2014 Fall
As we head into fall after a
fantastic summer here at the
KVPD, I want to thank the
entire community for the
support we receive. From people
that purchase a boat slip to the
softball players out at the
Centrue Bank Sports Complex
and let’s not forget the folks that
take our trips and of course our sponsors. So much has been
accomplished because of you!!! For that I am grateful.
As the many trees change their attire for the event that is our
spectacular fall along the Kankakee River, take time to admire the
beauty that this region has to offer.
The Ice Valley Centre Ice Arena is opening and yet another
season on the ice will commence. The Ice Valley Centre Ice
Arena is in its ninth year here in Kankakee, and hosts the junior
leagues called the Coyotes and the Irish. There are figure skating
classes as well as Club SK8 on Fridays.
We also have our new RecCenter at 150 N. Indiana Ave., in
downtown Kankakee. If you have not stopped by, feel free.
One of our staff can show you around and give a brochure that
explains open gym times and all that this facility has to offer.
If you would like to receive this brochure Free three times a
year, please call our main office at 815-939-1311 and leave
your name and address OR go to our website and click on the
“contact” tab and fill out the online form and leave your address
under comments.

Off Ice Boot Camp
Oorah! Did you know off ice classes provide skaters the
opportunity to improve upon additional aspects of skating:
strength/core training and body awareness? The benefits of
participating in an off-ice program are far reaching. Figure
skating is a sport that puts significant strength and flexibility
demands on the body. The core strength and plyometric
strength requirements of the sport are significant. By completing an off-ice training program, skaters will progress their on-ice
skills at a faster pace and be able to handle the strength demands
of jumping, spinning, and longer programs. Gym shoes, water
bottle and towel are required for each class.
