Romans 1:16-17
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also
for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of
God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’ ”
The letter F represents two words that
will either allow you to be totally victorious in your daily walk or totally defeated,
and that is Faith and Fear. God not only
teaches us in his word that the ultimate life
style is a life of faith but He also warns us
of fear, the most deadly enemy to our faith.
First of all, this most precious commodity
that we call faith is a gift from God with
such a price tag that there is no earthly
currency valuable enough to purchase it. It
can only be received as a gift and all recipients must enter through the same door.
Romans 12:3 reads, “ For I say, through the
grace given to me, to everyone who is
among you, not to think of himself more
highly than he ought to think, but to
think soberly, as God has dealt to each
one a measure of faith.” Our stewardship over the faith that God has given
us will determine the level of victory
that we walk in. If you are experiencing defeat in your life, I suggest that
you consider an alternate approach
to what you are SAYING and doing.
The words that you speak over any
situation will be the determining factor of its outcome. In Proverbs 18:21,
we see that “Death and life are in the
power of the tongue, and those who love
it will eat its fruit”.
The faith that God has dealt to us
must be cultivated by speaking God’s
word. The Bible says in Romans 10:17
that faith comes by hearing and hear-

ing by the word of God. The greater our
exposure to the word of God the greater
our confidence will be in what He says.
This process must continue until the only
thing that we should be saying about ourselves is whatever the Word says. Now,
God has made it very clear that the words
out of His mouth are never unproductive.
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My
mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it
shall accomplish what I please, And it shall
prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” In
developing a lifestyle of faith, our commitment and love for Jesus must be first priority which will be apparent in your prayer
life and commitment to the Word. If you
allow the things of the world to dominate
your life, you will not attain the victory of
faith. It is the power in God’s word that
will develop you to walk in victory which is
a process. Learn to trust the Word beyond what you see or feel, for this is exactly what Abraham did when he did not
waver at the promise of God through unbelief though he was a hundred years old
for he had been promised by God that he
would have a son. This man would not
look at the circumstances but considered only
what God had said. This is what I want us to
see. We must learn to consider only what God
say about us and let that be our words. If Jesus
says He will never leave us-then say the same
and believe it. If Jesus says you are healed ,
then say the same and believe it. If Jesus says
you are complete in Him, then you say the
same and believe it. Start practicing these faith
principles and don’t allow fear and circumstances to stop you. Fear is the key enemy to
your faith. The faith that you received is always
there, but it is fear that comes in through circumstances to disable your faith through unbelief. Notice the case with the synagogue ruler
Jairus , in the fifth chapter of Mark ,who came
to Jesus about healing his daughter. Jesus went
with him but listen to what Jesus said when bad
news came that she was dead, As soon as Jesus
heard the word that was spoken, He said to the
ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe” (Mark 5:36). Always be mindful not to
allow fear to come in and disable your faith.
The way that you do that is by verbalizing
God’s word until the Word dominates over
the fear. In this way, faith will have the victory
and the ultimate lifestyle will be yours.

Darnell Denzell Williams

1Timothy 6:12 says to “Fight the good
fight of faith….” and as a God-fearing
young
man who has had the courage to face
and overcome challenges, Darnell
Denzel Williams is a fighter like none
other. For the past four years, Darnell
has been living on his own. His family is
in Chicago, but he chose to move back
to New Jersey and attend Rutgers University. Darnell recalls, “I wanted to
struggle and find out for myself what it
was all about.” The struggle is some-
times really difficult. His biggest challenges are financial. Along with scholarships, loans, and the profits from
the sale of his first book A Covert
Peace, Darnell earns money as a substitute teacher in the Manchester elementary schools. Still, there were
times when he had to choose between paying rent or buying food. At
one point, he was unable to afford
campus housing and relied on the
generosity of friends who let him
sleep on the couch. “As I bounced

from couch to couch and wondered
where life would take me, I learned
this important lesson: Two things define a man; his patience when he has
nothing and his attitude when he has
everything. I was humbled by this experience in my life.”
Darnell’s passion is teaching children.
He feels his strongest influence is with
middle school students. After graduation, he hopes to secure a full time job
teaching in the Ridgeway School in
Manchester. “That would be a dream
come true.” Meanwhile he enjoys
working as a substitute teacher. “I give
each child a nickname. I teach them
the importance of hanging around
successful people and having a vision.”
He was able to see the effect of his influence one day as he was getting out
of his car in a parking lot and he heard
a little girl excitedly shouting,
“Mommy, it’s Mr. Williams!” The child
ran over to hug him and then ran
back to the car to retrieve her little
purse. From it, she pulled a letter he
had written to her while he was in her
class saying, “Yes, you can” and told
him all about getting a new belt in karate. “I was overwhelmed with great
joy that my teaching could inspire so
profoundly. We have the ability to
positively affect children with love and
hope for the future.”
When he is not subbing, Darnell
uses the gifts God has blessed him
with to encourage and connect with
others through motivational speaking,
writing, and teaching. As a motivational speaker, Darnell finds it
“profound to see that spark in some-
one’s eyes when you give them the boost
they need to continue to push forward
with life.” An accomplished author of two
books, “The Covert Peace” and more recently, “One in a Million,” Darnell wants
those reading his books to ultimately receive the message of self-confidence and
love.
As an active member of Harmony
Ministries, Darnell, a graduate of the
Christian Training Program, teaches Vacation Bible School, and Sunday school.
Some of the people who have been exceptional role models for Darnell at Harmony are Mrs. Debbie Peniston, Mr. John
Griffith, and Pastor Dennis. Darnell says,
“When I was an eleven year old boy, they
were there for me with open arms.They
have paved the way for me and have
made me more determined than ever.”
Darnell was recently hired as a permanent substitute for basic skills classes
by the Plumstead elementary school system. “This is an answer to prayer. I
needed something quick to help me put
away money for my senior year of college.” Throughout all his struggles,
Darnell’s faith has kept him strong. “My
faith keeps me calm. It reminds me that
I’m always going to get there. No situation can hold me back. It’s human to
want to worry, but in the spirit, I’ve already made it. As my friend always tells
me, ‘Let go and let God.’”
For Darnell, the future is as bright
as the light God has placed in his heart.
His desire is to teach fourth or fifth
grade and we can expect to see more of
him as a community leader, author , and
founder of his own school and/or youth
organization. God is in him and blessings
abound.

Strengthen Your
Love Muscles

M
y background in psychology and study of
human nature has taught me that hurt people,
hurt people. Nowhere is that truth more evident than among today’s youth. Gang violence,
bullying, and general meanness are rampant in
schools and places where young people interact.
However, as a student you have the perfect opportunity to show others kindness, love, and
hope, and to make a huge impact for Jesus
within your sphere of influence.
For instance, some students arrive at school
with a myriad of problems weighing on their
minds. Many come from dysfunctional homes
where the conduct in the home is unfathomable
for Christians. Recently, many families are experiencing financial hardships, and students are
lacking even basic necessities such as clothing
and proper nutrition to help them think and do
well in school. Too often parents are stressed
and pulled in so many different directions that
their children don’t receive the time and care
that they deserve. Resultantly, these students
come to school feeling hurt, inadequate, unimportant, unloved, unworthy and hopeless.
When a multitude of hurt youth who don’t like
themselves or others very much are brought
together in one place such as schools, that can
be a recipe for disaster. The students sometimes lash out at one another and the world
around them, and/or they try to find love and
acceptance in all the wrong places – such as in
sexual promiscuity, mind numbing drugs, and
gangs. However, you can be the beacon at the
end of the tunnel for them, by exemplifying
the love of Jesus. Someone once said, “There
is no such thing as a small act of kindness.
Every act creates a ripple effect.” A thoughtful
act, a smile, or a kind word from you towards
a person struggling with tough issues may just
save that person’s life.
Gossiping, lying, starting fights, and scowling at
people are telltale signs of someone who is
hurting and in desperate need of Jesus. When
you encounter hurt people, do not take degenerate behavior directed at you personally.
Instead, you should be reminded that they are
in pain, and see this as an opportunity to
strengthen your love muscles. If you let your
light shine, people will be wondering how you
are able to stay so positive despite their best
attempts to bring you low, and then you have
an opportunity to tell them about the Savior
who loves you unconditionally all the time, who you can count on for anything, and who never leaves
you nor forsakes you. Show them the God in you.
Jesus did not discard people who were hurting; instead, He embraced them and brought them into the
sheepfold. In John 4:4-42 we learn about the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, who Jesus loved when
she herself, and others deemed her to be unworthy. By embracing the Samaritan woman as He did, it
caused a ripple effect as she went about telling everyone in her town about Jesus, and consequently
many were saved. Again, in John 8:1-11 Jesus showed grace to the adulterous woman who the religious leaders wanted to stone. But, Jesus saved her by demonstrating to her accusers that they were
just as guilty as she was. When neither the scribes nor the Pharisees who were accusing her could
truthfully claim to be without sin, they were forced to leave the woman alone. As ambassadors for
Christ, it is our specific duty not to judge, but to embrace all those who desire to know Jesus. Remember that Jesus came for the sinners and not the saved (Luke 19:10).
So this school year I encourage you to boldly be a “show off” for Jesus. As a child of the Most High
God, you have a relationship with Jesus that others may not know anything about, though they desperately need to know. Your peers’ lives can be turned around just by knowing that Jesus loves them.
You have access to a Savior that knows everything about you and still loves you despite your shortcomings. Jehovah Jireh is there when you ask, to meet your every need exceedingly above and beyond
measure. Jehovah Nissi provides a banner of victory. Jehovah Shalom fills your heart with peace, he
comforts you and brings you joy. Jehoval Rapha heals you and gives you power for your weaknesses.
Jehovah Shammah is always with you, He never leaves you nor forsakes you. Jehovah M’Kaddesh sanctifies you, and Jehovah Tsidkenu has made you righteous. Basically, Jehovah Rhoi is your good shepherd; your own personal cheerleader who always has your back. Do you know another student who
would benefit from a having Jesus as their personal cheerleader too?

GOD LOVES YOU
JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS
YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS NOW AND KNOW GOD’S LOVE
The basis of the Prayer of Salvation comes from Romans 10:9-10, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God
has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
However, I would like to direct you to Ephesians 2: 8-9, “For by Grace are you
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; Not of
works, lest any man should boast.”
Grace is mentioned over 100 times in the Bible. Grace is God’s unmerited
favor and because of God’s grace, we receive eternal life and a promise of
heaven. Grace is necessary for salvation as we cannot do enough good works
or make enough right choices to earn our salvation. The Bible teaches that we
are justified by the grace of God (Romans 3:24; Titus 3:7). Justified means declared not guilty. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, all charges
against us are dropped and we are free from sin. When God forgives our sins,
the record is wiped clean. It is as if we had never sinned.
A preacher once explained grace with this acronym:
God’s –Riches –At -Christ’s -Expense
PRAY THIS PRAYER OUT LOUD:
Heavenly Father, In Jesus’ name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me. Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe you died for
my sins and you were raised from the dead. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank
you, Father, for saving me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

is the Light of the World – “I am the light of the
world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will
have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Paul said, “I beseech you . . . that you present your bodies a living sacrifice . . .” (Romans 12:1). What I must decide is whether
or not I will agree with my Lord and Master that my body will
indeed be His temple. Once I agree, all the rules, regulations,
and requirements of the law concerning the body are summed
up and the bottom line is my body is “the temple of the Holy
Spirit.”
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You
are not your own; for you were bought with a price. (1 Corinthian 6:19-20)
Every Christian can have his body under absolute control for
God. How would you feel if someone came in your church or
house of worship and begin to demolish it with paint? Well,
what about destroying the Temple of God? When Jesus cleansed
the Temple in the Gospels, was the Lord pleased that the Religious people of the day were abusing God's Temple? No! He
was not pleased, in fact Jesus was very ANGRY and drove out
all the ones doing evil in God's temple. How then should we
treat the "temple of God" which is your body? That's right, according to 1Corinthians 3:16 & 17, Christians are the Temple
of God. With that being said let’s start treating our bodies as a
Temple and not destroying it by overeating. When I look
around and see the majority of Christians over weight it makes
me wonder if you really love the Lord like you profess. God
wants us to be in good health and perfect peace.
As always a few tips on healthy fruits to make our Temple/Body
Light Shine to the world.
Fruits that are not only beneficial to the body, but it also can
control insulin which many Believers have problems with is diabetes. If we would only learn to eat right we can eliminate a
lot of unnecessary medicine prescribe to help regulate our
sugar and salt in take.

Ten healthy fruits:
Red grapefruit - Grapefruit is very popular to eat and
widely cultivated in the United States. Red grapefruit is
the best option for people with diabetes.
Orange - is known for its high vitamin C content. The fruit
is also low in carbohydrates and contain potassium

Berry - such as blueberries, raspberries, cranberries contain
anti
anti--oxidants that are good for health. In addition, berry
provides fiber, low carbohydrate, and various vitamins.
Melon - is rich in vitamin B and C, beta
beta--carotene, potassium, and lycopene. Consume any type of melon will provide a myriad of vitamins that the body needs.
Cherries - contain high anti

Peaches - are a good source for vitamins A and C. The
fruit is also low in carbohydrates, but rich in potassium
and fiber.
Apricot - contain high fiber and vitamin A. In addition, the
fruit is low in carbohydrates.
Apples - one the right choice for consumption. Beside rich

anti--oxidants, apples also contain fiber and vitamin C.
Kiwi - contains many nutrients that the body needs like vitamin C, fiber, and potassium.
Pears - enriched with potassium and fiber.

Originally, God created a beautiful world
without pain and suffering where his man
could live an abundant life. When Adam and
Eve ate the Forbidden Fruit in the Garden of
Eden, evil, sin, and suffering entered the
world and so now we live in a Fallen World
where bad things can happen to anyone. In
fact, God tells us in John 16:33 NLT, “Here
on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
How does God’s love contradict
the worldly statement that God allows bad things to happen to people?
When catastrophes happen often we hear
this question: “How can a good and loving
God allow bad things to happen to good
people?” We can somewhat understand
when bad things happen to evil people. Even
those in the world understand the law “of
you reap what you sow,” but when sickness,
death, or loss come to “good” people, even
Christian people, we too may ask the question “Why?” Why me?” As Christians, we
know “That God is light and there is no
darkness in him at all”(1John 1:5). Evil does
not emanate from God. It is the adversary

God never said we would not have pain and
struggle in this world, but He has promised
He will never leave us or forsake us. He will
be with us in our suffering and the “God of
all comfort” will comfort us in our tribulations.
But now, thus says the Lord,
who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they
shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire,
you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord Your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Some things happen in our lives due to our own poor decision making, selfishness,
pride, or lack of caring. If you abuse your body, you are more likely to be sick. If you
avoid church and the Word, you are not going to reap God’s best for your life. God
gives us free will. He wants us to choose to love and follow him. When we turn away
from him and follow our own desires, we leave ourselves open to misfortune. Then
there are natural disasters in the world and it is easy for people who are not of faith
to blame God. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and fires are included in a clause called
“an act of God” by insurance companies. God’s word says that even nature is out of
order: “For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth
right up to the present time.” (Romans 8:22). Those who study the Bible know that
these events are not from God; they are the results of sin. “Beloved, do not believe
every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false
prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)
Sometimes things happen that just make no sense to us. That’s when we really have to
put our faith in to action and trust God. His word says that his thoughts are not our
thoughts and “Now we see things imperfectly , like puzzling reflections in a mirror,
but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and
incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me
completely. (1Corinthians 13:12) One day when we are with God in Heaven, we will
have answers to our questions. When we look at bad things happening to good people, we have to remind ourselves of what God says in His word and keep our faith no
matter what the situation looks like. We can also expectantly stand on Romans 8:28,
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those
who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” With God, something good can come out of something bad.
God is not the author of destruction, but the finisher of our faith. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much He sacrificed his Only Son to pay for our sins so that we may
have everlasting life with Him. It is God who forgives our sins, heals our diseases, and
redeems our lives from destruction. He crowns us with lovingkindness and tender
mercies so our youth is renewed like the eagles (Psalm 103). Does this sound like a
god who would send death and destruction upon you?
Bad things happen to good people; it is part of the Fallen World we live in. Paul encourages us in Romans 8:18 saying, “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to
the glory he will reveal to us later.”

The internet is a source for us to spread the gospel. We are far more
tech savvy at this time than we have ever been. We have our cell phones,
laptops, tablets, iPods, and iPads that all provide internet access. Because of
this, the amount of people who still actually picks up a book to read is limited. Which is okay, as the word of God can now be accessed through
technology and the internet.
The internet is our means of connection with believers all across the
world. One major well known internet source is YouTube. There are so
many inspirational videos and clips on YouTube that can build faith and motivate the Christian believer. You can watch spoken word videos, preaching
videos, skit videos, listen to inspirational music, and even watch series like
The Bible. Some of my favorite video clips are:

Twitter is also a popular internet
source. Millions of people across the world
are on twitter. Wherever there are people,
there is opportunity for God’s word to be
shared. There are various faith based accounts that share scriptures and Christian
inspiration. Some include
@BIBLE_2ndCOMING,
@ALL_ABOUT_JESUS, and
@GREATBIBLEVERSE. There are also
Christian celebrities that share faith including, @DeVonFranklin, @CoryCondrey,
@TripLee116, and @Lecrae.
A lot of people use social networks
such as twitter to vent or reveal whatever
they are feeling. Because we know that, as
Christians we should be using it to encourage those who follow us on the site. We can
tweet motivating scriptures or even wisdom
that we may have been learning in our own
Christian studies. If someone else tweets a
scripture or Christian inspiration, retweet it.
Retweeting is simply sharing what someone
else has posted. That way, not only are their
followers seeing it, but now the rest of your
followers will see it also. The internet as a
whole is perfect for encouraging faith and
spreading the gospel, should it be used in
that manner. As technology elevates, it gives
us the opportunity to elevate God’s word
and spread our faith as well.

Harmony Family Reunion
2013

Most people are familiar with the saying “the
family that prays together stays together” and the fact
that over 300 families signed up to be a part of the
2013 Harmony Family Reunion says a lot about how
enthusiastic they are about coming together and
sharing God’s blessings through fellowship and love.
This is all a part of God’s plan for us as stated in
1John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in
the light, we have fellowship with one another”.
The Family Reunion took place on August 22,
2013 at Veteran’s Park where food, entertainment,
and activities kept everyone engaged and involved.
Cook’s Catering did a wonderful job in satisfying
everyone’s palate with a fabulous barbecue/fish fry
and music by Rod Blackstone kept everyone grooving.
Photographer Colan Lewis of the Church of Grace and
Peace in Tom’s River captured candid moments.
There were activities for all ages, which included golfing at Cedar Creek Municipal Golf Course and tournaments for baking, basketball, baseball, volleyball, 3legged racing, and various table games. The little
ones were entertained with bubbles, crafts, and the
playground. Five graduating seniors, Cheyenne Jacobs, Deja Morris, Alexus Porter, Dominique Jenkins, Danei Moore, & Nina Alvarez , were presented
with gift baskets to set their transition to college life
in the right direction.
All in all, the Harmony Family Reunion was a
success! God is love and He loves when His people
enjoy fellowship with one another.
