POLICIES
GENERAL WARRANTY
1. All items are stocked in Select Hardwoods. Natural color variation and mineral stains may occur.
2. Defects in material or workmanship must be reported upon receipt and prior to installation! Wood
products must be maintained under stable temperature and humidity conditions to remain under warranty.
Prompt and proper sealing and finishing is essential to maintain wood stability.
3. Replacement requests are subject to Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. inspection and approval.
4. Our liability shall not exceed the replacement cost of our product.
LIMITED WARRANTY
Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. products are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship
for a limited period of 30 days from the date of shipment. If products are found to be defective by manufacturer, they will be exchanged or credited to the customer’s account at his/her option. No merchandise shall be
returned without approval of Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. Manufacturer shall not be responsible for the improper use or misuse of its products and no other warranties or responsibilities for safety or performance are either
expressed or implied. A complete limited 30-day warranty statement is available to consumers in compliance
with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.
NOTE: ALL OF BAIRD BROTHERS SAWMILL, INC. PRODUCTS INCLUDING MOULDINGS, FLOORING,
DOORS, AND STAIR PARTS ARE FOR INTERIOR USE AND INSTALLATION ONLY.
RETURN POLICY
1. Shipping charges are NOT refundable. The customer is responsible for shipping costs when receiving
and returning the item(s). When returning items for credit, we recommend using a service such as FedEx
or UPS so that the package(s) are traceable.
2. Prefinished products, special order items, custom products, and pre-hung door units are NOT returnable.
3. Return of products must be accompanied with a proof of purchase. No damaged, soiled, stained/finished,
cut, or otherwise altered items will be accepted.
4. All returns are subject to a restocking/handling charge of 15%. Goods are NOT returnable after 60 days
from the date of receiving material.
TERMS OF SALE
1. Orders not on account must be paid in full when placed.
2. Special Orders require payment in full and are non-returnable. Please allow 2-3 weeks for completion of
special orders.(Special patterns may be over-run 10%) Additional shipping charges could apply on
special orders.
3. Orders with 10 or more pieces the same length of a product are subject to an additional 15% for that item.
4. No Baird Brothers truck C.O.D. deliveries.
5.Do Not expose finish-grade wood products to rain/snow while loading or unloading. Water spots will show
up after job-site finishing.
6.Do Not subject material to extremely high, low, or fluctuating humidity. Relative humidity of 20 - 60%
is ideal.
7. Wet concrete, plaster, and drywall can transmit moisture to unfinished wood products. These can all cause
swelling, joint separation, twisting, cupping, or warping of wood products.
8.Do Not expose unfinished wood products to excessive heat, dryness, or sudden temperature changes
(such as firing up the furnace). These can all cause twisting, cupping, or warping as well.
9. Non-standard items are not subject to return or cancellation if purchasing and/or production have been initialized.

(small orders 8' and shorter in length)
- FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Ground (business addresses), FedEx
Express Saver, UPS Ground, and UPS 3 Day Select orders
normally ship in 1 to 2 business day. FedEx Overnight, FedEx 2 Day,
UPS Next Day Air, and UPS 2nd Day Air orders will ship the same day if placed before 2:00 p.m. EST.
- Shipping and handling charges are not refundable. All returns
must be in resalable condition.
• BAIRD BROTHERS DELIVERY TRUCK (large orders or material over 8' in length within a
100 mile radius)
- Our driver will not carry material into the house.
- Material will be delivered to the garage only, and our driver must have safe and clear access to back
box truck to the garage for unloading.
- We recommend but do not require anyone to be at the job site to accept material, as long as the
garage is unlocked and accessible. If the garage is locked, please give us the location of a key and/or
lockbox combination so your material is not left outside or returned.
- If the driveway was recently poured then we require someone to be there to carry the material from
the street.
- All material to be returned should be placed in the garage and labeled “Baird Brothers return”. We will
not carry return materials out of the house.
- NO C.O.D. deliveries
• COMMON CARRIER FREIGHT TRUCK (large orders or materials over 8' in length outside of our 100
mile radius)
The following should be considered when receiving a Freight Delivery:
- Truck drivers are subject to a number of regulations, one of which is that they are not required to
give assistance unloading. Please be prepared for this “curbside” delivery, as you are responsible for
unloading the item(s) and placing them in your shop or home.
- Some terminals have other delivery services available, such as lift gate service, for an additional cost.
These services vary from terminal to terminal, so remember to ask the trucking company when they
call to make delivery arrangements. You are responsible for these additional costs.
- SHIPPING DAMAGE: We have great service from the trucking companies we deal with, however, some-

times shipping damage can occur. It is extremely important to inspect and note any damage that might be
suspect on the Bill of Lading (BOL) when signing for the shipment. Damage to the packaging container or
material if it has become exposed should be noted on the form the driver gives you to sign accepting delivery.
These notations will allow us to make a claim for shipping damage on your behalf. Failure to do so makes it
extremely difficult to make a claim. If there is shipping damage and you have noted it on the delivery form, call
us at 1-800-732-1697, and we will help you get the problem resolved.

RESIDENTIAL PREFINISHED PRODUCT
LIMITED WARRANTY
A. WARRANTY AGAINST MANUFACTURING/GRADE DEFECTS
We warrant to the original purchaser of our Prefinished Hardwood Floors purchased after September 1, 2006 against any
defects caused during manufacturing. This warranty includes manufacturing defects caused during milling, grading, staining and
finish coating. Our flooring is manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards, which permit a grade/manufacturing
defect tolerance not to exceed 5%. It is the responsibility of the installer/homeowner to inspect each plank prior to installation to
identify manufacturing or grade defects. Once a board has been installed, it is deemed to have been accepted, and all claims
based on manufacturing or grade defects are waived.
Should an individual board be in question as to grade, manufacture or finish, and if the installer is not able to relocate
it unseen or cut off the defective portion, the installer should not use that board. If he/she does, our liability is limited to
replacement of defective material only in excess of 5% (excluding the cutting allowance).
Natural wood characteristics, such as knots, cracks, color variation, etc. are considered normal grade characteristics and are
not considered defects. Minor variations in plank thickness do occur and are normal between planks, and are not considered
defects.
We do not warrant against minor differences between color samples and the color of installed floors.
B. WARRANTY AGAINST FINISH WEAR-THROUGH
We warrant to the original purchaser of our Prefinished Hardwood Floors that the surface finish UV coated urethane will not
wear through for a full 25 years from the date of purchase, when used under normal residential traffic conditions and use, and as
long as you follow all the preventative and regular maintenance instructions provided with your product.
This warranty does not cover indentations, scratches and naturally occurring wood fiber discoloration. This warranty does not
cover damages caused by spills, accidents, negligence, misuse, abuse, water, sand or other extreme environmental conditions.
Gloss reduction or loss of sheen are not considered wear through and are not covered under the prefinished product warranty. Discoloration due to exposure to sunlight or other environmental conditions is not considered wear through, and is not covered
by our warranty.
This warranty does not cover any damage that results from the accidental or intentional penetration of the finish. Nor does the
warranty cover damage caused by shoes in need of repair, sports equipment, furniture, cleaning equipment, sudden impact by
hard objects, pet claws, use of abrasive cleaners, or abrasion by any object such as sand or pebbles. Scratches that appear after
installation are considered to be normal wear. Sanding or “screening” the finish will void this warranty.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by moisture penetration, flooding, leaky plumbing, overflowed tubs or sinks,
washing machines, dishwashers, or any similar damage.
Caring for your Prefinished Hardwood Floor. Abrasive products, natural or manmade, will damage your floor. Dry mop
your floor regularly to remove loose dirt or before it can scratch your floor. Wipe up spills as quickly as possible. Never wet mop
your hardwood floor. Use non-abrasive cleaners that do not contain oils, waxes or phosphates. Your hardwood dealer or installer
can suggest products available in your local area. Protective pads should be used between the bottom of furniture and the floor.
Entry mats at doorways should be used to catch dirt before being tracked on the floor.
Radiant Heat Systems. Installation over radiant heat will void this warranty.
C. GENERAL INFORMATION
The limited warranties described above apply only to our Prefinished Hardwood Floor products and are given to the original
residential purchaser only. These warranties do not extend to commercial purchasers or commercial uses. These warranties are
not transferable.
TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE: The product must be transported and stored in a dry environment. No exposure to
moisture of any type should be permitted. Do not store on concrete surfaces.
INSTALLATION: This warranty is void if a sub-floor other than 5/8" thick or greater performance rated plywood, or 3/4" thick
or greater performance rated OSB is used. NOFMA approved staples or nails must be used and placed not more than 5" on
center. Prior to installation, the owner/installer must determine that the job site and all sub-surfaces meet all requirements
specified in the installation instructions. Your installer should follow the installation guidelines set forth by N.O.F.M.A. and
the N.W.F.A. These are industry standards and are available by calling 1-800-422-4556. These standards include, but are
not limited to: moisture content must be tested on both the product and subfloor prior to installation. The use of touch-up
pen or filler stick for correction during installation should be accepted as normal procedure. When our Prefinished Hardwood

D. CLAIM PROCEDURE
To file a claim, the original residential purchaser should first contact Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. (“Manufacturer”).
Claims must be filed within the warranty coverage period, and your purchase receipt, verifying date of purchase, and
purchase price will be required. We reserve the right to have our designated representative inspect the floors and remove
samples for technical analysis.

EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES: If any portion of our Prefinished Hardwood Floors should fail with respect to the warranty of
manufacturing/grade defect we will replace the defective boards at our sole cost and expense. If any portion of our Prefinished
Hardwood Floors should fail with respect to the warranty of wear-through, we will, at our sole option, within a reasonable time
of receipt of actual notice and verification of your claim, repair, replace or refinish that only portion of the floor which has failed
to perform consistently within the terms of this limited warranty, with the same product or another product of equal value, or will
refund the purchase price of the affected portion of prefinished product.

INFESTATION: This warranty does not cover damage due to insect infestation after the product has left the factory.
MOULDINGS
Floor is ordered, not less than 5% must be added to the actual square footage needed as allowance for cutting waste. We
disclaim all responsibility for judgment errors and/or for poor installation quality of its product. We will not pay any installation
or labor costs.
THIS IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY TO THE PURCHASER AND SOLE OBLIGATION AND LIABILITY OF THE
MANUFACTURER. MANUFACTURER HEREBY EXCLUDES AND WILL NOT PAY ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL
DAMAGES. MANUFACTURER ASSUMES NO LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,
SO THIS EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
E. WARRANTY DISCLAIMERS AND EXCLUSIONS
PREFINISHED PRODUCT WARRANTIES EXCLUSIONS: OUR LIMITED WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER WEAR
THROUGH RESULTING FROM FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFIC WRITTEN INSPECTION,
INSTALLATION, OR MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, IMPROPER MAINTENANCE, INSUFFICIENT PROTECTION, MISUSE
OR IMPROPER ALTERATIONS OF THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURED PRODUCT, INDENTATIONS, SCRATCHES OR
DAMAGE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, STAINS CAUSED BY MISUSE, ABNORMAL USE, NEGLIGENCE, VACUUM
CLEANERS AND OTHER MECHANICAL CLEANING EQUIPMENT, NEGLIGENCE, FIRE, WATER, LIGHT EXPOSURE,
MOISTURE, EXCESSIVE HEAT OR EXCESSIVE DRYNESS, SHAKE DUE TO ALTERATION OF PRODUCT OR DUE TO
HUMIDITY, EROSION, PEBBLES, SAND, DIRT OR OTHER ABRASIVES, PETS, INSECTS, SPIKED HEEL SHOES, WEATHER
CONDITIONS OR NATURAL DISASTERS. COLOR VARIATIONS, NATURALLY OCCURRING WOOD CHARACTERISTICS,
WATER AND/OR MOISTURE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGE RESULTING FROM BROKEN OR LEAKY

INTERIOR DOOR WARRANTY
1. One year limited warranty on manufacturing defects.
2. Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. responsibility under this warranty is limited to repairing or at our option
replacing any product found to be defective due to manufacturing or material defects.
3. Baird Brothers Sawmill, Inc. liability shall not exceed the replacement cost of our product.
WE WILL NOT PAY FOR LABOR OR FINISHING CHARGES TO REPLACE ANY PRODUCT
THAT IS DEFECTIVE.
4. Natural variations in the wood color or grain pattern are not considered defects.
5. Doors must be sealed all “SIX” sides or any warranty claims will be voided.
6. Alteration of the Door in any way (Cutting the top or sides down) Voids any warranty.
7. Door slabs should be stored flat and sealed as soon as possible.
8. Panel shrinkage is normal and is not a defect.
9. Baird Brothers doors are INTERIOR and should NOT be use in any exterior application.
10. Warpage problems usually are due to the conditions in the home and a heating and cooling season
will eliminate them. If high humidity is present you will need to run a dehumidifier.
11. Warpage of 1/4" or less across any plane is an industry standard and is not considered a defect.
12. We reserve the right to change prices and make design modifications without notice.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
- PRE-HUNG DOUBLE DOORS THAT ARE SHIPPED BY COMMON CARRIER FREIGHT TRUCK
ARE KNOCKED-DOWN
- Any door that is reduced in height or width or reduced in height or width in the field voids all
manufacturers’ warranties regardless of how the finish is applied and cannot be returned for credit.
CARE AND FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
INTERIOR DOORS & PRE-HUNG UNITS
1. Doors must be transported in a clean vehicle and under cover in wet weather. FAILURE TO
COMPLY WILL VOID THE MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY AND THE DOOR CANNOT BE
RETURNED FOR CREDIT.
2. Deliver door(s) to building site after plaster or cement is dry.
3. Handle all doors with clean gloves and equipment.
4. Avoid dragging doors across one another or across other surfaces.
5. Store flat on a level surface in a dry, well-ventilated area; avoid stacking on end. (Door slabs only.)
6. Cover doors to keep clean; allow air circulation.
7. Avoid subjecting doors to abnormal heat, extreme dryness, humid conditions or sudden changes
in climate. They should be conditioned to average prevailing relative humidity of the locality prior to
hanging.
8. If doors are to be stored on the job site for more than a week; the entire door including the top and
bottom edges, must be sealed.
9. Pre-hung doors should be stored standing up, but raised off any concrete floor, cover and seal...
same as above.
10.Surface should be clean and dry. All doors are mill-finished and require finish sanding at job site.
11.Clean doors thoroughly after sanding to remove all dust or foreign material. (Small amounts of
grease or oil can be wiped clean with mineral spirits.)
12.Make sure all surfaces are sealed and finished, including the top, bottom and side edges of stiles
and rails. Incomplete finishing will increase the probability of warpage or twisting.

Hopefully the following information will help you determine which hardwood best
meets your lifestyle. Each specie has unique characteristics, the two most determining of which are hardness and visual appeal or color. The following chart will
give you a hardness measurement. The Janka (or side) hardness test, measures
the force (pounds/square inch) required to embed a .444 inch steel ball to half its
diameter in the wood. These figures are a good indicator of how resistant the wood
is to denting and wear.
