LU C S P E N C E R B I O G R A P H Y o Luc Spencer began his artistic career on keyboards for the Anglo-Saxon pop group Da Capo, signed during the ’90s to the brave label Lithium (Dominique A, Diabologum, Françoise Breut, Bertrand Betsch…). He has remained faithful to the group since its first album (Minor Swing, 1996) to today (2011 Faradays festival in Spain). In 1995, while a fine arts student, his first demo, « Tentative de musique sans rythme » earned him a laudatory article from Arnaud Viviant on the second page of Les Inrockuptibles. ese years, with two fine arts students, he start a band “Fantastic Sam” inspired by alternative rock bands (Pavement, Sonic Youth ...) e adventure will last 4 years and aer some demos, several radio appearances and about fiy concerts in France and USA (NY, Chicago, Denver,one gig at CBGB) the band will end. During the ’00s, in parallel to his professional work as a graphic designer and cultural officer, he composed and increased his collaborations as a pianist and arranger, most notably with singer Bertrand Betsch, whom he accompanied onstage from 2003 to 2009, and with whom he recorded three albums (“Pas de bras, pas de chocolat”, “La Chaleur Humaine”, and “Le temps qu’il faut”). Under the name Luc DS, in 2005 he released his first, self-produced EP “Jangl’Jack”. Between 2005 and 2010, accompanied by Martin Angor, he performed his songs onstage in various places. e 13 tracks of his first album Church on a Hill were recorded between 2010 and 2012. Many active contemporary musicians collaborated on the album, including Martin Angor (ex C++), Hervé LeDorlot (B. Betsch, Dominique Sonic) and Christophe Blanchet (La Blanche, 7Questions)… “Church on a hill” is co-produced and corealized by Gilles Martin (Tuxedomoon, Dominique A, Jil is Lucky…). In 2016 Luc Spencer is currently working on a new album. He performe his songs onstage with the elctric guitarist Skid Vyk. With the violonist Boris Lamérand, he creates “Eleanor”, an educational project around the baroque pop music.
