Stellar soprano, Jenn Gambatese, joins ESO after her debut with the Lyric Opera in 2014 as “Maria” in The Sound of Music. Brahms & Ives: No Limits March 12, 2016 7:30 pm Hemmens Cultural Center March 13, 2016 2:30 pm Hemmens Cultural Center Andrew Grams, conductor Alexander Schimpf, piano Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major Ives Symphony No. 2 Alexander Schimpf’s incredible technique and emotional depth show no limit in Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2. The ESO also performs Ives, who was known for breaking musical boundaries. However, this symphony stays within the classical music limits … mostly. Season Finale: Bernstein & Mahler April 30, 2016 7:30 pm Hemmens Cultural Center May 1, 2016 2:30 pm Hemmens Cultural Center Andrew Grams, conductor TBD, soprano Bernstein Symphony No. 1 “Jeremiah” Mahler Symphony No. 4 This season closes with works by two titans: Bernstein and Mahler! Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1 retells the story of Jeremiah the Prophet with musical anguish and ancient Hebrew text. The Mahler ends with the vision of a child’s description of Heaven — leaving you with a feeling of peace and tranquility.
