteer), which will help you and your guests prepare for a funfilled evening. Two talented volunteers also designed the postcard
and invitation. Our dedicated steering committee met every month
since May to help ensure a successful event.
Your participation in our Gala and Auction event will assure that
hundreds of students in Snohomish, King and Island counties as well
as across the state of Washington will have access to our aerospace
related programs and services.
With great appreciation and humility we thank each and every
person who helped make this evening a success.
On behalf of the students we inspire,
Louise Stanton-Masten, Board President Bonnie Hilory,
Executive Director

WITH OUR THANKS...
We are fortunate to have strong volunteer leadership and a
Board of Directors that believes in our mission and is willing
to work hard and achieve our goals. On behalf of our Board
of Directors, staff, and volunteers, we want to give special
thanks to our Sponsors and Table Hosts, and a special thanks
to Bob and Laurie Jacobsen for sharing their DeLorean with
our guests, and The Boeing Company for providing the special
airplane. We are very fortunate to have four-time James Beard
Award nominee Chef Kaspar Donier this evening of Kaspars
Special Events & Catering who provided an incredible catering
experience. To our in-kind donors (silent and live items), TAB
members, and volunteers, thank you for helping make this
evening possible. On behalf of the schools and nonprofits with
thousands of students we serve statewide, thank you for taking
inspiring young people with aerospace career exploration
through our Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math
(STEAM) related program offerings.

WEEKEND FAMILY
WORKSHOPS
The fun and informative programs
presented during our Weekend Family
Workshops have added a significant
component for hundreds of visitors,
providing a unique connection with
flight and the science of aviation.
The five initial themes have been
combined into one versatile yet
comprehensive workshop. Specific
topics will be identified and explored
on the day of the program, with a
constant emphasis on the basic science
that makes flight possible, the power
and educational value of organic flight,
and a sense that aviation technology is
continuing to evolve.
Workshops are free with Gallery or
Tour admission, and free for members.
Workshops are scheduled for every
Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to
11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:00
p.m. For more information, please call
Gus Posey at 425 438-8100 x231.
FAMILY ZONE
For those visitors who don’t quite meet the
height requirement for the Factory Tour, our
Aviation Gallery offers the Family Zone, a
place for children and families to explore. In
addition to a compelling kid-sized airport
model, the Family Zone offers an interactive
Design-a-Plane exhibit, a nanotechnology-themed
exhibit from the Nanoscale Informal Science
Education (NISE) Network, and a Bernoulli
Table, where visitors can experiment with the
acceleration of air and how it affects lift.

THE FUN OF CAMP, THE POWER OF AMP.
The Aerospace Maker Project (AMP) is an experimental program
developed by the Future of Flight Foundation in conjunction with the
University of Washington and the National Science Foundation. AMP
exposes participants to new tools for 3D modeling and 3D printing,
allowing them to examine the ways these devices have revolutionized
manufacturing.
With this philosophy in mind, the Future of Flight Foundation is proud to
offer five extraordinary summer camp sessions. Small group sizes mean
reservations are limited, so please call or book online starting February
4th. We look forward to exploring with you.
Science Camp: This session is devoted to exploring the natural flight of
birds and insects, weather and the effects of climate change, and how
aviation and ecology intersect.
Technology Camp: For those interested in drones, robotics, 3D-modeling
and printing, this is your ideal session.
Engineering Camp: This is a session devoted to solving problems and
providing solutions to a wide range of challenges.
Art Camp: In the hopes that we can address all types of brains, Week
4 is devoted to more creative pursuits, using a wide range of media.
Math Camp: For a more rigorous mental workout, our Math Camp will
focus on the ways numbers work, especially in terms of programming,
computer-assisted design, and the engineering of successful flying
machines.

What people are saying...
Visitor from Seattle:
” …There’s also a small science section that both kids
and adults can enjoy. Each exhibit was highly interactive
and a great learning experience. Again, these facilities
looked all well kept and clean. I have to hand it to the
management, they’ve done a great job maintaining the
facility and organizing a large group of people in their
tours.”
“Been around the world 2-1/2 times – nothing, nothing was
better than this visit.”

HEADS OR TAILS
The winner of heads or tails wins 50% of the proceeds
collected from the participation fee, up to $1,150, to bid
toward any live auction item.
Participation fee is only $10. Please raise your bid card when
asked by the auctioneer if you do not want to participate in
the Heads or Tails game.
Playing the Game
1. Early during your Live Auction, the auctioneer explains the rules.
2. To start the game, the auctioneer asks all participants to stand up.
3. The auctioneer asks participants to: “Place her/his hand on your head (for
heads) or on your bottom (for tails).” Every participant chooses by placing
her/his hand on her/his head or tail.
4. The auctioneer flips a coin. If it lands on heads, then all those with their
hands on their heads remain standing. Those with their hands on their
bums sit down (or vice versa if the coin lands on tails).
5. The auctioneer announces again, “Choose heads or tails,” and the
remaining participants again choose.
6. The auctioneer flips the coin again. Those who chose incorrectly sit down.
7. This continues until one person remains standing. That person is the winner!
