Please be sure to read these instructions first so that you may use the product correctly. Also, please store the instructions for future reference as needed. For ages 15 and up Joint developer’s profile —HOMESTAR Series— The HOMESTAR Series was developed jointly with Takayuki Ohira, creator of the “MEGASTAR-II-Cosmos” recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most advanced planetarium. With it, you can enjoy a highly realistic star-filled sky in your own home. The night sky nowadays is increasingly bright especially in large cities due to reasons such as overuse of neon signs and night lighting, creating “light pollution” that makes stars difficult to view. The HOMESTAR Series was developed in the hope that as many people as possible will be able to easily enjoy at home the beauty of starry skies that are becoming rare. This product was developed with the intention that it be used to easily enjoy a star-filled sky at home. For that reason, it is not equipped with a planet projection function normally seen in commercial planetariums. If the HOMESTAR Series stimulates your interest in stars and astronomy, we encourage you to visit your local planetarium and go out to see a real star-filled sky for a truly wonderful experience. For your safety Guinness-recognized planetarium creator Takayuki Ohira Takayuki Ohira started building planetariums on his own in elementary school, and he successfully developed a planetarium lens projector while still as student—something never before accomplished by an amateur. In 1998, Ohira unveiled the “MEGASTAR”, which was able to project 1.7 million stars—more than 100 times greater than that of any previous planetarium projector. His “MEGASTAR-II-Cosmos” was registered in the Guinness World Records 2004, and he established Ohira Tech Ltd. in 2005. Ohira has even appeared in a TV commercial for Nescafe coffee. In addition to setting up “MEGASTAR” projectors around Japan, he also blazed new trails for planetariums by collaborating with large-scale events at Expo 2005 Aichi and a major art gallery in Tokyo as well with major performing artists. The world’s first optical home planetarium, the HOMESTAR, Ohira jointly developed with Sega Toys, has proved to be a major hit with more than 550,000 sold worldwide as of March 2012.
