Hello Again,
What’s new in the news? You will never guess
the importance of our two drumstick, one gizzard,
egg-producing friends. Known as chickens, or
more specifically, hens.
It seems that no arm of the government or no one
less than the Dolgeville Village Attorney Norman
Mastromoro along with the Mayor and his full board,
aided by the village planning board and the Fulton
and Herkimer County Planning boards, are needed to
solve the delicate, possible over powering question —
can residents of the village of Dolgeville own — have 8
chickens — (actually hens — no roosters) on the property they pay taxes for? I guess there is no law
concerning how many chickens these village folk can
have in their freezers. They must have workable beaks
with two drumsticks and be able to speak cluck,
cluck, and agree to stay off village, county and state
roads. Our compliments to the Times daily newspaper
for keeping the public aware of this serious pending
legislation. Tuesday’s front page headline — Dolgeville
Hearing Reconvened on Chicken Law.
I wonder have the members of the village board
considered asking President Obama to voice his
opinion on this local problem as he has several times
before on other local not federal problems.
Not pretending to offer legal advice to the Mayor,
why not follow Mr. Obama’s example when he said
he would bypass Congress and go around by using
executive privilege? If Washington says it’s okay, why
not Dolgeville?
If and when Dolgeville gets their 8 hens per house
and if the St. Johnsville black and yellow chicken
farmer with the two roosters has a problem with
those walking egg factories getting out of their chicken coops, I have a solution, sit in a corner and make
a sound like a turnip and all the chickens, hens and
roosters will come to you.
We received an unsigned letter starting with
“You must have been an English teacher’s worse
nightmare and ending with “Have a good day.” The
unsigned letter caused cold chills along with
memories I have tried not to remember.
I would enjoy meeting the writer as I feel certain
he or she has mastered the Roget’s Thesaurus.
Roget’s Thesaurus is a valuable source of seldom
used words. Words often used by writers who
have a secret desire to impress readers with their
superior vocabulary, which in actuality they do
not possess.
The unsigned letter writer used vitriolic, diatribe
and sophistry — I imagine we were supposed to be
impressed. Maybe I should look in a thesaurus to
find a better common place word than impressed.
Maybe tomorrow. (I ain’t got no time today.) Do you
think the word blarney might fit?
I wonder if the letter writer has ever thought about
contacting Mrs. Clinton. You certainly would be
qualified to write speeches for her using words no
one understands. It’s possible that your writing
might lead some of us to think she is actually more
qualified than she is, but ain’t.
In view of your letter — does that mean I should
not use — ain’t got none — druthers, yup and nope,
and use words that no one without a dictionary can
understand?
Thinking back 65 years ago, your estimate of
my English teacher must have been korect. She
probably passed me on to some other poor
teacher just to get me out of her class.
Thanks for wishing “have a happy day.” I would
suggest to you, do not have a cup of coffee. The
combination of coffee and this Hello Again will
surely cause heartburn. I started with a red pencil
and it got worse. But thanks anyway — please keep
on reading, with experience you will learn to use
common, understood words.
Now that we have chatted about these serious
problems let’s sit on the front porch swing and share
in a gabfest.
Question: Why did George Washington not continue to run for several terms? Could it be he could not
blame all of his mistakes on President Bush?
The Lord’s prayer contains 56 words; Lincoln’s
Gettysburg address 260; the Ten Commandments,
200, the Declaration of Independence, 3,000 and the
Dolgeville Hen Law three years of Board meetings
and a few thousand words. I wonder how many
Mayors and board members will it wear out.
Is the following newsworthy or what would you call
it? According to one of the world’s most popular and
highly respected daily newspapers, the Clinton
Foundation saw a significant increase in donations
this year from fundraisers who also have volunteered
to steer at least $100,000 each to Hillary Clinton’s
presidential campaign.
The Friday, July 31, 2015 W.S.J. stated that one
venture capitalist sent checks to both the Clinton
presidential campaign and the Clinton Foundation.
It was reported he gave between $10 million and $25
million. Do you think this was out of the goodness of
his heart? Some call this newsworthy. I know what I
think and the word worthy does not cloud my thinking.
A family quarrel had blown full bloom. “I wish”,
said the angry wife, “that I had taken my mother’s
advice and not married you.” “Your mother was actually against us getting married?” asked the husband. “Yes she was and said so over and over.” “Lord
forgive me,” said the husband, “How I misjudged that
great woman.”
We love to attend auctions. There are several
advertised in County Folks, the Country Editor, the
Mohawk Valley Original Pennysaver, and Hard Hat
News every issue.
If it seems like I’m in a hurry when rambling by on
the red Spyder, just think what it would be like if you
were sitting on a Spyder. I’m thinken’ you would act
rather fast too. Be sure to wave.
A lady was complaining to one of the church
ushers, “It was too hot, the lights were too dim,
and the Pastor’s message was too long.” “But
Grandmother,” the little girl said, “How can you
expect more for a quarter?”
Attend church on Sunday you will receive more
than you are capable of paying for.
This simple, short prayer works, “Thank you
Heavenly Father.” He will listen and will know you
care.

BRIER - White and brown female Beagle
mix, about 3 years old. Abandoned by her
owner. Good with some dogs. Knows the
"sit" command. Good on leash.
BRUTUS - 6 1/2 year old male Pit Bull.
Found on Route 5s in Canajoharie on July
15th. Knows "sit, shake, lie down". Great on
leash. Sweet personality and that famous
"Pittie" smile!
GAVIN - White and black male American
Bulldog. Found in a culvert on N. Bush
Road, Johnstown. Came to the shelter on
May 30th. Fine with kids.
TYSON - 4 year old brown and white male
Pit Bull, 64 lbs. Found in St. Johnsville in
2013. Knows commands, loves car rides,
swimming and treats. Should be your only
pet in an adult home.
KYLA - Lovely young adult female tiger.
Found on Klock Road, St. Johnsville on
July 28th.
GEORGIA - Very sweet 1 year old female
Tortie. Found with her kittens under a porch
in Fort Plain on May 24, 2015.

• If your car’s windshield or back window fogs over,
try this trick, borrowed from the bathroom: Spread
regular shaving cream over the window and wipe

The snapping surprise

It was a hot, summer
afternoon, and my mother was hanging up a basket of wash when my sister called on her way
home from work. “I’m
here at the bend in the
lane, and there’s something black in the puddle!” she said. “I think it
is a turtle, maybe even a
snapper. Can Daddy and
Nathan come?”
“I’ll tell them, and
they’ll be right down,” responded my mother,
looking excited.
A snapping turtle? I
shivered, and curiously
followed my dad and 11year old brother down the
lane. There, in the puddle, sat the turtle. It was
about 10 inches long including its tail, and tiny
black eyes peered up angrily at us.
My dad reached out a
hand to pick it up at the
back of its shell. Hiss!
Snap! The turtle lunged
at his hand, and he
jerked back quickly.
“That’s definitely a snapping turtle,” he affirmed.
“It’s a pretty lively one,
too!”
“Could you move it to
the side of the lane?”
questioned my sister. “I’d
like to finish driving up
the lane.”
With a few quick jerks
and jumps, my dad managed to get the turtle into
the weeds beside the
lane. I rode up with my
sister, and when we arrived at the house, I burst
in eagerly to give an update. “It is a snapping
turtle,” I told them excitedly, “and it tried to bite
Daddy! Oh look, Nathan
is running down to the
puddle with a bucket and
a stick.”
Soon my dad and
brother returned to the
house, the turtle safely
stowed in the bucket. As I
peered down in the bucket at the sullen turtle, I
recalled some interesting
stories I had heard from
various friends who had
experienced
snapping
turtles. One had bitten a
3/4 inch drill bit off, and
another’s meat was still
twitching in the refrigerator three days after it had
been butchered for soup!
My dad placed a board
over top of the bucket so
the turtle couldn’t crawl
out, and we placed it in
the shade. We decided
not to leave the bucket
with the turtle in the
garage, lest it escape and
make a meal of our 10
new turkey poults.
That evening after supper, I took a few pictures
of the turtle. My dad
looked at them, and said,
“The turtle is pretty muddy. Let’s rinse it off a little
so we will have a nicer
picture to remember it
by.”
So my dad held the
bucket, while my mother
rinsed the turtle off with
the hose, making its shell
glistening and clean. I
took a few more pictures,
and then my dad decided
to let it go.
“Where will you release
it?” I asked.
“I was thinking near
where we found it.”
replied my dad.
“Don’t you think it
could dig some holes under the fence, and maybe
have a few tasty chicken
dinners?” I questioned,
not pleased with the
prospect of having a live
snapping turtle on our
land, especially near my
chickens. “I think you
should let it go far away.”
“This turtle will most
likely try to find a pond
nearby to live in,” my dad
said. “I’m going to let it go
near the bend in the lane
so it can find its own
home.”
“Okay.” I agreed reluctantly. Soon my dad returned from letting the
turtle go, and we haven’t
seen it since. Hopefully it
has found a pond or
creek nearby to make its
home in, for snapping
turtles are interesting,
though I prefer when
they’re not close to people, especially ones with
bare feet.

prepare and store them.

Apricots,
bananas,
cantaloupe, kiwi, mangoes, nectarines, peaches, pears, plantains and
plums continue to ripen
at room temperature after
they’re picked.
To speed their ripening,
put them in a loosely
closed brown paper bag.
Plastic bags don’t work
for ripening. Once fully
ripened, fruits may be
stored in the refrigerator
to lengthen their storage
time. Though the outside
skin of a refrigerated banana will turn dark
brown, the inside will remain light colored.

The Food and Drug Administration advises that
we wash our fresh fruits
and vegetables when
ready to eat rather than

are some tips for washing
fruits and vegetables before use:
Don’t use soap, detergents or bleach solutions.
Make sure your kitchen
sink is clean, or place a
large mixing bowl in the
sink. Add the produce to
the sink and cover with
cold water. (Don’t overcrowd the sink.) Add 1-2
cups of plain white vinegar and soak for 10-15

Insect-inspired boot jacks

Boot jacks are something that all of
us who grew up on a farm have probably used at one time or another. They
are devices that aid in removal of a
person’s boots. The boot jack allows
you to take off your boots without
touching them with your hands. It
could be said that boot jacks are a
“hands free” device, just like the cellphones that are designed so that you
can use them and still keep your
hands on the steering wheel of an au-
tomobile.
I don’t think that driving a vehicle
while talking on a cellphone is a good
idea even if the device is hands-free.
However, the idea of removing your
boots without touching them is a very
good thing indeed. Here’s why: People
associated with the livestock industry
often wear boots. That means that
farm boots are likely to come in
contact with all kinds of stuff, including animal manure. Boots adorned

My son is starting college this year. I want to
sit him down to help him
learn how to set a budget, but he is resisting.
How much should I press
him?
No matter what your
son is majoring in or how
much he ends up earning
during his career, learning how to set and live on
a budget is one of those
critical life lessons that
will impact him for years
— really, decades — to
come. If he doesn’t learn
how to manage his money now, he very well may
regret it later when he
has to deal with the consequences. If you’re going
to insist on anything, insist he at least sit down
with you to talk about it.
It’s not unusual for a
young
person
to
stonewall when a parent
wants to offer guidance.
He is probably feeling
like he is on the brink of
independence and doesn’t want to acknowledge
that he still needs a parent’s helping hand every
once in a while. But this
is important, and worth
putting up with some
teenage sullenness.
There are plenty of resources that can help, if

Caring for
container gardens
by Dr. Leonard Perry, Extension Professor, University of Vermont
Container gardens are
increasingly popular for
several reasons. They’re
an attractive way to add
color to a patio, porch, or
small space. They satisfy
the urge to garden if you
have a green thumb but
have limited space in
which to plant flowers, or
even some edible plants.
Although easy to plant
and to get a more instant
effect, they do need some
care throughout the season to ensure healthy
plants and continual
bloom.
If the container plantings you made in spring
are beginning to look a
little leggy, or the foliage
is yellowing, or they’re
not blooming, don’t despair. These and other
problems are generally
readily fixed. Here’s a list
of common problems —
and the solutions — to
help you get your container gardens back on
the road to recovery:
Problem: You water
regularly, but wilting still
occurs. The probable
cause is poor drainage
and aeration of soil. The
solution is to repot using
a lighter soil mix containing more organic matter.
Or, if that’s not a viable
option, increase the number of drainage holes in
the container.
Another possible cause
is too many plants in the
pot, taking up too much
water. You may need to
repot, removing a few
plants.
When repotting, add a
water absorbing or soil
moistening ingredient.
You can buy these at full
service garden stores.
They are generally pellets
that absorb many times
their weight in water, releasing it and keeping
soils moist. They’re especially useful in clay pots
or coir (coconut husk)
lined baskets that dry out
quickly.
Problem: Plants are
tall and spindly. The
probable cause is too little light, and perhaps too
high nitrogen levels. The
solution is to move the
containers to a location
that receives more sun or
light a day. Stop fertilizing the plants, or decrease the amount.
Problem: Plants have
stopped flowering. There
may be several possible
causes. An end to its
flowering may be natural
for this variety. However,
if you planted annuals,
deadheading (removing
spent flowers) often promotes branching and rebloom.
If the buds don’t open,
the cause could be disease and rots. Dig up a
plant; if roots are brown
and not white, root rots
are likely. Dispose of infected plants and replant
the container with fresh
potting mix. Use one
made for pots, and not
garden soil which usually
has disease organisms
and doesn’t work well in
containers. If tops appear
to have disease, this
could be gray mold (botrytis). Give plenty of air
movement around plants
to help dry leaves off, and
don’t water late in the day
so leaves will be dry over

night.
Too much fertilizer can
cause excess leaf growth
at the expense of flowers,
so fertilize less if the
plant is lush but has no
flowers. On the other
hand, if leaf growth looks
fine and not excessive,
plants may need more
fertilizer. Many of the new
“vegetative”
varieties
(those grown from cuttings and not seeds) need
very high levels of fertility.
Problem: Yellowed foliage, especially the lower
leaves. The probable
cause is too much water
or too little fertilizer. If
leaves yellow from the
bottom of the plant first,
and plants lack vigor, it
often means excess water
in the soil. If leaves are
just generally a bit yellow
overall, this is likely from
too little fertility. The solution would be to water
plants less often if the
soil appears wet, and
make sure the container
has adequate drainage.
In addition to watering
less, fertilize more, espe-

cially if using low nutrition organic sources.
Problem: Edges of
leaves are brittle and dry.
The probable cause is too
much salt present in the
soil, most likely from
overfertilizing. (You might
notice a whitish crust on
the soil surface or pot
edge, another sign of excess salt.) Moving containers quickly from
shade to more sun also
may be the cause. The solution, if from too much
fertilizer, is to water generously — until water
pours out of the drainage
holes — to cleanse the
soil and remove the salt.
Avoid changing locations
and light levels rapidly.
Problem: Leaf spots,
powdery or rusty areas.
Probable causes are low
temperature, inadequate
phosphate, or disease.
Solutions are to move the
container to a warmer location. Apply a fertilizer
containing high phosphate (the middle number of the three in the
analysis), such as a plant

strong, and I belong here
in Doc’s yard.’”

and rub gently with your fingertips for a
few moments. I rinse well using cold water to remove any traces of vinegar.
Scrub firm produce, such as melons
and cucumbers, with a clean produce
brush to remove surface dirt.
Try to cut away damaged or bruised
areas — bacteria can thrive in these
places. To prevent this, thoroughly rinse
fruits that require peeling or cutting —
such as cantaloupe and other melons —
under running water before eating.
After purchase, put produce that
needs refrigeration away promptly.
Fresh produce should be refrigerated
within two hours of peeling or cutting.
Leftover cut produce should be discarded if left at room temperature for more
than two hours.
What is the easiest way to peel and
slice a Mango?
Wash the mango. Cut the mango by sitting it on its bottom and cutting vertically along the flat side of the center seed by
slicing off each fleshy cheek of the mango. Hold one mango half peel side down
and score the fruit down to the peel (but
not through it) in a tic-tac-toe fashion.
Hold the scored portion with both
hands and bend the peel backward so
that the diamond cut cubes are exposed. Cut cubes off peel, then remove
any remaining fruit clinging to the seed.
How can I keep cut fruit from turning brown?
Coat them with an acidic juice such as
lemon, orange or pineapple juice. Cut
fruits as close to serving time as possible.
Cover and refrigerate cut fruit until ready
to serve. Avoid leaving cut fruit at room
temperature for more than two hours.
My recipe for Sweet and Spicy Fruit
Salad uses a variety of your favorite
fruits in a delicious new way.
Sweet and Spicy Fruit Salad
• 1/3 cup stevia, agave syrup or sugar
• 1 serrano chile, halved
• 1 whole dried star anise
• 7-8 cups mixed cut fruit, like kiwi,
peaches, plums, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, pineapple,
oranges, grapefruit, pears or bananas
• 2 teaspoons chopped tarragon
• 2 teaspoons chopped basil
• 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
• 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
• Mascarpone or crumbled ricotta
salata, for garnish (optional)
1. Place sweetener, 3/4 cup water,
chile and star anise in a small pot and
bring to boil. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until mixture is as thick as maple
syrup and spicy tasting. Strain syrup.
(Syrup can be made up to one week in
advance; store in the refrigerator.)
2. Toss fruit with half of sugar syrup,
the tarragon and the basil. Add more
syrup to taste, depending on how sweet
and spicy you want the salad. Season
very lightly with salt and pepper. If desired, add dollops of mascarpone or
crumbled ricotta salata on top.

the no-hands boot jack
comes in.
No one is quite sure
when the first boot jack
came into existence. The
term has existed at least
from the early 1800s. We
don’t even know why it’s
called a jack. There have
been jackboots worn by
the military, and jacks
are lifting devices. Perhaps
some
person
named Jack fashioned
the first one. Sometimes
the device is called a
boot pull, and that is
more descriptive than
“jack.”
These items for removing boots aren’t complicated devices. Some boot
jacks consist of a flat
piece of wood from 10 to
18 inches in length with
a U-shaped opening on
one end and a riser
about 2 inches thick just
behind and on the opposite side of the opening.
If boot jacks came with
directions they would
probably read something
like this: 1. Position boot
jack on the floor riser
side down. 2. Place one
foot on the end nearest
the floor. 3. Insert boot
heel of opposite foot in
U-shaped opening. 4.
Pull foot from the boot.
5. Repeat, reversing location of feet.
Of course, human nature being what it is, we
had to make the design
of a plain old boot jack a
bit fancier. There have
been over 200 boot jacks
patented in the United
States since 1852, most
based on design. When
boot jacks were first cast
from metal new designs
emerged; for instance,
the head of a cow with
the horns used as the Ushape to catch the heel
of the boot. In like fashion, the antennae of a
snail would also work.
So do the antennae of insects.
One of the first examples of a cast boot jack is
in the shape of an insect.
In addition to the antennae, the device included
eyes and the appropriate
six legs. The legs were
used as the risers on the
device. The type of insect
depicted in antique boot
jacks is not clear, at least
if descriptions of such
devices is any indication.
I have seen these insectstyle boot jacks described as beetles, cicadas or crickets.
As an entomologist, I
must say that most of
the cast metal boot jacks
I have seen that are purported to be insects look
like beetles to me. The
reason is that all have a
straight line down the
back. That line is typical
of beetles at rest. Beetles
have hardened forewings
called elytra that meet in
such a line when the
wings are closed.
Some boot jacks are
even called scarab beetles. This is appropriate
because scarab beetles
are known for rolling
balls of animal manure
around. After all, the real
reason for a boot jack is
to be able to remove
boots without having to
get your hands dirty
from the manure that
might be on the boots.
It really doesn’t make
sense to fuss over the exact type of insect depicted in a boot jack. Maybe
we
should
consider
whether the use of the
term “boot” in this device
is appropriate. I recently
saw an advertisement
showing a picture of a
boot jack and a human
foot with a sneaker. I
suppose using a scarab
beetle sneaker jack is a
sign of the times!

by the bite of a deer tick.
You can reduce the likelihood of a tick bite by taking steps to protect yourself if you live in or visit
areas with Lyme Disease
activity.
In tick infested areas,
your best protection is to
avoid contact with soil,
leaf litter and vegetation.
However, if you garden,
hike, camp, hunt, work
or otherwise spend time
in the outdoors, you can
still protect yourself:
• Wear light colored
clothing with a tight
weave to spot ticks easily;
• Wear enclosed shoes,
long pants and a long
sleeved shirt. Tuck pant
legs into socks or boots
and shirt into pants;
• Check clothes and
any exposed skin frequently for ticks while
outdoors;
• Avoid sitting directly
on the ground or on
stonewalls;
• Keep long hair tied
back, especially when
gardening;
• Bathe or shower as
soon as possible after going indoors (preferably
within two hours) to wash
off and more easily find
ticks that may be on you;
and
• Do a final, full body
tick check at the end of
the day (also check children and pets), and remove ticks promptly.
Anyone who has been
bitten by a tick should be
watched closely for at
least 30 days. Typical
symptoms of Lyme disease
include:
fever,
headache, fatigue, and a
large, expanding skin
rash that may have a
bull’s eye appearance. If
left untreated, infection
can spread to joints, the
heart and the nervous
system. Anyone who develops a fever or a rash
after being bitten by a
tick or spending time in
tick infested areas should

A: “The Joy of Cooking” is one of the most
famous and significant
cookbooks ever published in this country.
Irma S. Rombauer had
no cooking experience,
but after the death of her
husband in 1930 she decided to self-publish a
collection of recipes.
That edition was illustrated by her daughter,
Marion, who later became her writing partner. Now for the tasty
part. Your cookbook
could be worth $3,000 or
more, according to cookbook experts Patricia Edwards and Peter Peckham. Since the 1931 edition
was
published
mostly for family, friends
and neighbors, the more
popular hardback edition did not appear until
1936. It sells in the
$150-$300 range in good
condition. The one I use
in my kitchen is the
1943 edition, which contains sugarless recipes
prompted by the rationing of World War II. It
is my favorite cookbook.

set of flatware in the

M. Whiting and Company, which began in Attleboro, MA, in 1878 when
it was known as Holbrook, Whiting & Albee.
According to “Sterling

by Mark F. Moran, the
company became part of
Ellmore Silver Company
in about 1940, and then
went out of business
about two decades later.
The Whiting dies were
then acquired by the
Crown Silver Company.

Eight ways you can prevent a summer tragedy
(NAPSA) — Here’s an important fact
for anyone who ever drives with children: When it’s hot outside — and
sometimes even when it’s not so hot —
the temperature inside a parked car can
rise to fatal heatstroke levels within
minutes, even if the windows are partially open.
The Problem
It’s heartbreaking and it can happen
even to the best of parents. In fact,
dozens of children will die in hot parked
cars this year because a busy parent or
caregiver forgot them or mistakenly
thought the child was with someone
else. In other cases, unattended children die of heatstroke after gaining access to cars that were left unlocked.
What To Do
To help prevent a tragedy, the experts
at the International Parking Institute,
the largest association of parking professionals, offer this safety advice:
1. Never leave your child in a parked
car. Never. Not even for a minute.
2. Call 9-1-1 if you see a child alone
in a car. Every minute counts.
3. Never leave your car without checking the backseat. Put your wallet or
phone in back as a reminder. If your
child is still in a car seat, put a stuffed
toy on it when you take the child out.
When the safety seat is occupied, keep
the toy up front as a visual reminder.
You may also want to get into the habit
of always opening the back door of your
car when you park it, before you lock
up.
4. Arrange for your child care provider
to call if your child doesn’t arrive on
time.
5. If your child is missing, check the
car and trunk of the car immediately. If
you — or the neighbors — have a pool,
check that, too.
6. Always lock your car, even in the
garage or driveway.
7. Teach your children that vehicles
are never to be used as play areas.
8. Keep car keys and remote control
devices where children can’t get them.

Before you and your pet hit the road, make sure
your vehicle is both pet ready and road ready.
The non-profit Car
Care Council suggests
the following tips for drivers planning a road trip
with the family pet so
that all passengers can
remain comfortable in the
close quarters of a vehicle
interior.
“Before you and your
pet hit the road, make
sure your vehicle is both
pet ready and road
ready,” said Rich White,
executive director, Car
Care Council. “Take steps
to keep your pet safe and
conduct a pre-trip vehicle
inspection, so you can
have an enjoyable, lowstress trip with your pet
in tow.”
According to the Humane Society, keep your
pets in the backseat. The
safest way for a dog to
travel in the car is in a
crate that has been anchored to the vehicle using a seatbelt or other secure means. Cats should
remain in carriers. Never
transport a pet in the
back of an open pickup
truck and make plenty of
rest stop breaks.
Be sure to check your
vehicle’s air conditioning
(A/C) system before embarking on summer road
trips. Driving with your
windows closed and the
A/C on will keep all passengers comfortable and
protect your pet from
sticking its head out the
window. Do not leave pets
unattended in the car,
even with the windows
slightly open, as inside
temperatures soar and
will endanger your pet.
Cleaning your vehicle’s
interior will make for
more comfortable travel
with your pet. Heavy duty
floor liners, water proof
car seat covers and water
repellent fabric or leather
solutions will help protect
your vehicle from pet
hair, odors and other
messes. Keep a kit in the
trunk for on-the-spot
