Saturday Open MorningDiary Date
We are holding an Open Morning for
prospective parents on Saturday 14th March
between 10.00am and12.00 noon and are
planning to have a wide range of activities
on show. We would appreciate having a
number of pupils here for the morning.
Most of the Year 7 and 8 pupils will be
needed to help out with tours. Volunteer
pupils from younger age groups will be
taking part in a variety of activities helping
to show all that Yateley Manor has to offer.
This is also an ideal opportunity for those
of you who would like a couple of peaceful
hours on a Saturday morning to have the
children entertained!
Children who have been cast in the Prep
play, Pirates of the The Curry Bean, will
also be needed for the Technical Rehearsal
which is scheduled for that morning.
A letter will been sent home by email in a
couple of weeks but please put the date
in your diary. We look forward to lots of
support from our pupils. Many thanks.

Internal Basketball
Year 8 31 Year 7 19
The Year 8s won this battle but the standard of basketball on display was high. With the
IAPS National Championships coming up this game was a trial for selection for the squad.
Many players did well and did their chances no harm at all!
The Year 8 team had a big height advantage, passed and moved the ball quicker and in
the second half pulled away to win by 12. Well played everyone. Top scorers were Wil
Geeves and Luke Jones (6 each) for Year 7 and Lewis Morrison (12) for Year 8.

Girl of the Match
Please note that from next week the girl of the match will be chosed by the team coach
rather than by the team.
Successful Latin Reading Competition
On the afternoon of Thursday 22nd January, ten very excited Yateley Manor children arrived at Guildford High School. They had been
rehearsing for weeks, and were looking forward to performing at last. The Guildford Classical Association Latin and Greek Reading
Competition is a huge competition, with this year over 100 children from a dozen schools competing, and the standard is always very
high.
Our children all performed superbly. First seven Year 6 children (Constance Bole, Frances Fogarty, Lucy Hunt, Olivia James, Alex
Emery, James Hannaby and James Roberts) performed two versions of Auricoma (Goldilocks). The children pronounced their words
accurately and acted brilliantly, but faced strong competition from a group from Notre Dame School. The next two classes were very
large, and the competition was fierce, with entries from a number of top secondary schools. Holly Davies and James Roberts acted a
conversation between two slaves. Grumio, the cook, has schemed to get some money to treat his girlfriend Poppaea, but has lost it in
a fight, while Clemens has been rewarded by his master for his loyalty, and is now about to take Poppaea out. Grumio is not pleased!
Xavier Norton-Edwards and Niam Patel were acting the part of two Roman soldiers, Modestus and Strythio. Modestus is extremely
proud of his bravery and good looks, but too stupid to notice when his friend, Strythio makes fun of him. Strythio tells Modestus of
a local girl, Vilbia, who has fallen for his good looks
and can’t wait to get to know him better. Modestus
pretends to be bored with the attentions of all the
women who fall for him, but is secretly flattered and
can’t wait to meet her. Our competitors in both these
classes were pitting themselves against rather older
entrants from secondary schools, but performed very
well and only just missed out on being in the final.
The children then had a lovely tea, and a long wait
to hear the results of the competition. Our two
groups acting Auricoma (Goldilocks) were placed first
and second, with only one mark between the two
performances.
Thank you to Mrs Kingcombe for accompanying the
children and giving them her moral and practical
support on the afternoon. Thank you, too, to parents
who came to support.
French Cookery
Year 5 and Year 6 were in the cookery room this week during their French lessons baking Madeleines and Sablés in French!
Fleet Cricket Club
Fleet Cricket Club would like to recruit new members, particularly girls and boys in Years 3 and 4, for the forthcoming cricket season
which is starting with pre-season indoor training session son Saturday afternoons. No experience is necessary.

Triangular Netball v Lambrook and St Neot’s
U13A drew 5 – 5 v Lambrook won 7 – 4 v St Neot’s
Both games were close as the three teams were evenly matched. The girls played really well together as a team and were very
enthusiastic and energetic. This occasionally led to a few crazy passes, but despite those and very cold hands they played some lovely
netball. Well done girls. Izzy Harper and Anna McFall were named girls of the match.
Team: Sophie Allison, Francesca Courtney, Izzy Harper, Anna McFall, Phoebe Moore, Ella Haffey, Emily Treacher
U13B lost 2 – 4 v Lambrook drew 0 – 0 v St Neot’s
The girls’ first match against St Neot’s was very even. We did have more shooting opportunities but were unfortunately unable to
convert. Annabella Thurston and Alice Sullivan played really well keeping the ball flowing down the court and the girls played well
to hang on to the draw; a fair result. Lucy Tickle was named player of the match.
The match against Lambrook was harder as they had a couple of really tall players who made several interceptions. As last week,
when under pressure, the girls dug deep and never gave up. Yasmin Owadally had a great game in defence in both matches and was
named player of the match by Lambrook.
Team: Francesca Oades, Lucy Tickle, Anna Sloan, Alice Sullivan, Annabella Thurston, Yasmin Owadally, Abooh Agyekum,
Sophie Allison
U11A won 13 – 5 v Lambrook won 17 – 0 v St Neot’s
This was a superb performance from the U11As. Against Lambrook, the girls attacked from the start, took an early lead and capitalised
on this, working the ball out from defence well and keeping control of the ball on the centre pass. Anna Thomas was on superb
form with her shooting and scored from everywhere in the circle. A great win and a great team performance. Girl of the match was
Madison Aumonier.
As with the first match the U11A took the game to St Neot’s from the start. They dominated possession and were impenetrable in
defence with Jenna Davis, Amy Hodgkiss and Ela Singh denying St Neot’s any shooting opportunities. Centre plays continued to be
effective and we ran away with the game in the second half. Another great display. Girl of the match was Amelia Courtney.
Team: Anna Thomas, Madison Aumonier, Millie Young, Amelia Courtney, Ela Singh, Amy Hodgkiss, Jenna Davis, Caitlin O’Toole
U11B lost 0 – 1 v Lambrook won 5 – 2 v St Neot’s
The Lambrook match was a very even game as is evident from the scoreline. The ball was end
to end with both defences ensuring that there were few good shooting opportunities. Our
girls played with determination and quickly settled into an effective pattern of play. The only
goal of the match came in the final two minutes. An excellent result girls against a well drilled
side.
The girls took all the positives from their first match and looked strong from the whistle.
Georgia Fraser Steadman and Olivia James took good advantage of their shooting
opportunities and we dominated the mid court with plenty of well-judged interceptions and
good movement of the ball. Katherine Cairney and Moore Kazhdan worked hard in defence
and by half time we were 4 - 0 up. St Neot’s took advantage of a short loss of concentration to
score two goals but, overall, a good team effort with plenty of great individual skills. Girl of the
match was Simone Barkatullah.
Team: Georgia Fraser Steadman, Olivia James, Dibra Thapa Magar, Leah Jennings,
Simone Barkatullah, Constance Bole, Katherine Cairney, Moore Kazhdan
U11C lost 1 - 18
The girls should be congratulated on not giving up during the whole of this match. Lambrook were a strong team but Yateley Manor
gave their all to try and gain repossession of the ball. Well done girls for trying so hard. Players of the match: Maddy Hall and Frances
Fogarty.
Team: Madeleine Eldridge-Head, Jodie Saunders, Katie Hall, Lucy Hunt, Maddy Hall, Frances Fogarty, Holly Davies, Amelia Lees
U10A lost 1 – 7 v Lambrook won 8 – 3 v St Neot’s
The U10A dominated the game against St Neot’s working well together and making superb passes down the court. Our shooters
passed the ball superbly into the circle. St Neot’s, however, found it difficult to get the ball anywhere near their shooting circle thanks
to Skye-Abigail Louw who was outstanding. A great team effort by all. Well done!
The cold definitely hit the girls in their second match and although they fought hard in defence they just couldn’t keep the goal attack
at bay. Amelia Shaw played very well as wing attack, passed some great balls into the shooters and was the coaches’ girl of the match.
Danielle Olugbile was named player for the match for both games.
Team: Mia Blogg, Danielle Olugbile, Amelia Shaw, April Ellis, Sarah Findell, Skye-Abigail Louw, Aimée Howell, Ella Cox
Match reports for U10B and U10C are page 8
Rugby v Lambrook
1st XV lost 5 - 57
Yateley Manor were beaten by a stronger side that played well from start to finish. Our boys started slowly and never really got into the
game. We move forward next week with a game that is a must win to put the season back on track. TM
Team: Freddie Francsics, Ollie Kirkpatrick, William Partridge, Edward Nye, Harry Young, William Smith, Toby Davis, Jontie
Sebborn, George Guy, Kai Corbett, Lewis Morrison, Wil Geeves, Luke Jones, William Banham, William Russell
2nd X won 58 - 26
The seconds played well away at Lambrook this week with another convincing victory. Jonathan Noble led the team well and there
was plenty of excellent running and tackling. Will Calder and Jarryd Ramkissoon scored three tries each and Swapneel Mirani and
Harry Foster scored two tries each. Conversions came from Harry, Ben Day and Sam Lalondrelle. Men of the match were Will and
Jarryd. Well done boys! NM
Team: Jonathan Noble, Ben Perryman, Sam Lalondrelle, Will Calder, Harry Foster, Ben Day, Tom Adams, Swapneel Mirani,
Jarryd Ramkissoon, Xavier Norton-Edwards
U11A lost 14 - 56
The U11A came up against a bigger and well drilled Lambrook side. The game appeared much closer than the scoreline suggested
as both teams played some good rugby. Our tackling and rucking really let us down as we just could not get our hands on the ball.
We ended having only had four periods of possession and scored two tries from that. Well done to Tom Dexter for the tries and
conversions. Lambrook ended up being too strong in the end and ran away with the game. HE
Team: Ross Mackenzie, Tobias Chapman, Wilf Brooks, George Thompson, Hugo van Delsen, Joe Sheldon, Tom Dexter, Sam
Hawes, Joseph Davison-Poltock, Matthew Heppner, Harrison Smith, Oliver Banham
U11B lost 0 - 35
The boys tried hard against a very good team. Max Bremner, James Ross and Benjamin Wells all tackled well but we were outplayed.
KC
Team: Krishal Maru, James Cox, James Hannaby, Joshua Highett, Liam Samut, James Roberts, Max Bremner, Sam Baird,
Benjamin Wells, James Ross, Owen Gauntlett, Alex Yates, Finlay Cherry
U10A drew 5 - 5
The U10A boys maintained their unbeaten record with another gutsy draw. Despite going a try down just before half time, the boys
continued to press forward and this pressure was rewarded just before the final whistle as Charlie Curran finished a good passing
move in the corner. Perhaps the most pleasing thing about the game was the sporting behaviour of the Yateley Manor boys. JH
Team: Harvey Rice, Josh Benton, Jonathan McFall, James Newton, Connor Dyason, Ethan Moss, Ollie Johnson, Finlay Harriss,
Charlie Curran, Edward Webb
U10B lost 10 – 55
The boys finished this match heads high, buzzing with the thrill of a hard game knowing they had done their best! Lambrook were an
extremely well drilled side utilising every opportunity. Yateley Manor were dominant when rucking, but not quite quick enough to use
the ball to their advantage against Lambrook’s pressing back line. A fast paced game ensured everyone was 100% involved and the
team were rewarded just before half time with a try from Callum Brown. Captain Jack Partridge led from the front making good
ground for Yateley Manor including a fantastic run from the half way line to score our second try. Well done team! KJ
Team: Callum Brown, Joseph Simmons, Jack Partridge, Lewis Main, Sam MacRobbie, Peter Washer, Connor Plummer-Colom,
Brandon Tan, Gavin Simpson.
U10C lost 15 – 25
This was a close match with Lambrook scoring a couple of late tries to give them victory. Joe Cooper, Yaseen Subhan and Mateo
Johnson-Rodriguez each scored a try.
Team: Aimery Afful Acheampong, Sam Ballentine, Karan Padda, Alex Charles, Dev Atara, Matty Knowles, Ben Ellerington,
Yaseen Subhan, Mateo Johnson-Rodriguez, Sam Rowe, Joe Cooper

Netball v Lambrook
U10B V Lambrook lost 3 - 15
Our girls fought hard on this very chilly afternoon. Our shooters scored some great goals when they received the ball and the defence
worked hard to keep the ball from the opposition. Our target for the next match is to get the ball out of our defensive end quicker.
Unlucky girls! Adila Owadally was named player of the match.
